### 3/5 — Fix the sync please

*2023-01-06*

Trying to use this plugin as a simple looper. However, in AUM the sync seems to lose accuracy with each iteration of a loop (and becomes noticeable after several). This needs to be fixed. It would be nice if (as an option) in the remote mode, after changing a clip, the new clip could start from where the previous clip left off (on the relative timeline) rather than from the beginning.

### 4/5 — Very useful, except...

*2021-02-25*

Multitrack allows audio recording along a timeline within apps such as AUM and as such provides a unique service that isn’t available from anywhere outside of a DAW, hence its incredibly useful and works well, in a basic way.

There’s one glaring and somewhat inexplicable omission. Unlike virtually any other audio recording app or plugin, audio files are hidden from the iOS files app - and the only way to locate them, is to locate the correct instance of the multitrack plugin in the correct project...so if you’ve been using this for a long time with many instances and projects, locating that one file becomes tedious. And even then one has to mix down the audio in order to then export it for use elsewhere.

5 starts once this is implemented.

### 3/5 — Tracks

*2020-09-03*

Hi can I record 2 tracks at the same time 1 vocal 1 guitar

**Developer response:** No, you can only record a single track at a time. This is an AUv3 plugin and not a fully fledged DAW so there are limitations in what we can achieve.

### 3/5 — Needs Work

*2020-03-23*

I tried this on an iPad Air 1 and it plays tracks when it wants to. Even when tracks are unmuted sometimes only one track plays until I mute the silent track and unmute it, then it plays together with the other track. Very difficult when trying to edit tracks.

Second problem, sometimes when I have worked on a project for a while and I play, it does not stop even when I stop it, it just keeps playing until I import another audio or just totally close the whole app down.

Thinking it wan an iPad Air 1 problem, I now have an iPad 7 and still the exact same issue. It seems to me it is some sort of buffer / memory problem, as the essential functions and Audiobus still work perfectly.

Third problem. When I save songs sometimes it does not save the EQ, so I have to set those again every time I open the file to work on it.

These three problems occur on an iPad Air 1 and an iPad 7 running the latest update, so no issues with the iPad.

Fix these three problems and I’ll give it 5 star

On another note, App support link does not take you to a dedicated app support page but to a site which seems totally unrelated.

**Developer response:** This plugin inherits the sample rate of the hot application (it has to) so it does not have its own sample rate. As long as you start a new song inside the DAW of choice and keep loading it inside the same DAW everything will work fine. My guess is that you attempted to load the plugin inside other apps set to other sample rates. Please only create one song in one DAW and the sample rate will remain constant. This is possibly resulting in the mutes issue. Creating a new song within a DAW sets the default sample rate for the song. You can check this in Song -> Song Details. The current sample rate should be the same as the song sample rate for things to work correctly. Otherwise I issue a warning message.

### 5/5 — Read this if you have issues with sample rates

*2020-03-14*

Update: Thanks for the response, it seems Apple could provide some better system audio controls at this point.

If you’re working in AUM this is one of the best ways to manage audio recordings within the app while you work on ideas and tracks. Having a pool of files to work with in the main window instead of managing them inside the menus is great.

Original issue: I love this app, using it with something like AUM opens up many possibilities. Until I discovered it only records at 44.1K and the resulting mix downs are pretty useless since iPads seem to be locked to 48K without using an external audio interface. Any chance this can be addressed to at least allow the user to change the rate???

Side note: I did submit a bug report to apple on this as well. I’ve also read that older iPads with headphone jacks allow the sample rate to altered. It’s kind of a mess.

**Developer response:** Yes it can get confusting. The program actually inherits the sample rate of the host application, which is why there is no setting within multitrack. The first thing you should do after loading the plugin is create a new project, then check the Song->Song Details to see the sample rate. It has to be this way in order to keep everything in sync. If you run on one of the latest devices they default to 48KHz, older devices default to 44KHz. This is a limitation of the device and not the app.

### 5/5 — Game Changer!

*2020-02-25*

This App makes audio recording possible in AUM and NanoStudio 2. It is the missing link! It’s basically a mini DAW that is designed with a common sense approach that makes it so very very user friendly. Definitely one of the most useful things I’ve ever bought!

### 5/5 — Thank you!!

*2020-02-20*

I am very happy with this multi routing audio capabilities that have recently been added to AUM and many AUv3s like this one.

My only gripe with this AUv3 was that you could only record one track at the time. Although I haven’t tried the update yet, it seems we should be able to record 3 tracks in parallel now. I’m not gonna lie; 8 tracks in parallel would be amazing and even better - hopefully we can get there in the near future?!

Regardless, 3 is better than anything and will really make this AUv3 a far more used one by me at least.

Having multi-routing out to 8 tracks is pretty cool! Just please consider eventually allowing us to record such 8 tracks in parallel and this will essentially be a game changer, which it already is (but could be even more).

