## What is Mr Prompter?

Mr Prompter is a teleprompter built for iPhone: the text scrolls at the pace of your voice while the front camera films you. Keep your eyes near the lens and speak naturally, the prompter follows.

TWO MODES
• Selfie: the front camera films you while the text scrolls over the preview.
• Pro: the text alone, full screen on black. Nothing is filmed and nothing is recorded: read in front of your own camera, a teleprompter rig, or an audience. Text up to size 80, its own presets, and a mirror option for beam-splitter glass.

THE ESSENTIALS
• Voice-following scroll: the text moves at exactly your pace, no remote, no timer.
• Manual speed: a constant pace you set, adjustable with a swipe while you read.
• Voice start: say "GO" to begin, hands-free.
• Calibration: read a short passage and the app measures your natural pace.

YOUR TEXT
• Import from Files: PDF, Word, RTF or plain text, several at once.
• Chapters: mark your script with ## and jump from one part to the next.
• Movable, resizable text window placed near the lens.
• Adjustable font, size, line spacing, and background, from transparent to opaque.

IMAGE AND SOUND
• Up to 4K, HDR or ProRes, at 24, 25, 30, 50 or 60 fps, depending on your iPhone.
• Cinematic mode with adjustable background blur, on supported iPhones.
• Manual white balance and brightness, to stop the image drifting mid-take.
• Stereo sound with the built-in mic, or mono for an external one.
• Test your microphone before recording: level meter, and a check of whether it is really stereo.
• Timer, time remaining, and audio waveform while you record.

MADE TO FIT
• Presets to recall your favorite settings in one tap, kept apart for each mode.
• Mirror effect and video stabilization.
• Haptic feedback at every key moment.

PRIVACY FIRST
No sign-up, no account, no data collection. Everything runs on your device, and your videos stay in your photo library.

Perfect for creators, trainers, journalists, speakers, and anyone who wants to talk to camera without losing their place, or their eye contact.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-09-04

• Voice tracking has been rebuilt. The text no longer runs ahead when the recognition corrects itself mid-read, and it follows you far more closely. Measured on seven real recordings: the time spent reading while the text waited further down fell from a quarter to a twentieth.
• Numbers written as digits are now matched to the way you say them: "2 640" follows "two thousand six hundred and forty". Same for percentages, units and times.
• Arriving from an older version? Pro mode is here: the text alone, full screen on black, nothing filmed and nothing recorded, to read in front of your own camera, a teleprompter rig or an audience. With a mirror option for beam-splitter glass, and manual white balance and brightness.

### 1.7 — 2026-09-03

• New: Pro mode. The text alone, full screen on black, nothing filmed and nothing recorded. Read in front of your own camera, a teleprompter rig, or an audience. Text up to size 80, its own presets, and a mirror option for beam-splitter glass.
• New: manual white balance and brightness. Lock what the auto was doing, so the image stops drifting mid-take.
• New: voice tracking can be caught up by hand. If the recognition skips a passage, drag to put the text back where you are; it starts following again on its own as soon as it finds you.
• Chapters: the ## rail is rebuilt, with the current chapter and its neighbours, tap one or swipe the stack. Two anchoring bugs fixed: a chapter near the end of a short text now lands at the top, and switching modes no longer sends the jump to the wrong place.
• The screen no longer goes to sleep while you read.
• A tap on the screen hides and shows the controls you don't always need.
• Each mode now keeps its own reading position, its own settings and its own presets.
Still free, no watermark, no subscription.

### 1.6 — 2026-08-30

• New: stereo sound. Recordings were mono until now; with the built-in mic they are stereo, at the same quality as the Camera app. Settings > Audio, with a Mono option for external mics.
• New: test your microphone before recording. Settings > Audio > Test the microphone shows a level meter, names the mic that is connected, and tells you whether it is really stereo or just a mono capsule copied twice.
• New: the text background is adjustable, from fully transparent to fully opaque.
• Fixed: Cinematic mode was unavailable on iPhone 17. It now works, thanks to a tester who kept reporting it.
• Fixed: the app could close when starting a take if Record was pressed in the first seconds, before the camera was ready.
• Improved: recordings now have a readable filename, dated and stating the quality. Presets remember the sound setting and warn about duplicates. Haptic feedback covers the whole app.
Still free, no watermark, no subscription.

### 1.5 — 2026-08-27

• New: 24, 25 and 50 frames per second, alongside 30 and 60. At 24 fps with cinematic blur, your takes get the look of film.
• Fixed: the screen dimmed and locked while recording. Reading to camera means not touching the screen, and iOS took that for inactivity. It stays on now.
• Fixed: with no countdown, the text scrolled before recording had actually started — the first words were lost.
• Fixed: the app could quit on its own. It no longer does.
• Fixed: on some iPhones, the resolution or frame rate actually recorded could differ from the one chosen in Settings, with nothing to indicate it.
Still free, no watermark, no subscription.

### 1.4 — 2026-08-17

• Fixed: with voice start (“Say GO”) enabled, the text stopped following your voice once recording began. Voice tracking now works on every take.
• Fixed: “Say GO” often had to be repeated — the app was not listening yet when the panel appeared. It now asks for GO only once it can actually hear you.
• No more black flicker when a take starts or when you cancel one — and cancelling now says so.
• Fixed: recording several videos in a row, vibration feedback could come back during a recording, or go silent afterwards.
• The on-device speech setting now says what it really does: iOS already processes speech on recent iPhones, and forcing it is a privacy guarantee rather than a quality change.
Still free, no watermark, no subscription.
