Always a slant, just give Minnesotans the news. ### 2/5 — Audio takeover *2026-04-02* I agree with the previous comments. If I’m streaming MPR and I get a call, or click on a FB post with sound, MPR doesn’t pause as it used to. Very disruptive and very annoying. If you are listening to audio in this app and you open another app that has audio the second app freezes. The new app is awful on iPhone. The audio will automatically switch from headphones to speaker with incoming calls. Not at all intuitive or user friendly. Now I have to go through 3 steps to get to the listen icon. When I answer a phone call the radio keeps playing in the background- it used to automatically stop when the phone rang. I have to go back to the app and pause it. It is so annoying. No discernible benefit to this update. Just full of hassles. ### 1/5 — Audio forced takeover *2025-10-15* I don’t mind the new layout but it’s now multiple taps to do the one thing this app should do , stream MPR. ??? Besides that, the new coding has broken the iPhones ability to switch audio sources. If I’m listening to the app and I get a call on Teams or Webex or WhatsApp, the MPR stream does not pause. Which means I answer the call and then need to force quit the MPR app just to hear the other person. Massive QA fail. Same thing happens if I’m listening to MPR while scrolling a social app. If I tap on a video it should pause MPR and play the videos audio then restart MPR when the video is over. Instead it plays BOTH audio streams at the same time. EDIT had to downgrade to 1 Star If the app is running in the background and I launch ANY OTHER music or podcast app, this MPR app starts back up and takes over my audio Horrid. (Old review: The only reason this gets 2 starts is because the content is MRP and that deserves something. The app itself, a disaster.) ### 1/5 — New streaming app *2025-10-09, version 4.16.3* Not sure what you have done but your revised app is terrible. I have been a listener of MPR for over 50 years. Yes I donate. Now I can’t get anything on my phone. Really, really disappointed!!!! ### 1/5 — Older app was magnitudes better *2025-10-08, version 4.16.3* New app does not pause when you’re getting a call. It also does not pause when you’re making a call. This amounts to a bad user experience. iOS 26 ### 1/5 — Awkward, doesn’t work well with IOS operations. *2025-10-08, version 4.16.3* If this app is on, you cannot use Siri, it constantly interrupts it. You have to quit the MPR app to use Siri. I kind of hate this app. ### 1/5 — Won’t go away *2025-09-18, version 4.16.3* You goofed! Now I have to poke options to listen to the news. Then when I want to see Facebook for a bit, MPR. Continued to play OVER other apps. So incredibly annoying! Now the only full screen is the scroll and you have to really scroll to see all the articles with no clue when you are at the end. Click on an article to read and the box is only 2/3 of the screen and the article is only half of that. Makes reading hard. Sad way to start my day. This doesn’t happen to me in any other app that has me scrolling, which is most of them. When receiving a phone call, the MPR audio does not pause, instead it continues playing over the phone call audio. Quickly moving forward to a future dead internet. We are sustaining members and wonder what the heck their web design staff was thinking or NOT?? Now I have to navigate my journey by pushing four selections to hear the news. Then I can’t escape once there! The audio continues even after I attempt to jump to a different app. To shut up MPR, I have to delete the app. Want to hear more news later? I have not had problems with it in a long time, and none with the current version. I cannot understand those that say they are having problems. This app gives immediate and clear access to Minnesota's best newsroom and its comprehensive coverage of Minnesota issues. I can and do stay in touch with my home state's news no matter where in the world I'm traveling. Although the Public Radio app is good, this app is even better. ### 4/5 — Great app... BUT... *2021-02-28* Great app, does what it is supposed to, BUT the touch sensitivity required to open a story is WAAAAAY too low; just trying to “scroll” will inadvertently cause stories to open.
