It was always such a hassle in many countries to get some basic directions that I’m retired. I am still traveling too many countries, but now have time to enjoy them. This device made such a difference. I wish I could’ve had it 10 years ago. i’m much more comfortable now and can enjoy a lot of things in different countries before were challenge. The volume in the app’s responses needs to be higher. Even with the volume turned up all of the way on my phone, the translating voice is very low. It needs an update. ### 4/5 — Just getting started but great start *2023-10-08* I’ve tried English to/from French and Turkish. You press English, hold while speaking, release, and after a few seconds you see/hear French! Your French friend presses French, holds and speaks, releases, and seconds later we see/hear English! Now I need to know how/if it works without WiFi. Not sure about international digital phone connection will perform. My Spanish is very limited. I like that I can say what I’m reading into the translator and writes that down. It would be sooo much better and effective for me if I could save those in the app. Under different categories or forums. Until then, I’m still learning. Also seems like you must be near the connected smartphone- so is it the phone mic or mic on device that works? ### 4/5 — Nice for a trip *2022-08-22, version 1.6.0* Planning to use this with my upcoming trip to France and Germany. I speak Thai pretty well, so I tested it out. I’d say it was about 80% accurate or close enough. My French is poor, so I’m sure it will be ok with what I know. The only problem was remembering the steps to begin translating if you have a long pause between using the translator. I wish there was more clarity in some steps, like where is the “ red button—on the iPhone? Back of the Translator? I’ve printed a teeny copt of the translator diagram but there’s no red dot and the image was minuscule and very hard to read. After I set it up it goes back to a previous page, or not be loud enough. When it work, it’s amazing. ### 2/5 — Added layer of complexity *2021-08-22, version 1.6.0* I purchased the translation device and unfortunately I didn’t see any indication that an app was needed to run in conjunction with the hardware. There are any number of good translation apps that function similarly without the need for additional hardware. So now instead of just using my cell phone for translation I have to have an additional piece of hardware and the app on the cell phone has to be running for the hardware to function. it just seems overly complex and unnecessary. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Worked for a week and app would not open after that. Reinstalled still same terrible outcome. Wasted my 90 odd dollars. The translator did not easily recognize my voice even though I am a 75 year old English speaker. ### 1/5 — App: Not working: *2020-01-16, version 1.0.19* The enence app crashes on my iOS iPhone 11 Pro Max. Have the bugs been fixed for iOS users? App won’t open when I hit start. Want to know why app on the iOS will not work. Can’t use the translator cause app will not open on my iOS iPhone 11 Pro Max. ### 1/5 — So bad that it’s entertaining *2020-01-14, version 1.0.19* If you’re reading this, I hope that you haven’t already purchased the scam of a device that pairs with this app. Picture a less accessible google translate that requires constant internet and connection to your $90 Bluetooth microphone. If this app simply used your phones mic it would be the same. It can’t even get day one Chinese Mandarin correct. Google translate is superior in voice recognition and you can download languages so you can use it offline. Please don’t purchase their translator device as it’s just a scam. Ships from china in 4-5 weeks and to return you must send to Lithuania for 15-20 dollars. The device doesn’t even speak, all voice “translations” (if you can call them that) come from my phone’s speaker! Most of the time the translations come out total nonsense. When they’re even a little bit close, it’s always a hilariously bad quarter translation that turns “I’d like to buy a new cell phone” into “I buy new sex handbag” 😂😂😂 A total joke. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — COMPLETE SCAM (Do not waste your money) *2024-03-22* This translator is a complete scam. The only way it works is if is connected to your phone and it doesn’t even translate through the item you hold in order to translate it translate through your phone I tested this and I put the translator in another room and spoke into my phone and it translated. But when I put my phone into a different room and spoken to the translator it didn’t work. It disconnects often. I understand connecting to select the language and pairing the device. But it should not require my phone to be connected when using the translator device! The device should work on its own! ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2023-03-12* The device does not pick up the correct English words. Therefore it cannot translate it into any other language correctly. I am an English as a second language teacher. I was hoping to use this app and device after our Translator app updated and was no longer useful to us. I bought 5 devices and they are HORRIBLE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. ### 1/5 — Truth: no reason to buy. *2022-05-01, version 1.6.0* Reading some reviews and I see the truth in it’s a scam. If you have to use an app, you can buy another company’s app with no reason to purchase anything else. If the little box isn’t connected the app is worthless. You can get other translation apps that don’t require another device that has to be charged, connected to Wi-Fi, and connected to Bluetooth. I guess that’s why the app is free and is just one more thing to carry around and keep charged. If you wanted to give directions to a driver, you would get lost. If you wanted to have one conversation, it would be faster to learn the language. This thing could not be any worse, it literally does nothing. It’s a piece of crap. ### 1/5 — Worthless HW. BAD APP. *2020-03-24, version 1.5.3* As other reviewer I had high hopes for this product. Don’t waste your money and your time. GOOGLE Translate works an order of magnitude better. Maybe someone will eventually provide a product with real time translation but this is not it. Don’t waste your money. ### 1/5 — Downloaded the app today and it won’t open *2020-02-25, version 1.0.19* My phone is updated to the latest iOS and the app keeps crashing. This app constantly crashes on opening. ### 1/5 — Another Scam *2020-02-20, version 1.0.19* I both 3 Muama units due to its very promising product value. Unfortunately, I found its another scam. Muama, is not a stand alone gadget. It requires smart phone to operate, thus you can just use your google voice. Muama dont work with updated IOS 13 version. Up to now I cant use the unit I bought, waiting for the said bug fix as they claim. Honestly, i will be more than happy to have my money back. Very Disappointing! ### 1/5 — App doesn’t open *2020-01-31, version 1.0.19* I bought the translator and downloaded the app only to find it wouldn’t open. I tried their suggestion to turn off the setting for guided access as explained on their webpage for problems and downloaded the app again but the app still wouldn’t open. I tried contacting them from their website. After typing in all my information it wouldn’t allow me to submit. If this isn’t a scam then I don’t know what is. I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro Max with the most current iOS 3.3.1 ### 1/5 — Worthless. *2020-01-18, version 1.0.19* Firstly. Product delivered over 39 days after ordered. Effectively says you can’t return. More so. Must have wi if connection to attempt to use. Response time is extremely slow. Any use in real life is impossible. Total scam. Do not buy. Waste of money Support is non existent. Any review that recommends this product is written by the people behind the scam. Apple should remove the app from the Apple store. I got it to speak with my next door neighbor who only speaks Japanese so know I can easily speak with her. I speak it a little so I was going back and forth having a conversation with myself. When I first set it up I could barely hear it and was pressing the up volume on the translator and it didn’t work. Only after I bought and it was finally delivered that I realized that it only translate my voice to written text which I have numerous other apps that do that. It only translates voice to written speech. They only tell you on the app in one small notice that if you see an X by your language it only does written. It also works very poorly completely miss translating. Some of the translations were laughably bad, and the audio output from my iPhone was nearly inaudible. I just downloaded the newest software and what a night and day difference! Translations, at least in Spanish, are MUCH better, and the output is nice and loud. Very helpful for my job working with a large number of Spanish-only speaking clients.
