### 2/5 — Not intuitive

*2026-05-24, version 1.6.8*

I purchased a 3-day pass through the app and had no idea how to actually use it. I ended up paying for transit everywhere I went

### 2/5 — Complains of clock settings

*2026-05-22, version 1.6.8*

On first ticket purchase it says my time settings are wrong. They are not. What gives.

### 1/5 — SF TOURIST BEWARE

*2026-01-12, version 1.6.5*

it is impossible to get a refund from these people. Took a trip to the city and wanted to ride the cable car. Bought four day passes ($60). While we were in line they shut down the cable car and were no longer doing rides because of a power outage. I have reached out several times in attempt to get a refund. I do not even get as much as an email response. Everybody will tell you to call 311. That is just another useless service.

### 1/5 — Stupid designer

*2025-12-24, version 1.6.5*

The bus route number was on the back, and by the time I saw it, it was already too late. Ridiculous😅

### 1/5 — Inaccurate eta

*2025-12-11, version 1.6.5*

Live tracker is really inaccurate. Use google map instead for more better eta

### 1/5 — Poor performance

*2025-10-26, version 1.6.5*

Created account, failed to login multiple times, then purchased day pass on official website, received receipt in email, but staff insisted need to see activated ticket in app, means receipt from website is useless. Kept trying to login to retrieve my ticket, failed for whole day, wasted my money and time. Still cannot login for the next day, ruined my trip.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-10-25, version 1.6.5*

Automatically saves my tickets elsewhere every time, making them unusable. Awful app

### 1/5 — User friendly

*2025-10-24, version 1.6.5*

Not very user friendly at all

### 2/5 — Never correct with times

*2025-10-22, version 1.6.5*

Every time I use this app, I find that the bus comes between 2-5 minutes before or after it is scheduled. This defeats the entire purpose of this app and is extremely annoying. If the times on the bus stops are always correct, which they usually are, why can't the app be the same? This is absurd.

### 1/5 — They are all full

*2025-10-19, version 1.6.5*

We paid for 3 full day passes but ultimately had to uber because they were all full and there are LONG waits between cars so after 3 passed us full we gave up. Save your time and money

### 1/5 — This is why I use other apps to see bus arrivals

*2025-10-09, version 1.6.5*

I used to use NextBus to see when the next bus is supposed to arrive. But since it no longer updated for the iPhone 17, I was pretty much forced to use Muni Mobile just to do this. Originally, I use it just to buy one day passes, but it looks like it’ll just stay that way and I’ll have to find another app to double check Google’s accuracy.

It’s made me use Uber, did not “see” when my bus was coming, even though I knew its times, predicted “late” bus but buses came early….

### 2/5 — Useless

*2025-10-02, version 1.6.5*

The old nextbus app was accurate and worked. This one is completely defective and doesn’t work. It’s what you expect when you live in a city run by Mayor Waymo, a Nepo baby who’s never been on a bus.

### 1/5 — Bring back the NextBus app!!!

*2025-09-15, version 1.6.5*

The MuniMobile app is so bulky. Having to scroll through pages to find the actual bus I want to find is annoying. You can’t look up any line to see what the stops are. NextBus was so straight forward. Shut down MuniMobile and bring back NextBus!!

### 1/5 — Steals money

*2025-09-09, version 1.6.5*

They will charge you for a ticket and then not let you use the ticket

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-09-04, version 1.6.5*

I’ve been having an ongoing issue with your ticketing app. After activating a ticket, it does not move to the “Active” tab. Instead, it remains in the “Available” tab, but locked with the message “Saved Elsewhere.” This has happened to me on multiple occasions, and recently an enforcement officer even pulled me off the bus and tried to issue me a citation because of it.

From what I’ve seen and heard, this seems to be a widespread problem with the app. If that’s the case, why are riders being penalized for something outside of their control? It puts paying customers in an unfair and stressful position.

This really undermines confidence in the app, and frankly, it makes for a frustrating rider experience. Update the app or stop harassing riders.

### 1/5 — Unnecessarily difficult

*2025-08-30, version 1.6.5*

Why force riders to open an account just to purchase a ticket? Muni should have a “guest” checkout option.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-08-27, version 1.6.5*

This thing is just so pathetic and useless I actually thought it was a joke at the beginning. Worthless.

### 1/5 — Buggy and complicated

*2025-08-16, version 1.6.5*

Extremely buggy, unnecessarily complicated. Cant use tickets because there is a vague message saying they’ve been saved elsewhere. Whole experience makes me avoid muni.