Thanks 4pockets, I’m really starting to dig the support and apps you come up with.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the mainly positive feedback. Must admit I've never used App Matrix so possibly there is an issue working under this host. I'm pretty sure it works fine under NS2 and AUM but there are so many its hard to purchase and test them all. I will definitely look at your suggestions and see what I can do.

### 3/5 — Needs finishing

*2020-02-10*

Great potential, but has a few bugs and awkward UI that stop it from being a five star app.

Hope this gets the love it deserves, and the developers sort it out.

Update- contacted developer but still buggy. Updated rating to reflect this.

**Developer response:** Thanks, I'm constantly working on all the apps and this one is no exception. If there is something specific you feel needs addressing please let me know by means of a tech support email or send suggestions via my Facebook page 4PocketsAudio.

### 4/5 — Please Please Its almost the GOAT!

*2020-01-21*

The idea behind this app is the greatest thing! Only problem is the transport buttons ( play, record, stop, rewind,) cannot be mapped to a controller... why is this? Every other function in the app is mappable. This is a loopers dream if only we could control the transports! Please please add this I’ve never wanted anything more in my life. Will give a five star review if this is added. Pinky swear!

### 4/5 — Almost there

*2020-01-15*

Pretty clunky on the phone ... can be frustrating .. but still gets me there ...

Biggest issue is pops and clicks when cutting a loop. Needs a method of ensuring zero crossing or micro xfades. Very annoying Still the only option for Nano Studio beside importing samples into the on-board instruments included in Nano.

**Developer response:** Cutting clips is none destructive and allows you to completely revert to the original sound. You can add your own fades using the upper left and right handles but I guess it would be more intuitive to add micro fades this way by default. I personally thought that was a call better made by the user but I will consider adding this.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t sync with AUM and or Xequencer correctly.

*2025-07-29*

This would have been great to be able to utilize the AUM mixers. You guys specifically stated that it was made for AUM. It’s doesn’t link the loop points with other apps through midi clock or Ableton link. If you press start in any app connected its starts if you press stop it stops but doesn’t loop. You a have to have that ability to work. Can you imagine having to listen to the whole song all the way through just to edit on point over and over or setting the loop points separately between apps every time you want to edit or mix a few bars and still not having them be in sync other than the bpm. You haven’t shown an update in 3 years. I would like a refund.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2021-04-14*

Would like a refund it is unusable

### 1/5 — Sync is broken

*2020-01-29*

I have to be harsh with a one star review because this app is unusable when syncing. The recording starts a bit early throwing off the loop. The main reason I bought it was to record loops from my live setup. Imagine my surprise when the timing of all my recordings were off. When this issue is fixed, I’ll change my review.

Reply: Thanks for your response. I have it setup exactly as you said using AUM as the host. The sync is working. It’s the punch in that happens during the sync that is recording a little early and throwing off the loop. You can reproduce it easily. Setup sync in AUM just as you described, load any transient sample into AUM track (e.g. kick drum) and set it to loop in AUM. Cue up a track in your app, set the punch in on bar 2 and punch out on bar 3. Press play in AUM. Now export the clip that was recorded in your app to AudioShare and zoom in on the start of the clip. You’ll see that the kick starts late. This is unacceptable.

Reply 2: Yes, I do expect an app that claims to have a host sync to actually sync to my host. I tried to sync it to my hardware sequencer and it had the same timing issue. Please add a delay compensation option so I can adjust it accordingly. Thanks.

**Developer response:** Reply: You say load a kick drum using an AUM track? Surely your not expecting something played back in AUM which would likely have buffering to sync with MT? Maybe I've missunderstood so please clarify.

Can you give me some kind of feedback as to which host you are using and how you are expecting it to sync? You MUST have the Host Sync enabled and use the parent apps transport system. You also need to ensure the sample rate of the song is the same as the sample rate of the host. You can ensure this is the case by creating a new song within the host app before you start recording. If host sync is not enabled then transport is not synced to the tempo of the host, but rather the local tempo.

### 2/5 — Multitrack REC?

*2026-02-01*

the name of the plugin dont fulfill the functionality. the plugin can playout 8 tracks but dont record 8 tracks. yes, there are multibus but the recording is only on the first one. no separate monitoring and no separate recording for 8 busses is possible.

### 2/5 — Ok but not great

*2020-08-26*

Clunky UI. The #1 priority with an app like this should have been rendering performance (which is clunky) and waveform display options (summed stereo and halved height would have been very nice) but this is bare minimum.

Should also have just used direct Files access and storage. We are big kids who can manage and backup our files now, or rather would like to. This is the worst part of the app.

### 2/5 — Unwieldy

*2020-04-14*

Tough to do simple tasks with; easy to lose tracks unintentionally; frustrating overall, just get a proper DAW instead.

**Developer response:** I understand the frustration, but this is an AUv3 plugin intended for use in DAW's that don't support audio, in particular AUM. It wasn't designed as a DAW replacement as there are too many restrictions on what a plugin can do and interact with its surroundings. It does however prove a very useful tool for those who have no choice and want to work in these packages.

