### 2/5 — Great idea. Doesn’t work.

*2025-12-07, version 1.0.9*

It’s so easy to unblock apps that it’s effectively useless.

### 2/5 — Inaccurate step count

*2025-12-06, version 1.0.9*

Great concept, however it fails to record about 10% of my actual steps. My fitness app and my health app are in sync. For some reason, the Move to Scroll app is not in sync with them even though I granted permission during set up. It's frustrating knowing that I've walked 10k steps and my apps still being locked unless I hit 100-200 more. It's not the hugest deal to have to walk more..but that's the entire point of the app.

### 1/5 — Apps not blocked

*2025-11-01, version 1.0.8*

You have to pay to use the app just for it to not work. It doesn’t block my apps.

### 1/5 — can’t delete

*2025-10-27*

I now can’t uninstall this stupid app I’m trying to find a way to delete it but it won’t let me I wish I could give a zero out of five but I can’t 🙄

**Developer response:** Hi!

thank you for raising this issue, we have issued a fix for this!

If you update to the latest version of the application your issue will be resolved.

### 1/5 — Great in concept

*2025-10-26*

Great in concept, poor in execution. The app doesn’t automatically work, you have to open it first in the morning, and then it’ll begin to block apps. But from what I can tell, if you open something else first, that remains unblocked. So this definitely does not help with mindless scrolling.

Second, the app keeps freezing and requiring a force quit when I try to edit which apps to include.

Had potential, but please please please don’t spend money on it yet.

**Developer response:** Hi! thank you for raising this issue, we have issued a fix for this! If you update to the latest version of the application your issue will be resolved.

### 1/5 — Unfortunate

*2025-10-20*

I should have listened to the reviews before I bought the year subscription because they're right. The app is super glitchy. It really only blocks all the apps I set 20% of the time. Other times it only blocks 10 apps that I set and I have to manually re-add the other 15 over again 5x a day. OR it doesn't block any apps at all. I saw they replied to reviews saying they fixed the issues but they are still very much there. There is also the added concern of how the subscription doesn't show up in my subscriptions tab on the app store app and there is no menu for my subscription in the actual app to cancel. I'm worried I will keep being charged for an app I don't even want anymore. I really do wish this app worked as it should because it would be a great concept, but it's just not good.

**Developer response:** Hi!

Thank you for this review, and we're sorry you've had a negative issue. We've fixed the app blocking issues in our latest update, so if you update your app it will solve the problems you're having (you're on 1.0.7, and the fix has been issued in 1.0.8)

If you go to your iphone settings and search for subscriptions, you will be able to manage your subscriptions from there!

All of our billing and subscriptions are managed by Apple.

We hope the latest update solves your issues!

### 1/5 — Needs more work

*2025-10-16*

It’s a good idea in theory, but it made my phone unbearably hot, then it wouldn’t let me turn on screen time permissions so it didn’t actually block any of my apps. Wasted $10 and would not recommend until they work out the problems

**Developer response:** Hi!

Thank you for the feedback!

We've just pushed an update that greatly improves the app blocking & unblocking! It should fix all the problems you mentioned here!

Thank you for trying our app and we're sorry about your first impression, please let us know what you think about the improvements!

### 1/5 — good idea

*2025-10-15*

it’s a good idea but when I try to update which apps I want blocked/ unblocked, it shows it’s saved on the app but doesn’t actually work - sometimes the apps that are supposed to be blocked are not and vice versa. Especially since this is a subscription model, I would expect it to work :(

note: would also be nice to have a feature where I can customize different apps requiring different amount of steps

**Developer response:** Hi!

Thank you for the feedback!

We've just pushed an update that greatly improves the app blocking & unblocking! It should fix all the problems you mentioned here!

We're also going to be adding the feature to set different step goals per app as per your feedback here!

