## What is Motion Graphix Animator?

This feature-rich 2.5D animation app lets you create anything from Ken-Burns-style photo montages to animated GIF 'memes', from instructional videos to spatial or stereoscopic film titles. Start by loading a photo or movie background, or create a colored background gradient. You can add animated color correction, zoom, pan or blur to the background at any time. Next add layers using your own media or one of the many included 'sprite' images. Now animate your layers with a powerful but simple keyframe animation system - just set the time and move the layer. You animate the size, rotation, transparency, and everything else the same way. And because Motion Graphix is a 2.5D animation system, you can also change the Z-position, or depth, of a layer, and it will shrink or move behind other layers as if it were moving farther from the 'camera'.

Motion Graphix lets you add as many layers as you like, and animate them. Layers can be made not just from still pictures, but also from videos and animated GIFs. You can create your own text elements with outlines and shadows, or define your own basic shapes using standard Bezier curves and color gradient fills. And Motion Graphix includes a built-in sprite cutter, making it easy to cut elements out of your own photos by tracing a Bezier curve around them, or by using Apple’s AI background removal And once you cut an element out, it is added to your library, to reuse in future projects.
You can also animate hand-drawn elements. Sketch a line or letter, and Motion Graphix will draw it on as the animation plays. This is really great for making underlines or circles to highlight parts or places in your background picture. You can also add particle-system layers, like snow, fireworks, bubbles, and more.

And because advanced keyframe animation controls underlie the quick and intuitive process of simply setting the time and moving the element. You can dig in for precise control of your motion when needed, or let Motion Graphix do the work with built-in motions like spiral, jitter, bounce and more. For matching graphics to a moving background, try the revolutionary 'Digital Tracking' system: use your digit to follow the motion while the video plays, then apply that motion to a layer.

When you're done, share a picture or movie to Photos or any app that accepts sharing, including Mail, Messages, YouTube, Dropbox and many more. If you have set depths on your layers, you can even save out stereoscopic renders in standard split-screen formats, red-blue anaglyph 3d format, or VR format suitable for viewing with Google Cardboard type viewers.

Features:
Easy-to-use keyframe-based animation system, just set the time and adjust the layer
Animated filtering on background picture or movie: Color correction, blurring, still photo position and zoom

### 4/5 — Excellent

*2022-09-13, version 3.3*

I love this app. It is extremely powerful and reasonably easy to get to grips with. Unfortunately there’s a But.
It seems it is only possible to import elements from ios Photo app. For some reason my PNG files with transparent backgrounds are not always importing as transparent. This behaviour seems completely erratic. I believe it might have something to do with ios rather than Motion Graphix so I wonder if the ability to import from files might improve things. As it is, I am too frustrated to continue with it.

### 5/5 — Great but I’d love an update please?

*2020-04-27, version 2.0*

Surprisingly versatile app capable of some interesting results. There’s one thing that would make this brilliant. If it were possible to somehow join elements together it would make it so much better. I can animate separate elements on a static image but if it were possible to then move the combined elements as a whole it would be very interesting. I’ve possibly missed this feature, please let me know?

### 5/5 — The missing link....

*2019-03-03, version 2.0*

As a user of apple’s ‘motion’ for my professional work,I’ve been keeping my eye out for something similar to find it’s way onto the iPad. Here it is! Very impressed with my first play. For the price it’s amazing. Get it!

### 3/5 — Great potential, too many glitches

*2019-02-06*

This app is great when it works. But there are countless glitches. Sometimes, I tap away from an element, then I can’t select it again and it is stuck. There are others, but it is infuriating when you work on a project for 30 minutes, and a random glitch pops out of nowhere and ruins it. Please fix the glitches. There is also issues with saving.
If this app let you mask and add green screen video elements, it would be perfect.

**Developer response:** If you can provide more detailed information about any glitches, please use the "Contact Us" button in the help popover to send us an email. That would be really help us fix and improve the app. Plus, we love to hear from people using Motion Graphix, even if the app is misbehaving.. Thanks!

### 2/5 — Animate characters

*2018-10-09*

I placed the animated bat on a video... the problem is I can only placed it from point a to point b. Can’t do key frames... I can use the add motion.... but with both I have the problem that the time it gives me is to short ... making the animation movement from point a to b ridiculously fast. And no I can change the speed. Timeline won’t work. Even though it work with other animations

**Developer response:** You should be able to go into the timeline editor and stretch the time bar for that element. By default animated gif elements come in with an animation length that matches one cycle of their animation. Stretching that timing won’t slow down the animation cycle, but will stretch the time it takes for the keyframe animations to play. Is this what you tried? Did you use the animated bat included with the app? Please visit the our help forum on reddit if this doesn’t help, so we can have a more interactive dialog, and possible exchange files.

### 4/5 — Great new features but

*2018-02-06*

The only thing missing is a masking tool and it would great if you edit the first image or video you put in the timeline as Well As the second one and it.s great you have chroma key now but I Would like to be able to Chroma key the first image or video instead of just the second one.. basically when you add the first image or video it should Be the foreground image or video instead of the background The 2nd image image or video should be the background.. that.s another Thing needs to be changed

Please If you could change this that would make the app perfect

Thank You 😌

### 4/5 — Great app, needs to be more stable

*2017-10-08*

I really like whats going on with this app, pretty much the closest thing to After Effects I’ve run into on IOS, however it could stand to be a little more stable, I’ve experienced more crashes then I’m comfortable with within the first hour of using it on my Air2 with only 3 elements. Hopefully it gets more stable, I could see myself using it a lot if so.

**Developer response:** Could you let me know what you were doing when the app crashed? We have a "Contact Us" button in the help popover for you to send us an email. That would be very helpful. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Amazingly feature rich. Huge potential!

*2017-06-29*

I'm rating this 5 stars simply for the immense depth of features and abilities in Version 1.0 of this app. I had one question for the developer and received a quick response with a great answer.

Read the tutorials, watch the videos and then realize that this is an extrememly capable motion graphics video creator if you are willing to learn the tools. My background is game development and video production, with a large amount of keyframe animation experience for various projects. Considering how well this runs on a 12.9 iPad Pro, I'm already thinking of many, many uses for it, from animated wireframes for clients, to 2D video game cutscene creation, to animated narrative storyboards. A lot of things that someone may have used Flash or Macromedia Director for, can be done with this app on an iPad. Amazing.
