## What is Muky?

Muky makes it easy to create and manage music and audiobook playlists for your kids using your Apple Music or Spotify account - or files stored right on your device. With Guided Access, Muky ensures a focused, distraction-free audio experience, keeping them entertained and safe.

Features:

* Kid-Friendly Audio Player: Lightweight player built for kids: shuffle, AirPlay, a scrubbing progress bar, and auto-stop timers for bedtime. It remembers exactly where you left off - perfect for music and audiobooks.

* Cover List Navigation: Kids browse music through an intuitive cover view or a scrollable track list with title, artist, and duration. Albums are auto-grouped and tracks show play indicators. Switch between cover grid, track list, or both in settings.

* Multiple Profiles: Create a profile for each child with their own playlists and independent settings. Each profile has its own password, theme, auto-stop timer, player preferences, and music source - Apple Music, Spotify, or Local Files. Switch profiles instantly with a long-press on the Account tab.

* Personalized Playlists: Create playlists of songs, albums, or audiobooks. Pick a title and color, then upload your own image, choose cover art from your tracks, or let Muky pick one at random - so each is easy for kids to recognize.

* Browse Curated Content: A Browse home with hand-picked albums and audio plays for kids: featured stage, themed collections, and a searchable album grid. Preview tracks and import whole albums with one tap.

* Suggested Titles: Each playlist surfaces hand-matched songs from the artists in your tracks. Preview before adding, tap "New" for a fresh batch, and grow your library without leaving the playlist. Apple Music only.

* Local Files: No streaming subscription needed - play music and audiobooks stored on your device or in iCloud Drive. Add folders, search them, and build per-profile playlists that play locally with lock-screen controls.

* Offline Mode: Listen to favorite tracks without internet - great for travel or poor coverage.

* Music Service Integration: Use your Apple Music (recommended, fully supported) or Spotify (experimental) subscription to access and add content. Import playlists by URL or from your library, link and sync with one tap, and drag & drop tracks between playlists. Explicit content is clearly marked.

* Admin Area: Manage playlists and controls in a dedicated admin area, separate from the kid's audio player. A dedicated Audio-Player Settings page bundles all player toggles in one focused place. Start the app directly in player mode for quick access.

* Share Playlists via QR Codes: Generate a code, let others scan it, and they instantly have your playlist - great for sharing audiobooks across family devices or with friends.

* Freeze Dance Mode: Built-in musical game that randomly pauses and resumes playback. Tune play and pause timing with sliders for the perfect difficulty.

* CarPlay Support: Play kids' playlists from your car's display. Browse playlists, switch profiles, and resume where you left off.

* Privacy-First Analytics: Optional, anonymous usage data is processed on our own servers - never shared with third parties. Turn it off any time in Settings, Privacy.

* Security Features: Enable Guided Access to keep your child in the app, and secure the audio player mode with a password. Kids cannot exit without the parent-set password.

* User-Friendly Setup: Step-by-step onboarding covers app setup, creating playlists, Guided Access, and setting a password.

* Premium Subscription: Start with a 1-week free trial! Unlock offline mode, create unlimited playlists, and add unlimited songs. Choose individual or family plans for up to 6 members. Previous one-time purchasers retain permanent audio player access.

### 3/5 — It’s okay, but…

*2026-07-13*

I love it, but… The app started on freeze dance mode, so now I have to go to search to even play it all the way through and it’s annoying. But overall it’s a nice, safe, kid-friendly app.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind review and the honest feedback! What you describe sounds like the Freeze Dance game mode was turned on by accident. It is never on by default: a dancing figure icon appears in the player only if "Show Freeze Dance Button" is enabled in that playlist's settings, and tapping the icon starts the game, which randomly pauses the music so kids can freeze. Tapping the dancer icon again, or simply pressing play, pause, or skip, ends the game right away and the music plays through normally. You can also hide the button completely by editing the playlist and switching "Show Freeze Dance Button" off. If it still acts up, please write at hi@muky.app and I will sort it out with you. Thanks for helping us make Muky better!

### 5/5 — Amazing App & App Creator!!!

*2026-04-28*

I had a little trouble getting everything set up (probably more me than anything), but Oli was easy to get in touch with. He was very responsive to every email I sent, and very patient.

