Honestly sometimes their review is over the top but I at least can know what I am getting into before starting a movie. There are number of bad reviews for this app complaining about search. The search is located at the bottom bar. And it is clearly visible. Not sure why all the fuss is about negative reviews? If you thinking to install this app, please do so. It gives you in depth description for the movie and analysis it for you so you don’t have to . Their easy to use app and website provide media discernment and reviews for the latest movie+tv shows. Movieguide is constantly striving to produce objective reviews which reveal content at face value. I would use this app any day of the week:) perfect for families. Moms, kids, and when you want to go to see a movie but not waste $15. ### 2/5 — Is this the beta version? *2018-07-30, version 4.3.1* Disappearing search bar and navigation bars earn this app 2 stars. I think we got the beta release. ### 2/5 — Reviews are great, app not so much *2017-07-08* This is the movieguide website wrapped inside an app. Please hire a new app developer who believes in native iOS apps instead of web apps. This app (both the paid and lite versions) could be so much faster and responsive if they were native. And provide an API for other movie apps to integrate/link to your ratings. The full reviews are great for more leisurely environments. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — So disappointed *2024-06-26* I was so grateful to find an app that firstly appeared to be of Christian origin and secondly, provided so much detail about whether or not a movie used God or Jesus Christs name in vain and poof: just as of last week, every review has been modified to state there are PROFANITIES…. Really sad and utterly disappointing. ### 1/5 — Strong Christian fundamentalist bias. *2022-07-19* Important to know they rate movies based on their fundamental Christian beliefs and therefore disparage any progressive or positive diversity content. ### 1/5 — Not a Family guide. A Christian guide. *2022-07-03, version 5.1.7* If you are very Christian and things like Harry Potter are offensive to you, this app is what you’re looking for. For the rest of us, this guide goes way too far with criticism of anything that’s not The Passion of Christ. If you like a more contemporary - stay away from this app! ### 1/5 — Boo *2018-02-20, version 4.3.1* What a dumb app. The search button and menu buttons briefly appear when the app opens but then disappear. There is no way to access anything but the articles on the main page. ### 1/5 — Cannot get to the menu, nor search. *2018-01-06* I’ve been using the website for years. Download the app today and discovered that I cannot get the menu, nor the search function. Perhaps it’s an issue with the latest release of iOS? For now, it’s a pass. Additionally, hitting the “app support“ button in the App Store brings me to the General website instead of getting me actual support. ### 1/5 — Marginal *2014-03-17, version 3.2* Limited selection of movies. The articles are generally okay. But I would enjoy their feature articles more if the didn't use them as a platform to bash other faiths and denominations. To me this is completely out of place, unnecessary and just plain juvenile. ### 1/5 — This used to be useful *2014-01-04, version 3.2* This is a great idea for an app. Too bad they seemed to have dropped it. Now when I open it, the app crashes after a splash screen. Rebooted my iPad, same story. I checked out their "App Support," but it's just a link to their ministry web page. No sign of a link about the app or support for it. ### 1/5 — No search in free version *2012-09-22, version 2.2* You can't search movies in the free version. Why not have one version with all features and just include ads? This is the route you took on your website. Why not take the same strategy with your app?
