## What is mr.enzo?

mr.enzo is a private messenger with end-to-end encryption, Push to Talk and an offline network between nearby phones.
Push to Talk: hold a button and your contact hears you at once.
Offline network: with no internet, nearby iPhones exchange messages directly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• End-to-end encryption for one-to-one chats, groups, channels, photos, videos, voice messages, files and calls — only the people in the conversation can read or hear them
• Post-quantum protection: the keys of new sessions are agreed with a hybrid of X25519 and ML-KEM-768
• App Lock with a passcode and Face ID, and Hidden Chats
• Compare safety numbers with your contacts, also by QR code; mark a contact Verified in Person when you meet
• Notifications can show who wrote and what, with the sender’s photo, decrypted on your iPhone — or stay generic and hide the sender’s name
• Optional cloud password and two-step verification
• Sign in with your email — no phone number needed. You can add a number to your profile if you wish and choose who sees it: your contacts or nobody
• No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics

PUSH TO TALK
• Hold the button and speak — your voice plays aloud on your contact’s iPhone at once, usually even when it is locked
• Both of you need Push to Talk turned on, and only your contacts can reach you this way
• While it is on, iOS shows an indicator at the top of the screen; you can turn it off right from the Push to Talk sheet

WORKS WITHOUT THE INTERNET
• When there is no connection, nearby iPhones with mr.enzo exchange encrypted text messages from one-to-one chats directly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
• A message waits in a queue and goes out when your contact is nearby or the internet is back
• Meet a friend offline? Pair your phones with a QR code

CALLS
• Encrypted voice and video calls with the familiar iPhone call screen
• Group calls in rooms that survive a dropped connection

CHATS, GROUPS AND CHANNELS
• Photos, videos, voice messages and files up to 100 MB — preview, caption, edit and choose the quality before sending
• Reactions with any emoji; double-tap a message to react with a heart
• Replies, editing, forwarding and search
• Touch and hold the send button to send without sound, or to send later at a time you choose
• Stickers: cut one out of your own photo and collect your own sets
• Translate a message or turn a voice message into text — on your device
• Disappearing messages with a timer
• Groups and broadcast channels with auto-delete
• Stories that disappear after 24 hours
• Link previews — you can turn them off
• An optional birthday in your profile; your contacts get a reminder the day before and on the day

A SAFE COMMUNITY
• Report messages, people, groups, channels, stories and sticker sets, and block anyone. Every report is reviewed within 24 hours.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.2 — 2026-10-22

- Replying from a notification is simpler: press and hold the notification and the keyboard opens at once. Your reply marks the message as read.
- If a notification could not show a photo or mark a message delivered, the app tells the server once a day — just a short word and a count, no messages or chats — so such failures are easier to fix.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-21

- Fixed: on iOS 27 the app closed when you tapped a notification.
- Reply, mark as read or call back right from a notification — after Face ID or your passcode.
- Stories are end-to-end encrypted: the server keeps only ciphertext.
- If encryption between two phones gets out of step, the conversation repairs itself and no message is lost silently.
- «Verified» is set only after all 30 digits of the safety number match.
- Double-tap a photo or video to open the reactions bar; a reaction now shows who added it.
- Links open as a large card with a picture — in Saved Messages, in forwards and in groups too. Linked videos play right in the app. You can remove the card before sending.
- A photo message's notification shows the photo.
- A missed call is shown in red in the Phone app's Recents, and a missed walkie-talkie call leaves a line in the chat.
- With «Hide name» on, an incoming call shows as «mr.enzo» on the iPhone call screen.
- Groups: posts that arrived while you were offline are marked unread; a post on a weak connection no longer says «Couldn't send» and is never sent twice.
- The offline network screen tells you when Low Power Mode or an unresponsive Bluetooth is in the way.
- Turning Sound off in the app now also silences notifications while the app is closed; notifications of chats you have read are cleared.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-10-20

