## What is Muikku?

Muikku shows the official Finnish nautical chart from Traficom together with your own position. It is made for anglers who want to see depth contours and shallows at a glance from the boat.

The app is in Finnish. No account, no ads.

NAUTICAL CHARTS FROM THE COAST TO THE LAKES

Charts come from Traficom's open nautical chart service and cover both the coast and the inland waterways: soundings, depth contours, rocks, fairways and navigation marks. The Archipelago Sea, the Gulf of Finland, Saimaa, Päijänne and Kallavesi are all on the same map, with an OpenStreetMap base map underneath.

POSITION, SPEED AND HEADING

Your GPS position updates continuously and the location button brings the map back to the boat. The info panel shows speed in knots, heading, GPS accuracy, zoom level and today's sunrise and sunset at your location.

COORDINATES IN TWO FORMATS

Coordinates are shown in WGS84 and in the Finnish national grid ETRS-TM35FIN (EUREF-FIN), both for your GPS position and for the crosshair in the middle of the map. Move the crosshair over a fishing spot or a rock to read its coordinates.

Hide the info panel with one tap to give the whole screen to the map. Works on iPhone and iPad in portrait and landscape.

YOUR LOCATION STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

Muikku does not collect user data or send your location anywhere. Map tiles are loaded from the network, so the app needs a connection.

NOT FOR NAVIGATION

Muikku is a fishing aid, not a navigation device, and must not be used for navigation. The chart images do not meet the requirements of an official nautical chart and the map scale is indicative. Always use official charts and navigation equipment on the water.
