### 5/5 — Sny Phy employee

*2024-09-11*

Lady working the wrap and sandwich station at sny phy 9/11/24 was the sweetest person we’ve ever met and made our whole day. We didn’t get her name, but she deserves a raise!

### 1/5 — ??

*2024-08-31*

It was working just fine and it says it’s re-saving and I don’t have enough storage but I do 🤷‍♀️

### 1/5 — Always Crashes

*2024-02-16*

It would consistently freeze and crash multiple times a day. I've switched to just using the MSU app.

**Developer response:** 😞 Sorry to hear that. We'll investigate as best we can, but you're always welcome to imessage us on guide@rcpd.msu.edu (Yes iMessage takes emails in the to: box)

### 4/5 — Love the App but needs an update !

*2023-08-26*

I love this app and all of the extras that it has but needs an update ! Hope it will come soon.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the positive feedback despite the apps age. Yes, we are indeed working on an update - if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see in an update, please imessage us from the app or update the comment with details!

Thanks again for your patience!

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2022-11-14, version 1.91*

Used all through college at msu 💚🤍

**Developer response:** Thanks for letting us know! Happy to hear it helped and congrats!🎉(assuming you’re close to graduation)

### 2/5 — Poor search tools

*2022-09-11, version 1.91*

1) Menus for dining halls are frequently unavailable
2) No way to search across dining halls for a desired item or ingredient. You have to do a separate search for each dining hall just to see if any are serving the ingredient you’re looking for.

**Developer response:** 1) hmm… all menu availability issues should be resolved. If you’re still unable to access them - iMessage us from within the app!

2) Yep we agree this is awful if you’re looking to avoid an ingredient. So we will be addressing this soon. But if you’re specifically looking *for* an ingredient I’m afraid what we’re working on may not fit the bill either - we really hope you message us with more details of your use case and we promise it’ll be worked on!

### 1/5 — Inaccurate

*2022-08-31, version 1.91*

For the past week the menus have been wrong as well as the hours and it has been very annoying considering the whole point of the app is to give accurate menus and hours.

**Developer response:** Sorry Gobora! We spend an inordinate amount of time trying to *not* be annoying so this one stung tbh!

This is the first we’re hearing of this so we’ll be sure to address it. If you’d like a quicker response please do message us from within the munch app. 🤗

Update: This should be fixed now and should show within a day

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2022-02-01, version 1.91*

well designed, easy to use and a great resource. whoever made this app knew exactly what they were doing!

**Developer response:** Thank you! 😊

### 3/5 — View Next Day

*2020-09-15, version 1.09*

The app design is clean and it’s more thorough than the MSU app version of the menus, but unlike that app, this one doesn’t allow you to view the next day’s menu. And if you can, then improve the design because I’ve pressed just about everything.

**Developer response:** Sorry you’re unhappy Bob! We will soon have multi day menus, with nutrition facts and a way to find foods easier very soon.
EDIT:
Well “soon”took a bit longer than we thought 🤷‍♀️. But we now have menus that show days ahead and whether menus have changed. We’re happy to make more changes if you’re still unhappy, so do let us know Bob. 😊

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2020-02-12, version 1.05*

Wow. Can’t even put into words how amazing this app is. So organized and great. Even better than any app in the world. And I can EVEN CHANGE THE COLOR OF THE ICON. Thank u

**Developer response:** Thank you so much 🙏☺️😊.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.91 — 2021-03-05

Hope you’re doing well since our last update!

This ones a doozy. We’re calling it - “Bob’s update”, after a review left by a gentleman (probably) with the handle “Bob is unhappy”. A befitting appellation, as they were clearly uh ... unhappy with our work and requested menus for multiple dates. Sorry Bob, it just took a wee bit o’ time to do things the right way. If you, dear reader, like the changes below, you have Bob (and so many others that requested them) to thank. While we’ve taken great efforts to test every aspect of this update, we’re not infallible. Be like Bob and let us know if we’re missing something you want to see. If you encounter any issues or have comments about the app, please iMessage or email us at guide@rcpd.msu.edu. If you have dietary concerns, please contact a dining hall manager within munch or reach out to dietitians@rhs.msu.edu.

