At times it is difficult to locate the car. There doesn’t seem to be a way to refresh the screen on your own, you just have to wait and hope for it to update on its own. Loved the app before last week, but the update did not improve it at all. ### 1/5 — Support unavailable *2021-04-01, version 4.2.6* Our tracker has been offline for two days. I contacted support immediately with no success. Sales is available though. ### 2/5 — Latest update seems to have a glitch *2021-03-26* Ever since the latest update 6 days ago (date of this review is 26-Mar-2021), the app has failed to notify me of any alerts about 50% of the time the vehicle is being used. Further, the satellite tracking is also failing in the app itself at about 50% of the time. When I know the vehicle is being driven, the app will about half the time not show near-real-time GPS location; in fact one day in the past 6 days it showed it still parked at the home location even though I know it was being driven at that time. When I use the website on a PC I’m able to get the current information, though. So there’s a disconnect somewhere between the app and the actual MOTOsafety database. ### 1/5 — Horrible App *2021-02-19, version 4.2.3* The whole purpose of this app was to track my child. How can I do this when the app gives me wrong information. This is a paid service and so not cool to not be able to use it. Frustrating. ### 2/5 — Functional, but so many UI bugs and problems *2021-02-12, version 4.2.3* I have used this product for a couple years. It does provide basic functionality of showing vehicle location and history. However the UI continues to devolve. I have tried contacting Motosafety support and get responses that basically say it’s not their problem. So if you need a basic solution but have low expectations for the app this may be the perfect product for you. ### 1/5 — Device is clearly visible in car and has high monthly monitoring fees *2021-01-24, version 4.2.2* The device needs to be connected to a panel in the car. In Honda’s, the panel is just underneath the steering wheel. The device sticks out from the dash and flashes. It is very obviously visible. Any teenagers who don’t want dad knowing their whereabouts on a Saturday night can simply pop out the device just like you would with any plug in device. ### 1/5 — Out with the new, in with the old? *2021-01-21, version 4.2.2* I mean after the outcry of negative reviews you would think that there would be an app update bringing back the old UI system. Seriously, if I wasn’t able to find the old app download somewhere on the web I WOULD NOT STILL BE PAYING MONTHLY FOR THIS SERVICE!!!! Seriously, get it together. Listen to your customers and fix this already..... it’s been too many months too long. ### 1/5 — Good to bad *2021-01-19, version 4.2.2* App was very usable months ago. Now, it’s a struggle. Latest issue is if number of starts and stops exceed a page for a day, you cannot view the ones below the page. You can try and try, but app doesn’t allow it. And, no way to find help in app, so writing here. :( ### 1/5 — Unfair business *2021-01-15, version 4.2.2* I try to cancel my subscription for month. It’s just impossible. They don’t offer a way to stop it in app. You have to call a number and nobody pickup the phone. Very slow to retrieve tracking history. This new app refreshes the same location multiple times on startup. Very difficult to find functions and to go back from history to current location. Forces a very close zoom in on the current location. Old app was way better. Actively looking to replace this gps tracking device. I’m about to cancel my subscription ### 1/5 — Practically Useless App - Great Device *2020-11-15* Please go back to the old app - I would at least given that 3 stars. The old app had a huge number of bugs but was at least useful to track your kid, find out where he had just driven from, etc. Then they went to an app with a nice appearance - but is 98% useless, the usability is horrible, takes way more steps to get the routes and gives I correct data. I am not sure it is worth 20 dollars a month for the device anymore due to this pathetic app. Just publish an SDK and let us professionals write our own app for the device. ### 2/5 — update lacks basic functionality *2020-11-13, version 4.1.0* The new update no longer has the ease of features I originally signed up for. I now get multiple alerts for the same issue. Ever since you updated the App it does not work well. App has gone downhill ### 1/5 — Total piece of $h!t *2020-10-29, version 4.1.0* Just bought this for our sons car as he turns 16 tomorrow. Got it all set up, I went out as the driver to test it and went 89mph, 76mph and then 92mph. Kept driving like a dick and when I get home. The app says my top speed was 44 mph and I got an A. Don’t for a second think this is going to give accurate info or keep anyone safe. If my kid ever drives the way I just did he won’t have to crash because I will kill him myself. We have two accounts with them. MONTHS ago the notifications stopped working. I