My friends today are Extremely different today vs then. Don’t use my apple sign in for logins. ### 5/5 — Most Beautiful & Useful App Ever *2025-02-27* Mozi is one of the few apps on my phone that’s both stunning and truly useful. I use it every other day. Instead of adding new contacts directly to my iPhone, I save them on Mozi first—it saves them automatically in my iPhone contact list AND captures details my phone’s contact list doesn’t, like the date of when I first met someone. It also organizes contacts by location, making it easy to see who’s nearby when I’m planning a brunch or visiting a city. And as a frequent traveler, I love that it shows me where my friends will be, so we never miss a chance to connect. Visual is so much better and imagine being able to see where everyone is by city now n in future? During covid all my friends moved away and getting them all in the same room isn't easy, let alone the same city. I highly recommend. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — A dud with no users *2025-05-09, version 1.30.1* I am the ideal customer, a Bay Area tech person with thousands of contacts from multiple decades here, and literally only one person on the app after six months. If you're not going to use a social network to boot strap this, which I respect, you have to find some other way to build a graph. I'd be embarrassed to invite people to a social network with no users without some other reason, and I'm not just gonna send it to thousands of people I know to see who thinks it would be cool. ### 1/5 — Forced updates *2025-05-08, version 1.30.0* The app is for traveling and locations. However it requires downloading an update before opening the app, which is a horrible practice if you are roaming or on a limited data plan, and it’s just lazy engineering. ### 1/5 — One of those apps nobody really asked for *2025-04-17, version 1.27.0* The whole app feels like a boomer trying to make a cool social network service in 2025. Super pumped to try this new hookup app after seeing it on insta. they ask for relationship status, location, pet names (kinky 😏)… super lame when I found out it was a travel app. And before you respond saying it’s getting more granular (whats that mean?) and local, I just need to know if im gonna get some ladies soon… ### 1/5 — So out of touch and unnecessary *2024-12-23* I find this app to be out of touch. So many Americans live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to afford groceries. Many are lucky if they can take even 1 vacation a year! But good thing there’s now an app for spoiled jet-setting nepo babies to share their travel plans and meet up with friends while they pollute our planet with CO2 emissions. For the majority of people, the whole concept of this app can be accomplished with a simple group text. **Developer response:** We hear you Ruben3DPrinted, and appreciate your perspective. Currently, the smallest unit of time in Mozi is one day, and smallest unit of location is a city, but if you stick with us, we are headed more granular, on both dimensions. This will allow you to enter (and discover) everyday social plans, like going to a concert/sporting event, headed to the park/beach. We're building Mozi to make it easier to know where your people are and where they're going, so you can see each other more, IRL. If you have more thoughts that will help us get there, feel free to reach out directly, anytime (community@mozi.app). ### 1/5 — Sign in with Apple is way too restrictive *2024-12-13, version 1.14.0* I would like to try Mozi but only having a "Sign in with Apple" makes it a no go for me at the moment. I am expecting other types of "sign in" like with an email, a phone number (should support SIP numbers) or a Google or Meta account as examples. ### 2/5 — Promotes privacy as an oasis, doesn’t work without sending all your contacts *2025-03-08* App has great premise (early 2000s were full of these), but its promotion of being a private place is false. You can ONLY add people by sharing your entire contacts list with them. Why is this important? Mozi is not really ever going to be a full Product, it’s really a feature (where are my friends?). That means someone will buy this for the user base and then bolt it onto their revenue-generating product. **Developer response:** Hey Nic1991_, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I hope it’s reassuring to know that our team takes user privacy and data encryption incredibly seriously—so much so that, in some ways, it’s slowed us down from doing things other social networks might optimize for. All the contacts you share with us are encrypted (we use hashing), and we only connect you with people who mutually have each other saved in their phone books. We’ve heard this makes for a really delightful experience. That said, we’re actively working on improving the experience for folks who choose not to share contacts—finding ways for them to still get the most out of Mozi. More to come soon. Thanks again for being here! ### 2/5 — Buggy interface makes the app unusable *2024-12-14* I wouldn’t be writing this review if I didn’t think it was an amazing concept. I really need this app and I want to share it will everyone I know. Came here from Mark Andreesen’s X. But on the home page, when I press the plus button, it goes gray and nothing happens. Persists even with app relaunch. So the app is completely unusable. Also, please develop compatibility with smaller iPhones (I have an SE). ### 2/5 — Not Sure Why *2024-12-14* Pretty design but trying to understand why someone would use this? Particularly w a 24 character limit in the ‘what are you going to be doing’ intake field. I then will then find myself (group) texting/FT etc individual(s) to provide an actual itinerary? Also, couldn’t see who our location data is being sold to..which is how I would guess the app generates revenue. So fun to share and document private get togethers with friends, as well connect with friends while traveling!! I’m generally a private person and don’t like broadcasting things on most social media platforms.
