One of the first portfolios that shows on the home page of “A” Shariah ratings is a portfolio consisting of: Unilever Nestle Tesla Apple Absolutely not. All of these companies are complicit AND directly profiting from the Genocide in Gaza. And Apple is profiting off slave labor in Congo. This is disgusting. I had been using Musaffa for quite a while and really appreciated the platform for its simple, helpful tools. The free version used to offer limited but genuinely useful features like the halal stock screener, which was perfect for someone like me. However, things have taken a disappointing turn. The app has now moved entirely behind a paywall — even the most basic tools are no longer accessible without purchasing the premium version. Yes, you read that right: you can’t even access the stock screener anymore unless you pay. I understand the need to monetize and grow as a business, but removing all free features feels like a step backward, especially for users who relied on Musaffa as a trustworthy guide for halal investing. Their social media customer service activeness is more pathetic, first I had good experience but now very bad. I tried to get the link to join their webinar but they replied 2 days after the webinar. At least they should have marked halal stocks as per Shariah index. Example HCLTech is shariah compliant and part of Nifty Shariah 50 and app shows it as not halal stock. Musaffa uses the methodology of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) to screen stocks for Shariah compliance. Once a stock is categorized as Shariah-compliant, it is divided into five groups and ranked from 1 to 5 based on its level of compliance. In other words, a rating of 1 means the stock has the lowest degree of Shariah-compliant status, while a rating of 5 means it has the highest.