### 1/5 — It’s an idea

*2025-10-15, version 1.0.7*

This app is just a concept of forcing you to move to scroll. But it doesn’t actually
Block apps until you complete your steps.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2025-10-15*

In theory, this should be a great app. The problem is it’s a waste of money and a total scam. I paid $35 for a yearly subscription because I wanted to get serious about using my phone less. But now every time I go into the app, it wants me to pay again. Tried to hit “restore purchase” and it says there are no active subscriptions on my account, despite it showing as active in my apple subscriptions. Nowhere for me to submit an issue on the developer website either.

**Developer response:** Hi!

We're very sorry for this experience.

We were unaware of this bug and will aim to get it fixed as soon as possible.

If you would like a refund you can request one from apple here: https://support.apple.com/en-za/118223

To bypass the restore purchases bug, you can simply press "continue", and where it asks for payment confirmation, you should see in the bottom text it will say "subscription will be billed when the current subscription expires". It will not charge you, and you will be let back into the app.

Apple won't allow you to have multiple subscriptions, so this is a work around, but this error is unacceptable on our side and we aim to have it fixed as soon as possible

### 1/5 — Not Free

*2025-10-15, version 1.0.7*

Have to pay a subscription to use this app

### 1/5 — Unable to Cancel

*2025-10-14, version 1.0.7*

I tried this app and realized it wasn’t for me. I cancelled my free trial before the end date but was still charged. Tried to contact Move to Scroll through their website several times but the contact form does not go through.

### 1/5 — App won’t let me turn off restrictions

*2025-10-14*

It gave me a free trial and then asked for my permission to control my screen time and then crashed and is back on the subscription page. now i still haven’t payed for it, It’s not letting me turn off permissions to manage my screen time, and I can’t delete the app

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible don’t download

*2026-06-21, version 1.2.1*

I just don’t understand why I have to pay. The point of the app it to get off the phone but why do we have to pay for an app that helps people. Just horrible. Don’t download.

### 1/5 — Hidden pay to use

*2026-01-12, version 1.1.0*

Makes you fill out a bunch of questions before asking if you want to pay them monthly or yearly to use their app.

### 1/5 — Great idea but

*2026-01-10*

Great idea but you can literally just override it by removing the app you want blocked from the blocked list so it didn’t help me. If I wanted to use the app I could just unblock it in the settings

### 1/5 — Overcharged

*2026-01-04*

Signed up for the $14 plan for the month. Was charged $43! Have contacted the developer and Apple and PayPal and I’m expecting a refund. Absolutely disgraceful and false advertising.

**Developer response:** Hi!

I'm sorry about this, we do all of our billing via Apple and the prices cannot be changed by us, nor can we grant the refund, however you can request it via Apple.

Just to clarify, as Apple handles all of our billing we cannot purposefully overcharge you, however we will work to make the selected plan clearer to avoid any confusion

### 1/5 — Paid Only

*2026-01-02*

Wish there was a free version even to lock one app. Love the idea but who can afford this kind of thing nowadays

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2025-12-28*

You cant even test the app or do anything after answering their questions. It immediately asks for a subscription. You cant see the features, how the apps word or if its even that good.

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2025-12-22*

Honestly for having to pay this app is super disappointing, it literally stopped working I forgot about the app, no matter how many times I undo the block apps and redo it, it doesn’t work, again for an app that makes you pay to use it I would think they’d have more features as well or different goals you can put for different apps, it’s just not what I thought it would be

**Developer response:** Hi Stawrp!

We're sorry to hear this.

Please can you email us as we'd like to investigate this issue and make sure it's solved!

Thank you for the recommendation on the different goals for different apps!

### 1/5 — DO NOT INSTALL

*2025-12-18*

This app uses Screen Time in a way that can permanently disable app deletion on iPhone. After installing it, my phone stopped allowing apps to be deleted (only “Remove from Home Screen”).
There is no easy fix. Apple’s only solution is a full reset without restoring backups. This is a serious system level issue and users are NOT properly warned. Do not install!!!!!!!!

