## What is MUDBasher?

"A Classic Returns, Reimagined"

The story of MUDBasher is the story of MUDRammer—a beloved app created with love in 2012, named after a friend's ridiculous character name, that brought joy to text gamers for years. When it could no longer keep up with modern iOS, rather than let it fade away, it was completely rebuilt from the ground up. Same heart, new soul. Faster, prettier, more features, and ready for the next decade of adventures.

## Key features

- Classic text-based gameplay
- Rebuilt for modern iOS

### 3/5 — Needs more work but happy to see it exists

*2026-06-13*

The character bar (the one that you can select to give easy access to frequently used characters) causes my app to freeze as soon as I try to use it. It would also be nice if the screen scrolled automatically to the bottom on login or that this could at least be an option.

### 5/5 — Perhaps some improvements.

*2026-04-15, version 3.0.1*

Really the only thing it's missing is the ability to click links. Like email addresses or webpages, YouTube links so if you want to sign up for a mud you can touch to open it, or if someone whispers you a guide on the internet, etc.. Also auto-scroll on new text seems to be broken. It's often hidden under the text input bar so you have to manually scroll down, and sometimes that doesnt help either so you have to wait for a few more lines to hit the buffer so you can read it. Really awesome and on the right track tho.

### 2/5 — Connections

*2026-03-11*

Can't make multiple connections to the same world, in the old one you could. Still crashes when put to background

**Developer response:** Thanks for checking out MUDBasher!
This should be fixed with the latest version

### 4/5 — nearly flawless execution.

*2026-03-02*

i'll be honest, there are a few important bugs... then again the app is still young. voiceover isn't reading the screen automatically anymore, plus the world order when you add a world is screwed up, and to delete a world you have to delete it twice... but other than that, the layout is there. just try to get the bugs ironed out quickly (mostly when it comes to accessibility and the interface.

### 4/5 — Great improvement

*2026-02-28, version 3.0*

Better scripting etc. and a marked improvement from MUDrammer. Only issue is that word wrap cuts up words so it's a little awkward for wordier MUDs.

### 3/5 — Only game in town

*2026-02-27*

Unfortunately, seems to be riddled with bugs.

Aliases, for example, seem to just straight up not work at all.

Editing the radial control requires an app restart to take effect.

### 5/5 — It seems great so far

*2026-02-24, version 3.0*

Took a bit to find word wrap though

### 1/5 — Aliases do not work

*2026-02-21*

Update:

It is now working on a standard phone. The text looks to be optimized for mobile now.

Work wrap also works now

However, Aliases are broken.

Aliases do not work….at all….if someone can help me fix this it would be a 5 star review. Everything else is fine. There are even variables ($) with triggers!

Did the last update bork the Aliases function?

### 3/5 — Better layout, but still needs work

*2026-02-17*

From the voiceover perspective, MUDBasher has a much better layout than MUDRammer. Everything is more readable and I have had a much better time navigating. It does still need some improvements, in addition to the Wong bug I noticed from the little I've yet used it with the sound pop-up in triggers not working. Besides that, my main concern is the glitch which is carried over from MUDRammer with voiceover occasionally jumping around in the output when it is scrolling. This does not happen all the time, but often enough to be annoying. This app definitely has great potential and I hope it continues to improve.
Issues with the interface that I've noticed (purely from a voiceover perspective):
• When adding/editing triggers, there is a bug with the matching menu. I only tried two of the options, both of which gave different yet faulty results. If I tried to change the matching to regular expression, upon saving and going back in I found that it reset back to the default option. If I chose the option for matching at the beginning of the line, it would save correctly, but I tested the trigger on a line that contained but didn't start with the pattern I'd used and it still matched.
• in settings, there is an item called "Text to speech using VoiceOver" which does not appear to be toggle or give any indication of doing anything.
• the last issue I've noticed which also carried over from MUDRammer is the output when there is no scroll bar visible. As a voiceover user, I use the scroll bar to quickly navigate to the end of the output, which is not possible when it does not exist. If there is any way to add a widget that will mark the end of output for voiceover users, that would be extremely useful for me.

### 4/5 — Sound bug and triggers

*2026-02-04*

I like the app but I have discovered a sound bug in the trigger settings. When I click the pop-up button that says select sound, it doesn’t bring up a window with all the sounds and so the only sound you get is the sound that used to be used for announcements on some games.
