## Most critical reviews (8 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — waste of time

*2026-07-13*

you have to pay to use the app. the whole point of the app is to scan your food and you have to pay for it and it doesn’t even tell you until AFTER you waste like 20 minutes doing the introductory part of it. do not recommend.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t let you select account charges 60$

*2026-05-23*

Terrible

### 2/5 — Must pay for everything

*2026-05-19*

Does not let me take pictures of anything. I have to pay to use anything.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. The scanning features are part of the premium version because each analysis has server and AI processing costs behind it. I try to keep pricing as fair as possible while supporting the app. I appreciate you giving it a try 🙏🏽

### 2/5 — paywalled

*2026-04-21*

doing literally ANYTHING on this app is locked behind a paywall. if it wasn’t paywalled, i would probably enjoy it a lot more

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The app relies on AI and server processing for scans and ingredient analysis, which comes with ongoing costs. The premium model helps keep those features running and improving. I understand subscriptions are not for everyone and still appreciate you trying the app 🙏🏽

### 3/5 — barcode issue

*2026-05-20*

not paywalled, good app but the barcode feature doesnt really work the camera doesnt focus when u try to take a picture of the barcode. maybe an upload image feature should be added

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! You can actually already do this. Inside the same barcode scanning screen, there’s an option to take a picture of the product front and its ingredients list to get an analysis.

I’ll still look into the barcode camera focus issue though. Thank you for pointing it out ❤️

### 4/5 — Barcode

*2026-05-22*

This app if fun and helpful but the barcode doesn’t work at all

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! I’m glad you’re enjoying the app ♡ I’m sorry about the barcode issue. You can also use the same scanning view to take pictures of the product front and ingredients list to get an analysis while I look into the barcode problem.

If possible, please send your device model and a screen recording to muncheehelp080@gmail.com so I can investigate it faster ❤️

### 5/5 — IN LOVE WITH THIS APP <33

*2026-08-27*

I’ve been using Munchee whenever I’m grocery shopping and it’s honestly changed the way I look at packaged food. I can scan something in seconds and actually understand what’s in it instead of trying to decode the ingredient list myself.

The little food companions and progress tracking make it feel more like a game than another boring health app too. It’s been really helpful for making healthier choices without feeling like I have to completely change everything I eat.

### 5/5 — Favorite food scanner yet!

*2026-08-03*

I’ve tried a lot of food scanner apps, but this one is by far the most fun to use. The animal protectors make healthy eating feel like a game instead of a chore. I also like that it explains why a product gets its score instead of just giving a number. Definitely worth trying if you want to make better choices.
