## What is mPixFolio?

mPixFolio is a private photo manager for your iPhone and iPad.

Your photos are yours. Cloud backup is end-to-end encrypted with a key only you hold, so nobody else — including us — can read what you back up.

BROWSE YOUR LIBRARY
• Fast timeline and album views across your whole photo library
• Favourites and a full-screen viewer with a built-in editor
• A memory from this day resurfaces each morning, on a Home Screen widget if you like

BACK UP WHAT MATTERS
• End-to-end encrypted cloud backup, folder by folder
• Restore to any of your devices using your recovery key
• See at a glance what is backed up and what still needs to go

SHARE ALBUMS PRIVATELY
• Create an album, invite people, and photos are delivered encrypted
• Invited contributors can add their own photos to a shared album

MOVE PHOTOS BETWEEN YOUR OWN DEVICES
• Send photos to the mPixFolio desktop app over your own Wi-Fi
• Direct device-to-device transfer, so large libraries need not go through a server when a local route is available

MAKE IT YOURS
• Eleven themes, four layouts, twelve typefaces and seventeen languages

PRIVACY BY DEFAULT
• No ads and no tracking
• Optional diagnostics you can switch off in Settings
• Delete your account and your data from inside the app at any time

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 15 — 2026-10-14

Share a photograph out of a shared album

An album someone shared with you used to be a place you could only look. Its members may now pass its photographs on to any other app — from the album's selection strip, from a tile's long-press menu, or from the full-screen viewer. Who may do it follows the role you were given, so a contributor can send on a photograph the owner put there without that implying they could delete it. A selection that has only partly downloaded sends what arrived and says how many were left out, rather than failing as a whole.

Memories, and the notification that carries them

A memory notification now leads with a photograph rather than a frame grabbed from a video, and a memory that is itself a video gets a sharp poster frame aimed at its subject instead of whatever the first moment happened to hold. The square portrait now stays on the expanded card, where it reads as who the memory is about beside a band that is mostly scenery. Days nobody photographed are no longer offered as a memory, and an app's name is no longer mistaken for the name of an album.

Telling us how it is going

A short prompt now appears after something has gone well — a restore that finished, an album that arrived — asking how the app is treating you. Answer that it is going well and you are offered the review page; answer that it is not and the note comes to us instead, where it can be acted on. It is one tap to dismiss either way, and declining is remembered.

Fixes

Closing a sign-in sheet without finishing is no longer recorded as a failure of the app. A shared album stops trying to re-deliver itself once the cloud plan behind it has lapsed.

Memories that agree with each other

The home-screen widget, the memory card in the Gallery and the daily notification now describe a moment in the same words. Each carries a badge that says how long ago it was — "A trip · 2 years ago", "A week ago" — and an anniversary keeps its own, like "3 years ago today". A moment whose date is only a stand-in gets no age at all; a guess dressed up as a fact is the one thing a memory must never be.

Memories lead with the people in them

A memory now looks for the faces in a day's photographs before it chooses one, instead of only in pictures you had already scrolled past — so a portrait session from a January you have not revisited can win the morning, and a view with nobody in it steps aside while there are faces to show. Faces far from the camera count too, and the photograph is framed around the people in it rather than the empty sky above their heads.

The home-screen widget

A card prepared ahead of time for tomorrow now says the right age on the day you actually see it. The filmstrip under the photograph shows only thumbnails that really exist — no more grey placeholder tiles — and when there are none, the photograph fills the whole widget, with a "+N" count in its corner for what else the moment holds.

Video controls that work sideways

Turn the phone and a video's play, skip-back and skip-forward buttons now respond. They sat underneath the scrubber's touch area in landscape, so tapping play jumped the clip instead of starting it. A sideways video also gets much more of the screen: the filmstrip steps aside and the top bar reads on one line, so the picture takes the room the chrome was using.

Removing a photo or video from the viewer

Tapping the trash in the full-screen viewer now asks you to confirm, and removes what you chose. On iPhone and iPad the confirmation was never shown, so the button appeared to do nothing at all. Declining the system's permission prompt is now treated as a cancellation rather than reported as a failure, and a video you decided to keep no longer disappears from the grid while the file is still on the device.

Memories named after where you were

A memory is no longer titled "Camera". Your phone's own camera folder says nothing about where a moment happened, so memories now carry a place you named — an album you made — and otherwise show the date under the photograph.

### 12 — 2026-09-24

The whole screen for the whole photograph

A tall photograph now fills the screen in both the gallery and the album viewer, instead of sitting in the middle with empty bands above and below it. The solid bars the controls used to sit on are gone: they are a soft gradient now, so the picture runs edge to edge while the clock, the back arrow and the buttons stay readable over it.

Video controls in a single row

Play, the elapsed time, the scrubber and mute now share one slim row on that gradient, instead of a bordered card stacked under the picture. While a video plays the middle of the screen stays clear, the way a phone gallery does it; the large play button comes back when you pause or reach the end, which is when a big target is worth covering the picture for. Speed and looping moved into the menu.

Fixes

Memory notifications no longer fall silent after your device clock moves backwards, and no longer count a notification you were never shown as one you had already seen.

### 11 — 2026-09-22

Your photograph, not the frame

The full-screen viewer is a dark room now, whatever theme you use. A light frame put bright bands around every picture, and those are gone. Photographs are laid out between the controls instead of behind them, so nothing is cropped, and hiding the controls gives the whole screen back.

A filmstrip that points at the picture

The thumbnails step down in size and brightness from the centre outwards, so the one you are looking at stays obvious even in the middle of a swipe.

Fixes

The clock, Wi-Fi and battery stay readable over the viewer's dark controls after you switch theme.
