### 2/5 — No Content

*2022-10-04, version 19.0*

Zero content other than magazines.

### 4/5 — I love but it's got some technical issues

*2016-03-05, version 6.1.4*

The app is great and easy to operate. You get everything you get in a physical copy of the magazine. Past issues are available, along with some free ones. The main problems I've encountered were the pages were not HD, no book marking, and page numbering was off from the magazines index. So if you zoomed in on workouts or want the text larger it's pixels are visible. If you exit the app while reading an issue and re-open it you start back to the beginning of the magazine. When reading an article in an issue mentioning the a page further in the magazine the pages did not match up to what is displayed in the app as in the pages. But these are easily fixed in later updates, just hope it happens.

### 2/5 — Love the magazine, but the iPad app needs work

*2015-12-26, version 6.1*

Aside from it not being on par with other magazine apps that have more interactive reading experiences, the most annoying thing about this app is it doesn't support multitasking. If I go to another app and quickly come back, it doesn't remember which issue I had open or where I left off reading. This is horribly annoying and I'm not going to read any more issues until it's fixed because it just takes too much time trying to find my spot over and over again.

### 2/5 — A Real Poor App

*2015-07-23, version 5.4*

Instead of letting you keep the magazine in your newsstand like every other publication the geniuses at muscle and fitness make you read it through an app. Meaning if you don't bookmark your page every time you're done reading and close it you have to physically swipe x amount of pages to get where you left off. As a criticism more of the publication than the app I have noticed the add to content ratio is definitely in favor of adds. If it's not a 50/50 split between advertisements and actual content then it has to be close to it. Absolutely awful. I will NOT be renewing.

### 1/5 — No active subscription

*2015-03-18, version 5.2.9*

Feb 2015 I paid for the subscription (one year) offer off $9.99, guess what i got Feb issue after that nothing, there is not option to get my March issue. You go to settings on the application, click on missing issues after 2 or 3 min can't connect to the server and appears subscription " no active " so i paid $9.99 for one issue. Be Careful they will rip you off.

### 2/5 — Fix this app!!!!

*2014-05-05, version 5.0.2*

I love this magazine, but I am really getting tired of having to delete the app and reload it just to see the latest issue. Once I open an issue, I can no longer get out of the issue without deleting the whole app. This is ridiculous! Please fix this. All I want to do is be able to read any of the magazines i've purchased at anytime without the pain of having to download everything again after reloading the app. Again, please fix this!

### 4/5 — I don't understand why others are complaining

*2014-03-18, version 5.0*

I love the app. Works perfect with my ipad and it helps me stay awake during boring classes. The only thing I would ask is that I could observe the issues in landscape mode. I would REALLY appreciate it if you did.

### 2/5 — Close magazine

*2013-12-04, version 4.3.2*

Once you open a magazine you cannot close it and go to another. It's an in-convince to remove the magazine, re-store it then download it again just to read current issue. I'd rather go to a book store and read the magazine then to have subscribed to this magazine. I feel like I was ripped off. Please update this app and make it worth it. Also video content would be a nice feature.

### 4/5 — Good....Almost Great

*2013-03-09, version 4.1*

The enhancements are amazing! The images load much faster and it is easier to browse through the edition you are reading. The only downside is there are the same amount of ads in the electronic version as there are in the one you would pick up on any newsstand. Scrolling through a 4 or 5 page advertisement when you can only view in portrait mode and only one page at a time, which is tedious. I know you can hop around but I would pay slightly more for an issue with less ads, just my personal opinion, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Again the ap itself is head and shoulders above its predecessor.

### 2/5 — SLOW

*2013-01-31, version 3.1.0*

I had really high hopes for this to make it easier than getting the paper issue. However once you download and issue pages take forever to load like you we're pulling them through a slow connection off the Internet. This app needs to be fixed to allow for seamless page turning once it is downloaded.
Muscle and Fitness can do better!

### 4/5 — Great information content

*2013-01-21, version 3.1.0*

I really like a majority of the content in the magazine. I enjoy the advertisements of the different products. I wish they could help describe the importance a of some supplements instead of advertising a lot of them. Some pages don't load which stinks. Also I would like if some of the links they advertise on the pages could be active to the Internet.

### 4/5 — Good but needs improvement

*2012-12-30, version 3.1.0*

If you like the magazine and have an iPad its a no brainier. Compared to other magazines M&F makes poor use of its digital version. The app loads slowly, downloading issues is slow and the file size is larger then expected, especially since there are no digital enhancements like videos or interactive features like many other magazines offer.

### 4/5 — Great alternative to paper

*2012-12-29, version 3.1.0*

Great environmental alternative to using paper. Text-and-Graphics are more than comparable to the printed magazine and a great space saver. ( No need for shelf full of Magazines) Future improvements I would like to see are the ability to store the magazine locally as well as being able to not rely on Wi-Fi connection. Improvements in page loading and page turning would also be very nice.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Update

*2023-06-24*

Need to update app!

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2021-09-30, version 19.0*

I have not been able to access any of the issues since March 2020.

### 1/5 — 0 content besides magazines?

*2021-09-22, version 19.0*

Trying to find an easy way to follow your beginner weightlifting routine from the website to track my progress and this app is absolutely useless. Guess I’ll just keep going to your website to find it instead and deleted this app.