Push to Talk rings like a call. Tap "Ring": the other person hears a ring and gets "Answer", which turns Push to Talk on for them.
Honest Push to Talk: "Sending" → "Sent" → "Delivered". "Delivered" only once your voice has played on the other phone.
People Nearby without internet: open "People Nearby" and connect with someone next to you, even a stranger, without a QR code. You can also message and Push-to-Talk your contacts without internet, even if you have never written to each other: the app stores their keys in advance while online. The QR code stays as a fallback.
A message sent with no connection keeps going out over Bluetooth even after a day.
Push to Talk turns itself off after the silence you choose — or never.
The second tick appears when a message is shown on the other person's phone, even if the app is not open.
The "Offline Network" screen explains why nobody shows up nearby.
Fixes and improvements.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-10-17

Calls
• Without a connection to the server, a call no longer waits in vain: “No connection to the server” usually appears within 5 seconds (up to 15 for the first call right after the app starts) and at once in airplane mode. From that alert you can call again, send a message or, if the other person is nearby, open Push to Talk.
• If the microphone is off in Settings, the call does not start, the other phone does not ring, and the alert offers to open Settings. If you answer a call with the microphone off, the call screen tells you that nobody can hear you.
• Calling someone who hasn’t opened the new version of mr.enzo yet now says plainly that you can’t call them yet, instead of showing a key error. The key verification screen explains it the same way.
• The “No answer” alert closes by itself after half a minute or when you leave the app, and no longer greets you hours later.
• A phone being called stops ringing by itself after a minute and leaves a missed call, even if the cancellation never reached it.
• When one account is signed in on two phones, answering on one no longer cuts the call a few seconds later.
• Rare drops fixed: an incoming call with the app open is no longer ended after 5 seconds; a call placed the moment the connection comes back no longer drops at 20 seconds; if the caller briefly loses the connection and the other person answers meanwhile, the call waits for it with “Reconnecting…” instead of ending at 60 seconds.
• A light, short vibration when a call connects and when the conversation ends, while mr.enzo is open on screen.

Chats
• The delete button asks whether to “Clear History” or “Delete Chat” and names the person; the chat’s ••• menu offers the same choice. For five seconds you can tap “Undo”, and a deleted chat no longer comes back empty after a restart.
• Deleting one chat can no longer affect another. If deleting fails, the app says so.
• After a screenshot, the keyboard and the cursor come back.
• A message that reached you later than it was sent (for example, while your phone was offline) now shows when it was sent, with the date if that was another day. The same time appears in the chat list, search and the photo viewer.

Online status
• Others now see you “online” only while mr.enzo is open on your screen. Push to Talk or a group call invitation that wakes your phone no longer shows you online, and “last seen” with the exact time appears as soon as you leave the app.
• A contact’s profile shows the same line as the chat header (“online” or “last seen …”) and keeps it up to date. There is no such line for a blocked person or while you are offline.

Sign-in
• If the sign-in on this iPhone has ended, the app plainly says “Please sign in again” instead of showing key or connection errors. Your chats stay on the phone and come back when you sign in to the same account.
• Unsent photos, videos and voice messages wait until you sign in again, then go out with “Retry”.

Connection and look
• While the app is open, a lost connection is noticed in 6–8 seconds instead of 20–25, and the app tries to reconnect right away.
• On iOS 26, the tab bar no longer shrinks while scrolling, and the end of a list always stays visible above it.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-10-15

Calls
• Calling someone again no longer drops by itself after a couple of seconds when you had hung up an earlier call while their phone was offline.

Share
• Links from YouTube and other apps are now saved and sent. A link without «https://» is no longer lost, and text in other encodings is read correctly.

Connection
• While the app is open, it reconnects by itself every few seconds instead of waiting up to half a minute.
• After a launch without internet, the app connects by itself as soon as the network is back.
• The chat and chat list headers now honestly say «No connection to the server». «Messages go over the offline network» appears only when that is true.

Other
• A Licenses screen with third-party libraries is now in Settings.
