Absolutely no reason to be paying for an account just to save some settings and use the Bluetooth connection with the tool. Absurd that everything these days is going towards a subscription model, even my fancy tape measure app. Was a great idea until it sold out. ### 1/5 — Paid subscription *2025-06-29* Frustrating to have this app come with the tool (around $200) then later turn around and strip it from users and make it a paid subscription. Understood there is a free remote app now, but not happy. ### 1/5 — Broken Promises and Paywalls *2025-04-15* I originally purchased the Slacker tool with the understanding that it was a one-time purchase, only to find out now they’re moving key features behind a new paywall. It feels like a bait-and-switch — I supported the app early, but now I’m being asked to pay again for something I already bought. Disappointing move that breaks trust with users. I’ll be looking for alternatives that respect their customers more. ### 1/5 — Less for your money *2025-03-02* Used to be free with purchase of slacker tool. Now it requires a subscription.👎🏻 **Developer response:** The Slacker Virtual Remote app is still 100% free. I had to start charging for this app because all the added features and cloud storage got too expensive. If all you need is the virtual remote, please download Slacker Virtual Remote. It is not fair to give this review when you never contacted us with your concerns. ### 1/5 — Subscription Really? *2024-12-29* There’s nothing in this app that warrants a subscription. Ok I bought the tool which is useful but expensive. The app should be included. I’ve got other free apps that do the same thing. **Developer response:** The Slacker Virtual Remote App is still 100% free and does everything you need to fully leverage the tool's features. This app has grown and now includes features like service tracking, secure cloud storage and more. This app is a general purpose tool and it does not require the user to have a Slacker. Sorry for the confusion, I sent several emails about this and could have got you a free subscription if you had reached out to me. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2024-11-15* Always jams up **Developer response:** Please open a support ticket if you are having issues. We are always happy to help out but never heard from you about this. ### 1/5 — Now useless *2024-08-15* Since they will make it basically useless without being able to at least view your bike’s and rider sag in on comprehensive view, i give it 1 star. It was a great tool. Now they want you to pay. I dont need to save any info. But i do want to have it show the bike sag, and the rider sag. Now it will only so your realtime sag. I used to rave about this tool and telling everyone to get it. Now i wont suggest it to anyone. Ruined the app. **Developer response:** The Slacker Virtual Remote App is free and all you need to use Slacker so you are wrong! Service Assistant is a fully featured app and you do not need a Slacker to use it. Please download the Slacker Virtual Remote and quit spreading misinformation. No thank you. You do not need my information. **Developer response:** We were preparing to add the database portion so you can save all of your bikes and settings. ### 2/5 — Now Need to Pay? *2025-02-24* Was a great product to keep track of tire pressures for all my bikes. Over winter something changed, and I can no longer access my account without paying for a subscription. **Developer response:** We sent out a bunch of emails about this over the summer. Since the app has grown so much we had to start charging $0.99/mo to cover our costs. Trust me, we are not getting rich off of this! I can keep track of all my bikes, suspension settings, and service tasks on my phone and ditch the greasy notebook. I would recommend this to anyone that rides a bike! ### 5/5 — Great tool for easy adjustments *2023-11-20* This is great for making adjustments and being able to save multiple bikes, one track and two trail bikes. The trail bikes have FSW tuned suspension and being able to quickly adjust the sag is great, helps the suspension performance. At Carnegie we ride light but in the Sierras everyone rides heavier with tools and water, etc. Support was great too. Being able to track settings and makes notes is great but being able to use the app with the Slacker digital suspension tuner is the best feature in my book. It states clearly in the privacy policy we do not sell it or use iot for marketing. We still have the Slacker Virtual Remote app which is free and does not require you to sign in. You should move over tho that one if you are so mistrusting. ### 3/5 — Ugh, account required … *2021-10-03* Love my Slacker tool and would like to use the app but I’m not signing up for another account just to save my suspension settings. Will just keep using the remote app instead with pencil and paper I guess. Bummer. **Developer response:** Just use the Slacker Virtual Remote. It is free and does not require a signing. ### 3/5 — Account required for what? *2020-07-14* I don’t understand why is it required to create an account. Settings can be saved to *my* iCloud and there is no need for that. Please fix and get rid of this as I won’t be using the app in the current state. And I’d advise people not to do so as well till this is fixed. EDIT: bumping to 3 stars as my goal is not to hurt the company. Maybe we can look at this moving forward but giving me a 1 star review because the way you want the app to work is not very cool. The app works great, it is just not what you want it to be. We are a tiny company and if you check the privacy policy we do not collect any of this data so please keep this in mind.
