The reason for this app should be to quickly access the database to be found on the full website, but it does not appear to connect to that database as advertised and only presents pushed content. That pushed content is the reason for the two stars. Otherwise, in its current version it is not yet professional. Keep trying guys! ### 3/5 — Crashes too many times *2019-12-31, version 5.0.8* Could be better but the content is great ### 2/5 — Very poor search option *2019-12-06* I have loved the reviews on MG for over 15 years, and the reviews continue to be excellent. HOWEVER there is no way to filter Search for a list of appropriate movies by Quality AND Content, as there was on the Original website. I have emailed MG several times asking for this feature to be added back. I was told a few months ago they were working on a new version. I was so exited to see this update, but so disappointed to see the Search is still limited to one line. ### 2/5 — Love the content, but this app violates Apple developer guidelines *2017-09-28* Love the Movieguide content, but it sadly violates Apple App Store developer guidelines. It is a repackaged version of the website and contains little to no app features, no native user interface (as it used to), and is simply not a useful app like it used to be. It's as if nobody at Movieguide actually uses the app on a daily basis to search for movies, navigate content, get alerts about the latest reviews. There isn't any watchlist functionality. The navigation is broken and you can't get back to the main home screen after looking at a review. From section 4.2 of the developer guidelines: "Your app should include features, content, and UI that elevate it beyond a repackaged website. If your app is not particularly useful, unique, or “app-like,” it doesn’t belong on the App Store." Please devote more resources toward making a real native Movieguide app. ### 5/5 — Great Update *2015-12-22, version 4.0* This new update is fantastic! Especially love that I can listen to their podcast on it now! ### 2/5 — Not usable *2015-11-29, version 3.6* If I search for a title, the app crashes. Every time. I've updated, deleted, and reloaded. Slow, does't scale correctly and needs to be rewritten. Far larger catalog of reviews for streaming services that movie guide lite offers just wish their was more under the pure flix section! Search works for me as well! Which is great because I can look up any show and 9/10 times find a review on it! One of the most important parts for me is right at the end of the review each time it goes over the values and morals the movie or tv being reviewed observes or does not observe in some cases with its creative choices!
