### 2/5 — Frequent issues

*2026-08-18, version 4.9.4*

If I have notifications, I click on the button to view them and there is no text or data.

When I am wanting to use more tickets than my reservation, my app does not prompt me to use more points. My friend does it and it allows more points to be used to buy when more points are required.

### 4/5 — Convenient at best.

*2026-08-04, version 4.9.4*

When it works, it’s great! Sometimes it can be glitchy.

### 2/5 — Frustrated _customer

*2026-07-07, version 4.9.0*

I tried to cancel my subscription but the help section says to go to account and click on subscription, only when I do that there is no subscription. The picture shows it under profile, but it is not there on the app. Customer service is extremely hard to find. I am super annoyed and frustrated. This app is not user-friendly in the least.

### 4/5 — Movie Lover

*2026-07-02, version 4.9.0*

Should Be Able To Purchase More Than 1 Ticket - Credits Available - And You Should Be Able To Get Tickets In Advance, On Any Day, Not Just The Day Of…
Other Than That, It’s The Bomb!

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2026-06-04, version 4.6.3*

My wife and I have been users in MoviePass for many years, and also the time we haven’t used this to its full extent, probably probably costing us more money than we would’ve paid if we just paid for the movies. However, this latest update to the app, which we just gone to after a hiatus of going to the movies at all, at proven be incredibly frustrating. And seemingly designed to frustrate. Specifically, my wife was. Unable to sign in, and the only way to get help is to sign into the app. I was able to reach them on my app on my phone, but then getting her signed in was quite difficult. Nathan, the agent who I got to, was quite helpful. But the design of the app is nonsensical. Doesn’t support automatic input by password apps. This makes it less secure than putting in a complicated password, which is almost impossible to keep track of remember. Very discipline.

### 4/5 — They responded to review

*2026-06-02, version 4.6.2*

They responded to my review leased with that

### 1/5 — Total Scam

*2026-05-25, version 4.6.2*

It’s almost 1 for 1 what you pay to get a movie ticket and you’ll likely need to pay more just to see a movie. The first and only time I tried to book a movie failed technologically with the app and I had to contant support. Do NOT waste your time or money on this scam.

### 1/5 — Nice idea, poorly done

*2026-05-24, version 4.6.2*

This is a great idea but continues to be poorly executed. Customer service is sadly lacking and were contacted (their note indicates they weren't). App glitched when I went to a movie theater 45 minutes away, customer service had no empathy. This also happened with billing. I would love to take down this review if it were to be resolved.

### 3/5 — Update sucks

*2026-05-23, version 3.3.1*

I love this but support for ok
Left phones is no existent

### 1/5 — This is a scam

*2026-05-03, version 4.6.1*

1. This app gives you maybe $2 off your ticket, but for one movie a month, maybe if you’re lucky based off how many points they make each movie.
2. It has “taxes” and takes extra points away when bought too, and if you purchase online it’ll more than likely take another point away or say you don’t have enough.
3. If you have extra points, you can’t use them in the same month…which doesn’t make since.
3. To many steps to purchase a ticket for a movie.
This apps a total waist of time and there was a reason why they went bankrupt/ out of business once already.

Lame 🤡 App

### 2/5 — Allow me to favorite theaters

*2026-04-26, version 4.6.1*

“Theaters” list defaults to sorting theaters by location. I often purchase tickets at home, but my favorite theaters are far away (and therefore far down the list). I’d like to be able to favorite some theaters so that they consistently appear at the top of the theaters list.

### 1/5 — Meh

*2026-03-29, version 4.5.1*

Meh

### 1/5 — WASTE OF MONEY

*2026-03-27, version 4.5.1*

Literally the worst waste of money. The app never works. Customer service has to do everything for you. It’s cheaper to just buy a $15 movie ticket per month. I tried to cancel after it accidentally auto renewed and they wouldn’t let me. I don’t know how this company is still in business.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2026-03-20, version 4.5.1*

Terrible customer service and they do not care at all about retaining loyal customers.

### 1/5 — Waste of Money

*2026-03-09, version 4.5.1*

This is one of the most frustrating apps I’ve ever used. It is full of bugs and constantly creates problems while booking tickets. Even after paying money to buy credits, I still have to contact customer support almost every time because something goes wrong.

Booking a ticket on this app takes ridiculously long ,it literally feels like watching a full movie before the process finishes.

The customer service is even worse. They rarely resolve issues and sometimes close the chat without even answering the question. It feels like they don’t care about users at all.

I paid money expecting a smooth experience, but instead I get constant problems and useless support. This app honestly doesn’t even deserve 1 star.

