It was fun check out worked well. App just froze on one of the instruction slides. Then return the camera through the app kept going black, my camera app worked fine but was black in the app. So my friend logged in on his phone to do the return. Got one returned and put away then the second didn’t take so we had to remove it all from the lockers again take the pics and it took the second time. ### 2/5 — Glitchy app, lots of kayaks in maintenance mode, very heavy *2026-07-06, version 26.5.1* Used for the first time and I signed up for the annual membership. I was able to reserve 1 kayak and tried reserving the other 3 and kept having issues. Reached out to support, apparently it was my bank denying it. Reached out to my bank, they said everything was fine. I could only reserve the other 3 if I unchecked ‘join’ on the membership option each time. By the time I finally got them reserved, the first was into 30 minutes or so. If I’m paying $100 for 4 kayaks to use once, I’d be better off paying $99 a yearly membership but it wouldn’t work. I’m just going to avoid this app as much as possible ### 3/5 — Doubles don’t work if they are in maintenance mode *2026-06-19, version 26.5.1* Want to rent two things? Like Kayaks? After returning them to the indicated location and taking the instructed pictures, I received additional charges 3 days later for “incorrect pictures taken upon return.” I disputed the charges with Movatic through the online chat. The chat told me that they have a picture review team that verifies the validity of the pictures, which were previously accepted by the app. When I was shown the pictures I took, the online chat told me I did not include some portion of the bike. I was instructed to email the company to dispute the charges, which I did. Movatic has never responded to my disputes. I still don’t know what I did wrong. This is a sketchy, fraudulent charge. I will absolutely never deal with this company again. ### 1/5 — To expensive *2026-03-04, version 24.10.1* They want you to rent but they only have one renting option for the conventional bikes it’s only 25 for 2 hours when you don’t need it for 2 hours they think that’s to bad they don’t offer .50 base pay and .50 for every 30 min like there sign Says the only option is the 25 for 2 hours witch dose not add up 25 for 2 hours but .50 for 30 min where is the math in that I don’t need the bike for 2 hours I needed it for barely even an hour but the company just locks the price and tell you there is no other option that is a scam ### 4/5 — [Fixed] App Charged $50 for Non-return *2026-01-21, version 24.10.1* Increasing this from 1 star to 4 stars. Got my little mistaken charge fixed! Took a while – lots of automated responses. Will up this to 5 stars after a year of no issues. Set a reminder. I love the service this company does for the community – but recently I was charged $50 for not returning a bike that: (1) I never used, (2) and was never unlocked. I attempted to rent a bike. It never unlocked. So I returned the bike using the app. I then was charged $50 for a non-return. Some weird signal issue. I wasn't so upset with this, but the customer service is refusing to refund the charge which is very given that I've been using this app for over a year with no issue. ### 1/5 — 50% reliability rate *2025-10-15, version 24.10.1* these bikes are genuinely useless unless you like user frustration and extra mileage added to your trip. the bike locking mechanisms only work maybe half the time, meaning you’ll “rent” a bike without it ever unlocking for you, and then you can’t end the rental because you can’t re-lock the bike. in the year 2025, i am appalled that Movatic would rather make a dysfunctional locking system that creates user frustration than simply put trackers in their bikes and charge people for stealing them. and don’t get me started on the terrible model that is having a few scattered bike stations rather than allowing people the freedom to park wherever they want. i regularly have to go way out of my way to find a bike, and by the end of my trip i haven’t saved any time and i’ve only made myself sweaty and tired. ### 1/5 — Lousy *2025-08-17, version 24.10.1* The app seems to be poorly coded: UI/UX issues. It couldn’t find the station right in front of me. Instructions are only very basic. First red flag should have been it took over 10 minutes for the app to load… but I rented bikes for the day and I locked the bike and when I came back, the app decided it didn’t want to load. Ended up trying to carry the bikes back but couldn’t or else I would have miss my cruise departure. Took them almost a week to charge my account for the one day I used it for and tried contacting someone from the app MULTIPLE times and no success for even an apology. It kept saying “hardware unavailable “ ### 1/5 — Star – Do Not Rent These Bikes *2025-07-12, version 24.10.1* Out of the 10 bikes listed as available, only one was technically rentable — and it turned out to be unrideable. Here’s what we found: • 1 bike was missing a pedal • 4 had flat tires • None had working brakes • 3 were unavailable due to maintenance The only bike we could unlock was in such poor condition it couldn’t be ridden safely. We immediately locked it back and tried contacting support — no answer. I also emailed multiple times asking for a refund and got no response at all. This was a complete waste of time. The equipment isn’t maintained, and the customer service is nonexistent. Also no ability to select or see what size bike is available. Good concept but pathetic execution . ### 1/5 — Worst experience ever. Stole my money *2026-08-13, version 26.5.1* The pickup and return process is so complicated. It allowed me to take only 2 at a time while it said the limit was more (4 think). They need your phone and yourself to be physically present at the place of returning for it to work. For example you can’t rent for your kid or friend and let them return at a hub without your presence. They need so many pictures and GPS and all that and it’s just horrible. Also my wife’s phone had a GPS issue and the app failed to locate her for her to correctly return. But it didn’t have a problem in letting her pick it up. GPS issue was never a problem for pickup but a problem when you return. How convenient. This caused major delays and it charged extra due to the delays. Avoid at all costs. ### 1/5 — Renting but led on this app is not a good idea *2026-08-04, version 26.5.1* I rented bikes in West Concord Massachusetts and it took over 40 minutes to unlock four bikes. After our bike ride, it took forever to return the bikes. The app wouldn’t let me end the ride in order to lock the bikes back up. Customer service was not helpful. They would tell me the steps to returning and locking but couldn’t understand that these steps weren’t working. There’s no one to speak to, only a chat options that takes a long time to communicate back and forth. I will never rent using this app again. Hopefully the Town of Concord can find another company to use to rent bikes. ### 1/5 — Trash app that doesn’t work *2026-07-18, version 26.5.1* I rented a kayak but there was nowhere in the app to start the return. All the kayak lockers had issues. Some don’t lock at all. Customer service kept telling me to re-rent it so I could end it. Couldn’t re-rent, couldn’t end. If I get charged for extra time, I’m going to be soooo livid. ### 1/5 — Terrible Experience *2026-07-09, version 26.5.1* I rented a bike on the waterfront in Newburyport. When I returned the bike there were 3 slots open to return it to, but all 3 of the cables were broken. I had to wait an hour until someone rented one of the other bikes that had an unbroken cable. After I finally locked it and left, I started getting messages from Movaic saying that I needed to return the bike. It’s 24 hours later now and I’m still getting the messages. There’s no one to call to clear up the mess. I’ll never rent another bike through them. ### 1/5 — horrible *2026-07-08, version 26.5.1* the app never works properly, i just had to wait 10+ minutes for the app to load just so i can end my rental. once my phone nearly died while i was trying to end the rental after 20 minutes of trying to get to lock to work when putting the bike away. i tried to contact help, it told me i would get a real person, instead i got an ai who told me to “try locking the bike” after i explained it would not lock even after looking up tutorials and doing everything right. it would be very helpful to have a app like this if the app bothered working ### 1/5 — Can’t cancel *2026-07-01, version 26.5.1* Within the app the can auto renew is nonfunctional. There is no way to confirm cancellation. You can only report problems to a chat internal to the app. It’s useless. They forward it “to the team” but tell you they can’t cancel on their end.
