I even had this monitor and it stopped working after a few years and I liked it so much I bought the same one. This was how it had been for years. At this point in our life we do not have the constant need for the WiFi option but it is nice to have when needed, but now they took that option away and are requiring me to pay to view the livestream that had always been free before. I’ve already paid my money. It’s a breach of the original terms. This could also lead to a lawsuit. What if someone can’t afford it and because they didn’t pay or were unaware of the fee, they were unable to properly monitor their child, resulting in some sort of incident? Goddess forbid anything happens to a baby that could have been prevented if only the device was working as it was before. I’ll trash this device before I pay an extortion fee. If this goes into effect 7/19, I’ll have a new monitor on the way next week. You want more money? Do what every other app developer does and add premium features. Don’t charge for the only literal thing this device is used for. The app seems to always update right on my daughters bed time so can’t use it then either and to top it all off someone has hacked into the camera and been watching my daughter sleep late at night. The handheld monitor stopped working and now can only view through the app, so it’s not useful for family or babysitters, only me. It’s hard to connect to wifi network, and the glowing red light to indicate it’s on is so bright when lights are off, we had to use black electrical tape to hide it. But ‘trust them, it’s protected.’ If they make it impossible for you to opt out are they looking for your best interest really? Any time you try to view with no membership it shows theirs a connection error. It worked wonderfully, all the time, from anywhere, never once had an issue! Then they roll out this one… and forced users to switch… it works maybe, MAYBE, 5% of the time, if that. The live feed almost never works, the motion captures do not load… if I went over what all did not work in this app I would be here forever.