Old app from two years ago much better

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Awful

*2026-05-31, version 1.6.8*

What happened to the old NextBus app? This app is horrible. All I wanna know is when the next Van Ness to market Street buses coming and it won’t get me past Geary Street no matter how hard I try you can’t back to lead Gary and put in market. What is wrong with these people? Would you make such an awful app? All the other apps are so confusing maps everywhere you don’t know where you’re at it’s ridiculous. If Muni created this app they did an awful job. Hire a real programmer give us back next bus.

### 1/5 — Map not reliable

*2026-05-18, version 1.6.8*

The map shows busses that are scheduled to run, not real live data. I was standing at the bus stop 7 minutes early, watched the bus on the map pass me but nothing approached in real life. The icon was moving down the street and pausing at stops despite there not being a bus.

### 1/5 — Poor design

*2026-05-10, version 1.6.8*

Lousy app, never accepts payments constantly having to update or erase & reload, bus it is SF & Muni so figure it will suck

### 1/5 — The times are always wrong

*2026-04-04, version 1.6.8*

I’ve never had a bus show up when it says it’s supposed to. I have no idea why it’s always off. Delete.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-03-30, version 1.6.8*

Useless 👎

### 1/5 — Ugh

*2026-03-25, version 1.6.8*

Not helpful for tourists, had to drive instead since information was incomplete and didn’t sync my planned trips to work on maps

### 1/5 — Difficult to use

*2026-03-19, version 1.6.7*

It is very difficult to use for tourist. Easy for tourist to make mistakes. And cannot get a refund.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-03-03, version 1.6.7*

The time is never accurate. I have to call 311 to get the correct time . Next bus app was 5/5 the best , accurate, simple , easy to navigate quickly.

### 1/5 — Took my money, no ticket :(

*2026-02-28, version 1.6.7*

Yeah

### 1/5 — Worst: bring back NextBus!

*2026-01-29, version 1.6.7*

Ridiculously inaccurate and a UX that must have been designed by drunk people.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worked as expected

*2025-11-30, version 1.6.5*

I was hesitant to use this app after the awful reviews, especially worried about not being able to use my paid for tickets. I had no issues purchasing a couple of all day passes and used them on a variety of trains, street cars, and cable cars.

### 5/5 — Pls don’t waste the taxpayers’ money to run your zero-cost department!!

*2025-08-26, version 1.6.5*

HOMELESS FREE TO GO BY THE FARE INSPECTORS!!!
Paying Our Fares,
Keeps Homeless Got Free MUNI!
Paying Our Fares,
Keeps SFMTA useless than the dogs!
WOW!!! What a great news!!!

### 5/5 — Should have better reviews

*2025-07-19, version 1.6.5*

Not bad

### 5/5 — Worked great on iOS

*2025-06-19, version 1.6.3*

Bought single day passes for family of 4 and they worked great with no issues.

### 5/5 — Very Convenient

*2024-10-30, version 1.6.2*

Not the most intuitive app, but it works once you figure it out. And unlike the Clipper app, you don’t need to tap it each time you board.

### 5/5 — Does exactly what it should

*2024-08-03, version 1.5.9*

Funktioniert tadellos. Einfach zu bedienen. Top App für den öffentlichen Nahverkehr in San Francisco.
Blöd ist nur, dass manche Busse damit nicht benutzt werden können. Das geht dann nur mit Clipper. Aber der Tagespass ist klasse.

### 5/5 — The app works

*2024-03-03, version 1.5.8*

There’s a lot of negative reviews, but I couldn’t really see what all the fuss was about. The app shows schedules and allows you to buy a ticket. Everything worked and functioned as expected so it’s 5 stars for me

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2024-02-24, version 1.5.8*

Don’t know why the other reviews are so bad. As a tourist I was able to download the app super easily. Navigation was simple and I bought a ticket in 5 mins.

### 5/5 — Very good app

*2024-02-19, version 1.5.8*

I love the app.

### 5/5 — What's all the fuss about?

*2023-12-26*

Frankly I don't understand all the complaints and one star ratings. Or maybe those are the first day roll out reviews of growing pains. As of today I find this app as functional and useful, if not more, as the former version for purchasing, storing, and using thickets. I didn't find the trip planning feature to be useful as it offered suboptimal routes that I could do better myself. But then this is new feature compared to MM 1.0