He went above and beyond for our family to have the best and safest music app for our kids.

His app is a blessing, and I’m going to share it with every person I know, because every parent needs this.

Thanks Oli!!!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much - this absolutely made my day!

It was a real pleasure working with you to get everything set up, and I'm so happy Muky is bringing safe and joyful music to your kids. Reviews like this truly motivate me to keep building and improving Muky - and knowing you'll share it with other families is the best compliment I could receive.

Wishing you and the whole family endless great listening sessions! And as always - anytime you or the kids run into something, just reach out.

### 5/5 — Wonderful App with Apple Music Integration

*2025-07-31*

Muky is wonderful app! It has an exceptional integration with Apple Music and a very easy to use interface. The ability to separately create or import playlists is very useful, particularly if you’re a heavy user of Apple Music. Most importantly, the app provides a safe opportunity for children to enjoy music. The developer is also very kind and high responsive.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for this thoughtful review! I'm really glad you're enjoying the Apple Music integration and playlist features.

It's especially meaningful to hear that Muky is providing a safe music experience for your family - that's exactly what I hoped to achieve.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.8.0 — 2026-08-08

* Redesigned Browse tab - Discover curated kids' content on the new Browse home: a featured stage with hand-picked highlights, themed collections to swipe through, and a full album grid with search and sorting by album title or artist

* Featured stage - Up to five hand-picked albums rotate in a cover-flow carousel at the top of Browse; without a language filter, the highlights now mix all languages

* Subscription at a glance - The subscription page now shows your plan, billing period, status, and renewal date as clear info cards. Family plans are displayed correctly, including switching between monthly and yearly

* Smoother sheets - Import, playlist, and info sheets across the app have been modernized with consistent sizing, and success screens now scroll at large accessibility text sizes instead of being clipped

* Better onboarding - The intro and tips pages have been reworked with feature cards, and switching your music source during setup no longer leads to a blank page

* Honest confirmations - "Import Complete" only appears when tracks were actually imported, and "1 track imported" is finally singular

* Fixes: the Apple Music permission prompt no longer sends you to Settings unnecessarily, and leftover Spotify sign-in data is cleaned up when you disconnect

### 4.7.0 — 2026-07-07

* Local Files - Play music and audiobooks stored on your device or in iCloud Drive, with no streaming account needed. Add folders, search them, and build playlists just like Apple Music or Spotify

* Per-profile music source - Each profile now picks its own source (Apple Music, Spotify, or Local Files), so siblings can use different services on the same device

* Faster and smoother - The player, playlist overview, and scrolling throughout the app are heavily optimized, with lower battery and memory use, especially on older devices

* Smarter artwork caching - Album covers now survive app updates instead of being downloaded again and again, saving data and loading instantly

* Apple Music is now marked as the recommended, fully supported service, and Spotify is labeled experimental across onboarding, setup, and the FAQ

* Spotify connection - Spotify now requires a fresh sign-in every 6 months; Muky warns you before the connection expires and reconnecting takes just one tap. Signing in is also more reliable and secure, and skipping tracks is faster

* Account tab now remembers where you were (Tools, Profiles, and more) when switching tabs; tap the active tab again to jump back to the top

* Fixes: playlist playback stopping on a locked phone, stray playback when leaving the player, the last track on fast-skip, an unresponsive play button after rapid skipping, a freeze when starting large audiobooks from Local Files, and smoother progress-bar performance

### 4.6.0 — 2026-06-09

* Local Files - Play music and audiobooks stored on your device or in iCloud Drive, with no streaming account needed. Add folders, search them, and build playlists just like Apple Music or Spotify

* Audio-Player Settings - A dedicated settings page groups all player options in seven sections, with new toggles to hide the playback controls or cover-list button for younger kids

* Random Cover - Optionally pick a random track artwork as the new playlist's cover image

* Browse - When creating a playlist from Browse, pick your own cover image or use the album artwork in one tap

* Privacy-first analytics - New optional analytics, fully self-hosted on our own servers, with a clear opt-out toggle in Settings

* Backup - Exports now carry a timestamp in the filename, with clearer error messages on import