- Tap a date or simply swipe left/right on a menu to advance to an adjacent date. Obviously, this works with VoiceOver & Switch Control just as quick. If you’ve favorited dishes, dates will have a little green indicator when a favorite is available. You may see menus for 3 to 10 days ahead. We use past menu data to prevent showing a menu that is likely to drastically change.
- Now, we don’t intend to leave you with thousand of dishes to sift through across multiple menus. Nope, that’s best left to munch’s creators … For you, we’re introducing the ability to search menus. You don’t need to know dish names. Craving something with pasta in it? Search for pasta and we’ll figure out which dishes have any kind of pasta in ‘em! Want to only see soups with garlic in 'em, type in “soups garlic” and just swipe, swipe, swipe through. There’s a lot more we’re working on with search, so do let us know if you have a specific way you’d like to find food!
- Note that menus are subject to change. If you browse menus often, and an item that was presented to you has been taken off the menu, we now display them in a list atop the current day’s menu. Note that, this will only show IF menu items for the current day were 86’d.
- This update ends support for iOS 12. Apologies for the inconvenience! If your only device can't update past iOS 12, do let us know and we'd be happy to re-consider this change.
- Added context menus and previews for menu items. Simply long press any dish if you don’t want to click through (useful during searches! )
- Custom VoiceOver rotors for meals and dates to instantly jump to menus.
- If you speak computer, we now use a lot of SwiftUI and so while the app may look the same to you, it is literally written in another language ,well, dialect perhaps… you get the idea.
- In some cases, if you were viewing a dish’s nutrition info, then switched to the settings tab and changed your allergens, the dish’s allergens warning would not update. This is now fixed. Thank you Mikayla!
- Fixed timetable countdown showing an incorrect hour count if you swipe up and force quit on all your apps. You do know that swiping apps like that just kills your battery faster, right? We’re not kidding.
- Fixed interface size errors on iPads.
- Fixed notification settings from settings app/notifications not working right

We’re sorry this update took a while if you requested any of the above features.

### 1.09 — 2020-03-27

Thank you to so many of you that reached out with comments, suggestions and more the past month, despite all we’re going through. It is heartening to hear how much of a difference munch makes and also what we should be working towards. Sometimes though, the last 20% of a task takes 80% of the time. This long overdue update completes the implementation of a lot of existing parts of munch including notifications, timetables, Siri & includes a ton of performance updates [details below]. If you encounter any issues or have comments about the app, please iMessage or email us at guide@rcpd.msu.edu. If you have dietary concerns, please contact a dining hall manager or reach out to dietitians@rhs.msu.edu.

CHANGES

- Notifications can now be received before each meal where your favorites will be available. These are tied to the latest schedules automatically. Long pressing/pulling down/viewing the per meal notification will show all favorites, where they’re being served and the window of time during which they’ll be served. You can turn these off or choose to receive them an interval of time before the the favorites become available.
- Due to recent events, we’ve added the ability to receive scheduling and event notifications. Unlike favorite notifications, these do not repeat and are sent directly from our phone to yours when there’s last minute scheduling changes or news that all dining guests should be aware of.
- All of the above notification types can be turned off in a new Notifications section in settings
- The Favorites section in settings now shows meal and location details for dishes that are being served on a particular day.
- If you don’t sort menu items, there is a new automatic sort that attempts to order menu items within each venue by what we think may be most relevant to you. By default, items tend to be in order of meal course, so soups, salads, breads and then entrees, but if a particular dish isn’t repeated at a hall often, it is moved to the top of a venue.
- Special schedule/hours (such as takeout/events) are now indicated as such for each hall and individual meal times
- Occupancy of halls isn’t shown during takeout schedules, because we never collected occupancy data during a pandemic *shrugs*
- We underestimated just how many of you would be interested in using Siri and Siri Shortcuts to read menus, so this update makes it clearer and easier to access more complex examples of automating menu searching and having Siri read them to ya! Look for these in the extras section in the Settings tab.
- Spartan ties is unfortunately postponed and scheduling now reflects these changes
- Apple Watch will now mirror notifications and if you use the Siri watch face, can also receive suggestions for halls you frequently browse.
- A couple new app icons based on requests and modifications to existing ones to be more identifiable.

FIXES
- You no longer need to force quit munch for schedules to update
- VoiceOver could sometimes forget to tell you if a hall’s closed. It now correctly reads out hall hours and open/close state.
- A rare crash that could occur when re-launched after a while can no longer occur
- Opening, closing and reopening a menu in the maps tab 752 times on some devices could cause a crash… not anymore.
- munch is also faster and uses memory a lot better thanks to a ton of invisible UI improvements (ha...).

Thanks again! Look forward to more on-campus food information and tools to find them soon.

### 1.05 — 2020-02-10

Another update with small updates & fixes [listed below]. If you encounter any issues or have comments about the app, please iMessage or email us at guide@rcpd.msu.edu. If you have dietary concerns, please contact a dining hall manager or reach out to dietitians@rhs.msu.edu.

CHANGES

- A Favorites shortcut (available in the Shortcuts app/) that'll let you simply ask Siri for what favorites are available. This is a customizable shortcut, so use the favorites tile in the shortcuts app to play around with the output list of favorites to access where and when they're served (just like the menu shortcuts).
- You can now change the app icon from the settings tab to one of a few alternate icons based on suggestions from you. If you would like to see an icon, reach out and suggest a theme/idea!
- Outdated favorite notifications are now indicated as such when tapped/viewed in detail
- Sort options can now be reset in each menu's sort controls, resulting in a default ordering that attempts to place non repetitive dishes on top.
- The quick menu view in Siri suggestions now works better with VoiceOver and Allergens, Favorite indicators are indicated as well.

FIXES

- A couple crashes that could occur if you used a particular device configuration are now fixed
- Favorites not syncing between devices is now fixed.
- A ton of smaller bugs have now been fixed around text scaling, VoiceOver allergen readouts and favorites notifications