### 1/5 — Garbage—waste of money

*2026-03-07, version 4.5.1*

Awful app. Not worth it. Nothing like the original app which was a good deal. This is a version where you might save a few dollars if you are in the 1% of users who go to the theater bet consistently but not too often to just the right theaters. Even though it’s more hassle than it’s worth. I think you could end up paying more than in the theater using this. I wasted over $100 and the credits expired very quickly so I couldn’t use them. I feel like I was robbed. I hope they go under again if they don’t change their product. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS TRASH APP!

### 4/5 — Tell A Friend!

*2026-02-27, version 4.4.1*

I Tell Everyone I Know About #MoviePass - It’s So Cool!
I Do Wish I Could See More Than 1 Movie A Day, & Possibly Buy At Least 2 Tickets - Credit Allowing…
& Since You Can’t, Where’s The Option To Refer Friends & Family?
Is That No Longer A Thing?

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2026-02-26, version 4.4.1*

I was all excited to finally use some of my credits today for a movie marathon like I would do with my AMC Stubs pass just to find out, no matter how many credits you have, you can only watch one movie a day. That’s ridiculous. I should be able to go to see multiple movies in a day if I want.

### 1/5 — Virtual card missing

*2026-02-21, version 4.4.0*

In the instructions, it says “The credit card information can be easily accessed by clicking on the "Account" icon on the bottom, far right of the app, and then clicking on "My Card". I can’t find “My Card” anywhere on my app. I have the latest update. Help!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrendous

*2026-08-23, version 4.9.5*

One of the worst apps ever. I’ve tried over a thousand times to use my movie credits for an any movie upgrade and it just constantly crashes. I try to use my movie credits for a different less know theatre and it constantly asks me if it’s okay to use 1 extra credit and it cancels my order/doesn’t complete the order every single time. I’ve just got ghost credits and meaningless purchase power at this point.

### 1/5 — I Can’t Even Sign In

*2026-08-13, version 4.9.4*

I signed up on a whim as I wanted to start up a hobby of going to theaters again, but the app crashes as soon as i open it at sign in. I’m worried about not being able to cancel the subscription or get a refund now.

### 1/5 — Total scam stay away

*2026-08-01, version 4.9.4*

This app and membership is a total scam. They make the credits effectively impossible to use. They also expire periodically so you can’t accumulate enough to see the movies you want. All new releases are always more credits than the monthly allowance. I had the yearly subscription and they did not clarify they’d charge me for a 2nd year. When I tried to use the credits for a movie there was no way to actually buy the ticket with it. I ended up just paying for a ticket. Reached out to customer support who said I would need a physical membership card, which they eventually mailed to me. Overall they’ve charge me nearly $300 and I have seen ZERO movies. Total scam. Stay away. Don’t make my mistake.

### 1/5 — Credits will just disappear out of nowhere.

*2026-07-30, version 4.9.4*

Do not download. Credits just disappear if you don’t use them!

### 1/5 — Terrible app, predatory practices

*2026-07-27, version 4.9.3*

I foolishly signed up during a discounted trial period. Towards the end I went to the app to cancel only to see no cancel button and a message saying my subscription is ending next month. Great! I thought, there’s nothing to be done. Then a few months later I notice they’ve still been charging me monthly. My fault for not checking my billing statements closely. I try to log back into my account to check my subscription but I can’t even do it because the app keeps crashing (already have the latest version). I ask for a refund, they say they only refund the most recent month but that I can escalate to the billing department. Or they can give me some credits. I ask them to escalate and they say they can only refund the recent month. I say then fine give me the credits. They say we already gave you that partial refund so credits aren’t an option anymore. Genuinely the most predatory company I’ve interacted with and that’s saying a lot.. would honestly rather pay triple for movie tickets for the rest of my life than interact with them again. Lesson learned to never sign up with my actual credit card!

### 1/5 — Tried after it came back.

*2026-07-18, version 4.9.2*

Had trouble first movie I wanted to see. Second movie worked fine. Log in. Or any promos through email have never worked. If everything is working smooth it offers value. Feels like it’s full of bugs everytime I try to sue this service. Maybe I’ll come back in a year and try again. This year didn’t work well. Promo could invalid from a promo email sent TODAY.

### 1/5 — Waste of time!

*2026-07-13, version 4.9.2*

This is a really bad design compared to what it used to be. The app has bugs and charges you twice for the same purchase, then the help desk informs you there’s nothing they can do about it! The monthly charges are up by $3 and the credits don’t even roll over if you have a new account. My friend has an old account and his monthly charge remains the old one and his credits roll over every month. Waste of time and money.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-06-12, version 4.7.0*

Not even close to what it used to be and super frustrating app. Doesn’t work half the time and I end up paying $156 per year to see one movie. A joke!

