I tried to take a premium ride today and the guy arrived but then said he had another “client” but he wouldn’t cancel the ride and wanted me to. It’s crazy to say but I’d rather pay the mizungu price for a moto and take my life in my hands than deal with all the nonsense. ### 1/5 — bad drivers, not good attitude, impossible to refund *2025-08-17, version 10.5* I called the driver, but he never came. But it only works about 10% of the time. The app is buggy, taxi drivers will accept your request but often won’t bother driving to you until you call them. You need to know the exact locations of where you are and where you’re going … as the taxi drivers don’t use the GPS locations in the app. Quite possibly the most frustrating travel app I’ve ever used. ### 1/5 — Nightmare *2025-01-18, version 10.2* This is the worst transportation app I have ever used. The locating does not really work, there is no chat function within the app. You never know if a driver accepted the ride or is just driving and not coming to you place. It's hard to believe that Volkswagen is advertising it with its name. Fully unusable service ### 1/5 — Nice car service in Kigali, but please improve app *2024-11-29, version 10.1* Hi, I am satisfied with VW Move in Kigali: brand-new cars, good drivers. But please improve the app. Location of pick-up is not properly displayed to drivers. And live location of cars does not work (they ‘jump around’ randomly on the display). Twice now I’ve been charged for trips they never completed (didn’t even pick me up). There’s no way to confirm the driver has actually picked you up, and you can’t delete your credit card information from the app. Customer service is also unresponsive. ### 1/5 — Terrible Service *2022-12-20, version 8.8* Drivers accept rides and then cancel after 10-15 minutes. Have never had a driver show up. The drivers app would not process credit card for payment. I pay in cash 3-4 hours later they charge your credit card. Emails & called customer service. Email response is they will investigate. Phone calls they hang up on you! It happened every time even after emails. ### 1/5 — App Doesn’t Work in Rwanda *2026-05-27, version 10.8* I have only tried to use the app In Rwanda, maybe it works in other countries. I have never been able to order a ride using the app. The app has too many bugs and is not ready for release. My suggestion: change the app so when you open it, display a message to call 1010. THE APP DIDN’T SHOW UP ANY ROUTE. Cannot check the price, cannoy show the route. I tried the app several times, all the time the result was same. Stuck on the road and had to find another way. The new “update” won’t even let me book a ride. So ridiculous ### 1/5 — The drivers are horrible *2025-11-29, version 10.5* This is the only way you really can around in a car and it’s horrible! Most of the drivers don’t know how to read the gps so it will take you way longer to get anywhere. They will say they are at your location at pickup and will not be. And if they say they are at your location and start the ride you can’t cancel! A lot of them don’t want to blow the A/C. They will ask you where you going when majority people riding are foreigners so we don’t know how to get there. It honestly got worse by the day! They should add an option for you to be able to text them so it can translate for them. They know their gas will be low and will pick you up and have to stop at the gas station like you don’t have anywhere to go. ### 1/5 — Impossible to register *2025-11-25, version 10.5* The form to create an account does not accept any password no matter which combination of letter numbers and symbols one tries to use making the App not useable ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Not so bad *2026-03-25, version 10.8* Many of the reviews are very negative after a few days of use I personally have not experienced an issue. The GPS is not as smooth as other ride share apps I’ve used, but the drivers always found me and I got to the destination for the price marked. ### 5/5 — This app works perfectly in kigali *2025-12-17, version 10.5* I tried the app itself the best way to move around in Kigali the cars are brand new AC is perfect and you can choose your own music and the prices are more affordable than you might think. ### 5/5 — Nice cars *2019-08-22, version 3.3* Everyone should really move with VW Move. Drivers don’t seem to know they have a ride unless you call them. ### 2/5 — Clueless Drivers *2023-10-03, version 9.1* Whilst in Kigali this week, I have an aweful experience with almost ALL of the Move Drivers. 1) They take an unusually long time to arrive. Longer than what is written on the app as an expected arrival time. Often, the driver calls you to ask you where you are and HOW TO GET THERE! 2) Every single driver I’ve been in a car with has either made a phone call on their cellphone or answered a phone call and stopped focusing on the drive! 3) 4 out of the 5 rides we used; The driver would ask us how to get to our destination despite having a map on the app to direct them.