have called them numerous times and explained what’s going on, what I see, what I’ve done, deleted, reinstalled, edited settings, etc etc etc. I work in IT, I know the drill. Never, NEVER has anyone called me back. I’m now waiting for a call back from the last call I made, over 3 weeks ago, which I’m guessing is never coming. The last lady I spoke with sounded promising, sigh, and even told me she’s had other customers complain that they aren’t receiving the notifications either. I told her I first reported this back in April, notifications stopped working in March. If anyone had called me then they would have known they had an issue. At this point I’m cancelling my account and contacting my financial institution about the monthly fees I’ve been paying for months for services that they not only can’t/won’t fix, but they don’t even have the etiquette to contact their customers about. I’ve done my part to try and assist and reconcile the issue. They refuse to be of service. Nothing has changed in my settings. It worked before, though I used to get duplicate notifications. Then app formed only fair and was difficult to use. Presently app is horrible. Car show offline frequently. Right now one car shows parked 4 miles from where it really is. I would get notifications in real time. This is no longer the case. I don’t get notifications until the vehicle has been out for 45 mins to and hour. Talked into getting an updated device and still have the same problems. I also get notifications that the car is moving long after it’s parked in the garage. It also goes offline for no reason. Looking into another company. Tired of wasting my money. Sometimes it takes an hour to locate and or update your location. The Geo fencing feature does not work along with others that have been taken away. Keep looking for something better ### 5/5 — Great Device, App needs tweaking *2018-10-28* We have had this in our kids’ car for close to 2 years. This is our second driver to use MOTOSafety. I love knowing if my kid has arrived safely, where they are when they get rerouted or are “lost”. I am not terribly fond of the app update, while it has added needed features that were only available on a pc before, it is more difficult to navigate and toggle between route and current place. Never had a problem; setup was simple; works perfectly, though sometimes I think it shows a higher speed than what I could possibly have been doing....... ### 5/5 — Great product !!!!!' *2014-12-17* Just installed this product on my 16-year-old son's car. So far this GPS tracker does everything it was advertised to do. The new app update is light years better than the previous version. The entire product, the hardware and the software are worth the investment . Not to mention the peace of mind. It alerts me when she is speeding, or when I borrow her car! No problems yet, hasn't crashed ever. Very simple, very useful. ### 4/5 — 4.2 finally restored the functionality of 3.37 *2020-11-13* It only took 2 1/2 months, but they finally got the functionality of this app back to where it was before version 4 screwed everything up. I can finally track my teen again — while they are on the road — which is probably the most important feature. Took you long enough, but good job. ### 4/5 — Review *2019-03-14* Overall the app is useful and allows me to keep track of our vehicles and teenager’s driving habits. I verified the speed is very accurate as is the location. There is sometimes a slight time delay with the notifications, but nothing major. The custom geofences are very easy to setup and allows you to get alerts when the vehicle exits or enters one of the geofences. There are a couple improvements I would like to see: - The app randomly logs me out every few weeks and I’m forced to log back in. This is extremely frustrating since none of my other apps do this. Not sure if this happens when they push new updates or if there’s some other reason. MOTOSafety has reached out to me and think it’s caused by my phone but I still believe it’s an app issue. I’ve had 2 different iPhones and it behaves the same on both of them. - If someone unplugs the device I only get notified once it’s reconnected. It would be more helpful if it sends an alert when it’s disconnected. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Our mobile team is looking into why you have to log-inn again after the update, but you should be able to use your existing password. ### 3/5 — New look? Ugh *2020-09-25, version 4.0.7* Functions as it should, but doesn’t do anything special. The latest update is awful. Much more difficult to read and figure out info. If they don’t update again soon, plan to cancel and try a different product. ### 3/5 — Worked good at first but... *2019-11-30* These trackers work good at first and then freeze, don’t update every minute and customer service always makes excuses saying the tracker might not be in the best location on the car. Well when they are always in the same place then it’s not the location if they works sometimes and not other times.