### 1/5 — No issues?

*2020-12-06, version 19.0*

If I
Could give a negative star rating I would.
Last issue online was March 2020
I’ve sent ten emails- not one response!
My subscription is paid through 2024.
I’m filing a complaint online with my states Attorney’s General’s office
Maybe others with the same issue should do the same
I’ve been a loyal customer for two decades
Done

### 1/5 — Good books but nothing like the website

*2020-08-06, version 19.0*

There’s nothing but books on this but on the website I’m doing a 4 week workout of it should be the same for better and easier work nobody eats to flip back and forth on safari should just have the app updated daily ya welcome when you do it I want 10 percent lol

### 1/5 — Terrible!!

*2020-06-24, version 19.0*

I have had a monthly subscription for years, but they recently discontinued it. My problem is, I can’t access the magazines I paid for before my subscription ended and they want me to pay for them again!!

### 1/5 — Where is the October 2019 issue?

*2020-04-22, version 19.0*

This magazine app is so frustrating! We are still waiting for the digital October 2019 issue and it is 10/12 now! This is unacceptable! This is not a cheap subscription either! They give us a few issues early, all is well, then it will grind to a stop and we get no new issue. I want a refund or a print subscription for free! Get it together American Media! If you can’t handle the technology don’t offer a digital subscription, idiots!

Update: It is nearly the end of April and we still don’t have the April 2020 issue! It worked great for 5 months after an update but they are back at their old ways again. We should definitely receive a free print subscription for this kind of service! My subscription renews next month, developers and publisher! Do you think I’m gonna ever see another new issue? What are the Vegas odds on that?

### 1/5 — Terrible Technical Issues

*2020-02-15, version 19.0*

I’ve tried multiple times to renew my subscription. Contacted app developer, they were no help. When I login, it says my subscription has expired...seriously, I know that! Deleted App, redownloaded, same result. Terrible App, terrible customer service.

### 1/5 — New edition does not show up soon enough

*2020-02-03, version 19.0*

New edition does not show up soon enough

### 1/5 — Continuously crashes - unreadable magazine

*2015-09-11, version 5.6.1*

I have had this magazine for a little while now and was having little to no trouble. Recently, I have had continuous crashing and have not been able to read any of the last few issues I have missed. I am only a electronic subscriber and will drop this magazine pretty soon due to being unable to read them. I am quite disappointed in purchasing a magazine and being unable to read it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — M&F creased publication

*2020-08-22, version 19.0*

Guys: Muscle and Fitness stopped publishing a print magazine in March. You can get their stuff for free at their website. You're welcome!

### 5/5 — No new issues on app Apr-May ‘20

*2020-05-09, version 19.0*

I don’t see the new issues. Apr or May ‘20 I’m only able to sign in with email and password. Account number or address don’t work. I’ve tried to restore issues, none available. I deleted the app and signed in only through email and password, doesn’t recognize anything else. Now the recent issues Jan-Mar ‘20 I have to pay $7 or have a 2min window to see it when I had them downloaded before I restored the entire app. I email help support but they told me to do what I already did and if I couldn’t get it fix to contact M&F. But where? Anybody read this reviews? What’s going on? I’m aware I won’t get the printed issue anymore but what’s up with the app?

### 5/5 — Unbelievable

*2020-05-02, version 19.0*

April has come and gone and still no April issue!!! May is here, no May issue and I just renewed my subscription in March!!!! If I would of known I wouldn’t have renewed and just went and brought the magazine on the newsstand.

### 5/5 — Works perfect

*2019-03-25, version 7.12*

This app is a perfect way to read the Muscle & Fitness magazine digitally. I am able to read the full magazine from the app after purchasing the monthly issue, or you can purchase the whole year in the app as well.

I am able to read offline, make notes on pages, and the app saves where you were in the magazine for when you reopen the app. I have also experienced no bugs or glitches. These are all issues that seem to have been resolved from the previous comments.

I would highly recommend if you want to read the magazine from a mobile device.

### 5/5 — This is awesome!

*2014-03-19, version 5.0*

I think the 1 star reviews were for the old M&F app. This one is great! 90% of what I get the magazines for are for the workouts and recipes. Now I can have them right on my phone and pull up the routines at the gym easily! I love this app!!!

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2013-01-24, version 3.1.0*

It looks awesome on my iPad 4. It makes it so easy to just have my iPad instead of my printed issues. A lot of times during the winter my printed issues come ruined from the rain, now that I also have my iPad issues. I don't have to worry about reading and/or seeing the picture like if it was a perfect non ruined magazine.

### 5/5 — Equal to the print edition

*2012-12-27, version 3.1.0*

This is a fun way, on my iPad, to read my favorite muscle magazine wherever I happen to be. The pages stay crisp and clean, as one would expect on a computer, and rather than lugging 20 magazines in my suitcase, I can have it all on the iPad. Great app.

### 5/5 — Great Mag

*2012-12-05, version 3.1.0*

Most muscle magazines have too many advertisements, this one has its fair share, but compared to the others, it's better. Is about the same price as if you bought it on the stands, so ... So.....that's about it. Buy it.

### 5/5 — Too many ads!

*2012-11-28, version 3.1.0*

This Magazine is ridiculous with the amount of ads it has, out of 169 page magazine you are lucky if you get maybe 30 pages worth reading. It is too expensive and little amount of information, look elsewhere if you want quality info....this magazine is overpriced! Although one thing I like is the actual app, it is beautifully displayed and easy to navigate, but again it is too expensive and provides little quality information.

### 5/5 — Great if you have the print subscription!

*2012-08-15, version 2.3.10*

If you have the print subscription, this lets you have access to all of your M&F issues, including back issues! It's great that M&F gives subscribers this option.