### 2/5 — I had high hopes

*2020-02-26*

But it’s still not functional after the latest update. Definitely the developer should focus on fixing the persistent bugs that plague this potentially great app. It’s a bit discouraging though, seeing developers pump out new apps without addressing this apps issues.

**Developer response:** Please can you get in touch and let me know the issues you are having. I'm happy to take a look at anything that might not be working as it should. You can contact me via email or via the 4Pockets Facebook page. The last update I posted for MultiTrack was less than a month ago, so I am issueing lots of updates, but I can't fix issues I am not aware of.

### 3/5 — love your work! truly

*2024-02-06*

but I’ll admit, I’m frustrated that only being able to arm one track at a time renders this app and all it amazing features useless to me. I would like to record 4 audio tracks, and 3 midi tracks at one time on separate tracks, Hoping in the future that multiple track arming will be a possibility? thanks

### 3/5 — Decent app Lacking full parameter control

*2023-11-22*

I wanted to use this app with an external midi controller to have a iPad multitrack experience, but found that some basic parameters are not supported (track record arm, solo). Full list below might help you make the decision if it’s important to you. I hope the developer could add this in but the last update was over a year ago so… let’s see.
Missing controls:

MIXER:
*Solo tracks
*Track EQ
*Bus Output

TRANSPORT:
*Rewind
*Track record arm (please please please)
*Loop mode
*Copy
*Paste
*Duplicate
*Punch in
*Punch out
*Snap

Now to be fair you can controls these elements in the app with the touchscreen, but just not with external controllers.

### 3/5 — Please keep improving it

*2023-07-01*

Big issues when changing the AUM buffer size with Multitrack Rec used in a session. I lost a project because of a bug from this app. Almost very good but need to be fixed.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great in Aum

*2024-06-18*

Perfect companion for multitrack audio recording in Aum

### 5/5 — Audio track extension for any daw

*2022-05-24*

Nice and handy app, especially if I need a timeline based audio track element in my non linear groovebox (Drambo)

### 5/5 — Essential if you need to extend existing EUM recordings

*2022-03-01*

This is the plug-in that places AUM one decisive step closer to becoming a fully fledged modular DAW, and not just a mixing and routing environment. Another stroke of genius from the developer.
Are use this tool to punch in phrases, soundscapes and other musical ornaments after the main mix has been recorded live.

### 5/5 — Great app. 1 request

*2022-01-13*

Love the app. Just get it. My 1 request is please make an AUM add on app that controls and triggers the loops. The remote looping is fantastic and I love it in helium as well but trying to remember which keys do what is such a hassle. I would gladly pay for a stand alone add one trigger panel that I can use inside iOS but also map the trigger pads if I want to external gear. You do such nice graphics with your easy and effects that this is Perfect for you to make a simple, clear, labeled, beautiful trigger app to trigger the loops
You’ve really stumbled on a cool creative flow with these loops and remote control.. this could be a creative game changer like Ableton and Maschine were. So much potential for fast fun creative music production.
 Please consider it. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2021-07-25*

This recorder does wonders for AUM production. Using this in conjunction with WavePad to process stems for import into MPC.

### 5/5 — Fantastic but recent problems in AUM

*2021-05-08*

Fantastic brilliant - but it won’t record in AUM as a notice pops up to say it only records at 48khz? If I try and change this in AUM I have all sorts of problems on my iPad and after many hours of tweaking I want to have all apps set to 44.1khz? Please change the settings so this is not an issue! Otherwise it is unusable which is really a shame. Thanks so much!

**Developer response:** You should create a new project in each app and not move the project between apps unless you know they are the same sample rate. An AUv3 has no control over the host sample rate so its not an option I can offer. So the sample rate in MTR is that of the host so please set in the host app. Sadly not all hosts allow you to change the sample rate which is why I advise people not to use projects between apps.

### 5/5 — Excellent Support 4-Pockets!

*2021-04-29*

Basically, I couldn’t record any longer because I wasn’t using MR as designed and because of such I had a lot of files, something you wouldn’t have treating it ‘one’ song at a timer then ‘Tidy’ing’ up. 🤓 Paul, you gave excellent support!

I can record again.

**Developer response:** Can you please contact me at paul@4pockets.com and I will attempt to help. My appologies but your emails never made it to me. I'm sure there is a good explanation for this issue.

### 5/5 — New changes are awesome

*2021-03-23*

The recent changes and upgrades to this app have made. Huge difference for those of us who love looping. Check this app out, especially if you haven’t looked recently!

### 5/5 — NanoStudio2に...

*2021-03-06*

オーディオトラックが無いNanoSutdio2に
AU instrument として追加出来るので、
たいへん重宝します。

### 5/5 — Really impressed

*2020-04-18*

This app is a superb versatile recorder and I love using it. My rate of work flow quadrupled since dropping my previous multitrack app. I have most the 4 Pockets apps I very pleased with functionality and support.
