## What is MuscleApp?

MuscleApp is the complete tracker for people who train: workout and nutrition diary, a muscle map with real-time recovery, camera-based form analysis and a calisthenics skill tree to climb.

EVERYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE
Your data stays on your phone. No account required, no ads, no trackers.
The app works fully offline. Optional free cloud sync across your devices.

TRAINING
• Workout log with sets, reps, weights and personal records
• Muscle map: see which muscles are loaded and which are ready
• Per-muscle recovery computed from your sessions
• Calisthenics skill tree: 19 progressions, from your first push-up to the planche
• Guided multi-level workouts with timers and automatic rests
• Built-in HIIT timer and stopwatch

• Take a photo or record a video of your exercise: the app analyses your posture and tells you what to fix (squat, dips, front lever and ~79 exercises across 13 families)
• Automatic real-time push-up counter
• Everything is processed ON your device: no image is ever uploaded

NUTRITION
• Food diary with 450+ preloaded foods plus custom foods
• Barcode scanner powered by Open Food Facts

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-09-26

Saved workouts are more flexible: adjust a session's intensity and rest times without changing the saved plan. We've made the timer, log, progress charts and form analysis clearer, improved navigation, and added new mascot guides. Readability and many small details have improved.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-09-14

A new Workout home makes workouts, logs, progressions and tools easier to reach. Settings are clearer, active-calorie goals can be personalized, and imperial units, navigation and readability have improved. New store visuals and many fixes complete this update.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-08

AUTOMATIC STEPS
• MuscleApp can now read your daily step count from Apple Health. Turn on "Automatic steps" in Settings > Goals: it imports the last 30 days and then keeps itself up to date. If you wear an Apple Watch there is nothing else to do — the watch already writes to Health.
• Steps feed your daily calorie expenditure, so your target gets more accurate on its own.

FOOD
• Fixed the calorie ring in Food: it was closing on your maintenance needs instead of your goal, so anyone losing weight saw about 550 kcal more than they should. Food, Profile and Progress now show the same number.
• Fiber is now tracked as the fifth value, with the recommended 25 g daily threshold.
• You can log food and workouts on any day, not just the last seven: the calendar sits at the end of the day strip.
• Search your own history: when did I eat salmon, when did I last bench press.
• Notes on food entries, like sets already had. They show in the row and in the CSV export.

TRAINING
• Circuits: link two or more exercises and alternate them in rounds instead of finishing one at a time.
• Sets on timed holds: "3 x 1 minute plank" is finally something you can write.
• New "Reps and effort" chart in Progress, pairing weekly reps with average RPE.
• You can stop following a plan without deleting it.
• Deleting a plan now asks first, has a visible bin next to the pencil, and offers Undo.

YOUR DATA
• The app no longer compresses your older history at every launch. Diary, steps and water were deleted after 6 months and workouts older than 3 months were reduced to a weekly summary — silently, with the JSON backup saving the already-compressed state. You can now keep everything.
• Undo on a deleted entry survives cloud sync: the entry no longer came back and then vanished again hours later.

ACCESSIBILITY
• System large text finally works: every text scales with your iPhone setting.
• Zoom is no longer blocked, panels close with Esc, focus stays inside a panel and returns where it started, VoiceOver announces panels as dialogs, and icon buttons have a 44pt target.

UNITS
• Pounds, feet and inches in Settings > Units — charts included.

ALSO
• Two more themes: Rose and Amber.
• Unlocking an achievement is an actual moment now, not a four-second text message.
• The three initial setup steps can be skipped.
• Faster start-up and a more responsive app, especially on slower phones.
• A panel now points you to Settings > Send feedback, where you can report a bug or ask for a feature.

FIXES
• Exercises logged today were labelled "yesterday" after 8pm.
• Deleting a progress photo no longer uses the grey system dialog.
• Human flag no longer overlaps dragon flag in the skill tree.
• Calorie cycling no longer moves your target by 400 kcal halfway through the day.
• Two charts in Progress now draw the 7-day average line and the gradient fills that were missing.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-08-30

FORM CHECK, REBUILT
• Video analysis retuned on real footage: it now scores each repetition instead of averaging the whole clip.
• When the take doesn't show enough, the app says so instead of guessing a score.
• It tells you how to film before you record, and what went wrong with the take afterwards.
• New: a history of your analyses. Today's result is compared with your last one for the same exercise.
• Push-ups filmed from the front are analysed in part instead of being rejected.

TRAINING
• Timed sets on ab exercises: 3x30" instead of 3x15, and they still count as reps, not cardio.
• Hold timer for timed exercises.
• The Gym section of the exercise library is now split by muscle group.

CALORIES
• Workout calories are calculated from the actual mechanical work: your body weight, the load you lift and your height all count. Logging the weight of a set makes the estimate more accurate.
• Walking, cycling, rowing and swimming use their own speed formulas instead of the running one.
• Fixed the daily calorie goal on the home ring, which was adding every workout ever logged.

LANGUAGE
• Fully translated into English: all 273 exercise guides, exercise names and the workout screen. Search works across languages, so "deadlift" and "stacchi" find the same exercise.

ILLUSTRATIONS
• Exercise images that did not match the movement they were named after have been redrawn, and the 29 sports that had none now have one.

FIXES
• Reminders no longer arrive when the master toggle is off, and a bug that could re-arm them after you cancelled them is gone.
• New "Rate the app" entry in Settings.