### 1/5 — App is worst not able to view notifications

*2026-06-12, version 4.7.0*

Notifications not visible in iOS when tried to pay it asks to load points but notifications not visible to click and proceed
Total waste of $25 subscription

### 1/5 — Truly Useless Service + App

*2026-06-08, version 4.6.3*

They have made this service so narrow and fine print-y that it’s borderline impossible to use unless you want to see movies last minute by yourself. You can’t get them more than a couple hours in advance so it’s impossible to plan. And if they don’t allow you to type in your stupid fake “card” number you legit can’t use it at all because they never send you a real card. I bought a year of service and I regret it every month when I can see like no movies and I end up buying tickets to go see shows with friends ANYWAY. Save your money!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This app rocks and I used the original

*2026-07-13, version 4.9.2*

Okay so the original app sad to say wasn’t financially viable. This one actually is. I love the credit system. I wish they’d give us the options for imax and Dolby or specialty theaters but that’s not a biggie. I will admit I have this and A list. I even have gone to 5 movies in one day using both. MoviePass is a great service especially for those that maybe only go to a few movies a week or a month. It’s better than any service the other chains offer like Cinemark or Regal. Their plans well Cinemark doesn’t have one and Regals plan you have to pay up charges if you want to watch on a bigger screen and to cancel you have to email someone and hope they cancel before they charge you. You also have to do 3 months period but everyone has switched to that I believe minus MoviePass.

So I don’t get all the bad ratings for this app. It’s almost as if they have never had a service like this and don’t get what it’s about. I used to use my MoviePass for my local theater then it shutdown but now a new one is open. Cinemark. It’s only 20 minutes from my home whereas AMC is an hour. So I look forward to using my MoviePass more often now.

Will say the 24 hour lock from when you purchase your last ticket kinda blows. So you have to time it right if you want to go watch another movie the next day because you can’t get a ticket till after 24 hours after you clicked on the last film. I get why but I wish they reset everyday giving you more flexibility but when you realize that feature you just work around it.

So for those angry at the app I’d love to know why you’re angry. Moviepass rocks and Stacey Spikes has brought back a great app that is highly competitive in the industry and better yet helps get movie lovers into movie theaters. That’s what movie theaters want. Anyway give Moviepass a try. If you aren’t sure go for the 1st or 2nd tier and see if you use up the credits you have for the month or save some. The saved credits do roll over to your max allotment. I myself am curious will I use up my credits now that a local theater is near my home.

Of course I still have AMC but I watch 3-4 movies in one day because driving an hour to an hour plus doesn’t make financial sense with gas so high. So THANK YOU STACEY for bringing back an awesome app.

### 5/5 — Moviepass

*2025-12-09, version 4.0.2*

If you love movies you need Moviepass! It saves us so much. Best investment for a family who loves film.

### 5/5 — Perfect for Movie Lovers!

*2025-09-19, version 3.6.3*

I’ve been a happy MoviePass customer since 2016, and it’s been such a great experience. My wife and I both use it and really enjoy catching regional as well as English movies. The app makes it easy to book, and it’s been a fantastic way for us to watch more films together. Highly recommend for any movie lover!

### 5/5 — Great but some downsides

*2025-09-19, version 3.6.3*

I really enjoy this. Can save a lot of money. But I don’t like you have to pay more to make the purchases online. Also the fact they increased some of the costs for movies to be MORE than one month of credits is silly in my opinion. They should never be more than one month.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-09-19, version 3.6.3*

Great for any movie lover. It’s not perfect in any means, there are ways to improve but it’s awesome.

### 5/5 — A must have for cinephiles

*2025-09-19*

I’ve been a movie pass member almost since it started and was devastated during its hiatus only to be ecstatic at its return. For someone like me that spends as much free time at the movies as possible, the deal can’t be beat. So many more theatres are accessible now than in those early days and having roll-over points means that I don’t have to fret if I’ve missed a couple months of use AND I can double feature if I want to. The online purchase option can be clunky, but I’ve been fortunate to have a pretty smooth experience overall. As a long time member, the only thing I’d like to see is more partnerships between MoviePass and small cinemas and drive-ins; granted the selection of theatres I’ve had thus far has been satisfactory.

**Developer response:** Wow - thanks for that great review. The good news is that we are trying to form more partnerships with smaller theater chains and that could be a big win for customers like you. Keep enjoying MoviePass and we'll see you at the movies!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-09-18, version 3.6.3*

Love using movie pass! My husband and I love doing date nights at the movies and MoviePass helps it become more affordable!

### 5/5 — Totally worth it

*2025-09-16, version 3.6.3*

Even though the price has increased recently a little bit, the app experience is great and the customer service is even better. Definitely worth a try.

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-09-16, version 3.6.3*

Great way to go to the movies!

### 5/5 — Worth the money

*2025-09-15, version 3.6.3*

After I bought the subscription I was able to watch more movies than before with less cost.