**Developer response:** Hi Jojo!

Please feel free to email us and we'll help you fix this asap!

You should only be unable to delete apps when "hard mode" is engaged in your settings, however if you need a workaround, you can go into your settings, and disable screen time controls for our application and you'll be able to bypass it and delete.

No need for a full reset!

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2025-12-13, version 1.0.9*

Doesn’t keep track of steps on a treadmill waste of money don’t buy app

### 1/5 — Just make the app itself cost money

*2025-12-01*

Stop blocking all features behind a paywall. Just make the app cost money to download. It’s very frustrating to download an app and spend time setting it up just to have it be unusable

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I LOVE THE APP

*2025-12-10, version 1.0.9*

For me is “killing 2 birds one stone,” I reduce my screen time plus getting my steps

### 5/5 — The one app that helped me

*2025-10-21*

Social media has taken over my life and my time. This is the one app that helped me get my time back AND helped me to get more steps in every day!! I tried using Screen Time and App limits but I would just snooze them 15 min at a time. With “move to scroll” I am actually blocked until I hit a certain # of steps. Thank you to the app creators!!

### 5/5 — awesome app

*2025-10-13, version 1.0.7*

the negative comments aren’t it, this app is amazing. they have made so much improvements and it works wonderful.

### 5/5 — best thing i’ve ever tried

*2025-10-13, version 1.0.7*

1000% wroth trying despite the negative comments. this app actually works so well and is so effective. i’ve been way happier and have had energy and more motivation just by walking more and i don’t feel so stuck.

### 5/5 — Simple but effective!

*2025-08-26*

I’ve been trying to up my steps and stop myself scrolling on social media in the mornings. This has been a game changer for that!

### 4/5 — Add New Features

*2026-04-23*

Overall, I like the app. It’s helped some with screen time, and I like that they added the minutes earned feature cuz that keeps me from unblocking all the apps & getting sucked back in. I’d like to suggest an option where we customize a list of apps to block instead of just categories. For example, every day I go into “social” and select individual apps cuz I can’t select the whole category cuz that’d include text & FaceTime. If I can just create a list of the apps I want to stay off of all day, that’d be way more efficient. Also, I’d love an option where the block kicks on automatically at a certain time. I scroll late & wake up & scroll. If my selected apps automatically locked at 6am, then I’d stop wasting my mornings scrolling. Until then, I’ll try discipline to lock my apps before bed.

### 4/5 — Updated Review

*2025-10-27*

My first review was in mid-October. As of 10/27, my issues have been resolved. It’s a good app, just not what I was looking for.

Earlier review: I tried this app and realized it wasn’t for me. I cancelled my free trial before the end date but was still charged. Tried to contact Move to Scroll through their website several times but the contact form does not go through.

**Developer response:** Hi!

Our apologies for this experience.

Please note that Apple handles all of our billing, so if you would like to request a refund from them you can do so here: https://support.apple.com/en-za/118223

As for the email support, feel free to email us here if there's anything else we can do!
Pete@movetoscroll.com

### 3/5 — Bug

*2026-03-27*

The new update doesn’t work. It began with me havinging unlock apps for a set time (ex. 15 mins) and it will lock before that set time (ex. 5 mins). And now it won’t let me unlock my apps at all. Considering I pay for that app I don’t expect things like this to happen. I’m spending money on an application that isn’t working.

### 3/5 — Good but easy to get out of

*2025-10-18*

I wish there was no easy option for you to remove apps on the blocked list at any moment. Makes it easy to just turn it off so not really a point to the app.
Good concept though

**Developer response:** Hi!

Thank you for the feedback!

We're going to be adding a "hard mode" so that you can't change any of the settings while blocking, it's around 1 - 2 weeks away!

### 3/5 — Apple Watch

*2025-10-13, version 1.0.7*

Do not know if it’s just my setting but it will only count steps form my phone. Not my watch. Can anyone help?
