### 3/5 — Buggy, more so as of late!

*2026-07-19, version 4.7.3*

Bugs: double tick created on a tick, “routes” Nextdoor always defaults to the first route in the area

Love the idea of the app and contribute on website

### 2/5 — Duplicating Tick & Technical Errors

*2026-07-19, version 4.7.3*

App now duplicates ticks. Had to delete the app and update on website. Lost all my saved areas.

### 3/5 — Do more, OnX. Please.

*2026-07-11, version 4.7.3*

This could be such a great app. It’s a decent app that comes from a good website. But the functionality needs to be implemented more. So many features on the website need to be brought to the app. Adding images to a route? Details on when crags are shaded or in the sun? The little things. And make it more navigable.

### 2/5 — They removed the forum tab from the app

*2026-07-10, version 4.7.3*

App is still great for beta and route info but forum are no longer accessible from the app, bummer. Nice to find partners, gear, etc. on the forums.

### 4/5 — Forums

*2026-06-24, version 4.7.2*

What happened to the forums portal web link feature? This critical feature was the most used part of the app for many. Please restore

### 3/5 — Bring back forum access on the app

*2026-06-04, version 4.7.2*

Forum access is useful for partner finder, sales forum, etc. It seems odd to take away access to these basic features of the site.

### 1/5 — Forum removed from app

*2026-03-24, version 4.6.14*

Why would the arguably best part of the app get removed?

### 2/5 — Bring back forum access!

*2026-03-22, version 4.6.14*

I hope this issue can be resolved.

### 1/5 — Am I dumb? Where are the forums?

*2026-03-17, version 4.6.14*

About a week ago (March 2026) I logged into the app and the button for the forums was gone. I visited the website and they still exist. Deleted app, Downloaded again - still gone. As of writing this review I see there was an update 4 days ago. Terrible update. Bring them back to the app.

### 1/5 — 2009-lookin app

*2026-03-16, version 4.6.14*

The only good thing about this app is the community-contributed data. The rest of the app is a terrible UX.

### 1/5 — Painful change

*2026-03-14, version 4.6.14*

Where the hell if the forum button??????

### 1/5 — Forum Removed From App

*2026-03-14, version 4.6.14*

After the latest update in early March of 2026, MP removed the forums section completely from the app. In the App Store it said the update was only for “bug fixes and maintenance.” I use the climbing/routes information when I’m gonna go climb, maybe once a week, but I would be on the app daily in the forum section. Buying and selling gear while talking trash with other climbers is important to the community. They have removed a major part of what makes the app great. I will change my review to 5 stars once the forum section comes back to the app.

### 3/5 — Forums

*2026-03-13, version 4.6.14*

They took away forums. Wish they didn’t do that

### 3/5 — No Forum Access

*2026-03-12, version 4.6.13*

Needs forum access.

### 4/5 — What’s good, what can be improved.

*2025-12-16, version 4.6.12*

I enjoy using this app for my own personal use to be able to keep track of things I climb and desire to climb. The navigation is fairly straightforward and easy to go back to. What I would like to see is the ability to leave comments about the route just like the website allows.

### 1/5 — Use the website

*2025-11-29, version 4.6.12*

App is so bad. I use the website every time. Hope they make the app as good as the website.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Used to be great

*2026-08-17, version 4.7.5*

Ever since OnX bought it it has gone down hill. Removing forums, removing the ability to comment in the app, and frequent crashes. Wish there was an alternative.

### 1/5 — Forum removed :(

*2026-08-01, version 4.7.4*

I miss the forum section

### 1/5 — Many bugs and inconveniences

*2026-07-25, version 4.7.3*

The "Routes next door" feature is maddening to use. It doesn't show the route next door because it shows the leftmost route at the entire crag. A large crag like North Forty can have over 100 routes so you constantly need to scroll. This is a simple feature, just show the current route so one doesn't need to scroll back to your place. This and lots of other glitches makes for a frustrating day

### 1/5 — Repeating ticks bug

*2026-07-22, version 4.7.3*

Please fix the bug that automatically ticks a climb hundreds to times!!

### 1/5 — Downhill

*2026-06-27, version 4.7.2*

Slow and clunky to the point of being unusable. Used to work fine but whatever they’ve added under the hood since Onx bought it has made it useless.

### 1/5 — Crashes immediately on iOS 15.8.8

*2026-05-17, version 4.7.0*

Displays splash screen and then exits immediately. Boo. This OS version is not end of life and should still be supported.

### 1/5 — Bring back forum

*2026-05-12, version 4.7.0*

Remove the forum, which is an incredibly important feature, and didn’t communicate at all with anyone. BRING BACK THE FORUM!!!!

### 1/5 — No Forum on app

*2026-05-11, version 4.7.0*

The forums are my favorite part of Mtn Project, and it is much more of a hassle to get to them on the website with them now removed from the app. Would give the old version of the app 5 stars

### 1/5 — Was great now meh

*2026-04-09, version 4.7.0*

please remove the stupid update wheel, and provide a path to forum,
—Ross

### 1/5 — forums

*2026-04-02, version 4.7.0*

I used this app daily. Until they removed the number #1 reason why I use the app… they removed the forums section over a month ago. I thought it was a bug but there has been no communication.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Add personal photos

*2026-06-18, version 4.7.2*

Yoo you guys should definitely add a setting for us to add photos that app devs approve of so we can all share experiences

### 5/5 — $$$

*2026-05-12, version 4.7.0*

If you don’t have money for a guide or crag book this is for you 😝

### 5/5 — Luke

*2026-04-01, version 4.7.0*

Kelly

### 5/5 — Best app for touching rocks

*2026-03-21, version 4.6.14*

If you do any sort of rock climbing outdoors this app is a must. Been using it for years and have saved so much time finding routes and planning worthwhile climbing trips

### 5/5 — Better than the Bible

*2025-11-29, version 4.6.12*

Title says it all

### 5/5 — Good app

*2025-11-25, version 4.6.12*

It is good

### 5/5 — great app for climbers

*2025-10-08*

MP has an extensive (although not exhaustive) database of beta and climbing information. It’s great for hitting local crags or popular spots, although for more off the beaten path spots, it’s lacking. I mean, it’s an app, not a guidebook. Altogether works amazingly and I highly recommend.

the new update has been causing it to crash every time I open it though… hopefully that’ll be patched quickly

### 5/5 — One of the best out there

*2025-10-05, version 4.6.10*

This app is not perfect, but it’s pretty darn near to it I’ve gone places that locals have never seen because of this app and has allowed me to climb all over the country. It’s not strong for international, but it’s amazing for the US.

### 5/5 — Invaluable

*2025-09-03, version 4.6.10*

The app for climbing in Cali. Don't know what I'd do without it.

### 5/5 — The climbing app!

*2025-09-01, version 4.6.10*

If you climb outdoors, get this app. Simple as that.
The ui could be less clunky, but it works
