### 3/5 — Premium

*2026-08-22, version 2.14.44*

Don’t get me wrong this is a great app but almost everything is behind a paywall just wish there were more things for the free option

### 1/5 — DONT GET FREE TRIAL

*2026-08-19, version 2.14.44*

I accidentally got a free trial for this app and it wont let me refund at all, no matter what i try and a waste of money.

### 1/5 — Just fully pay to get

*2026-08-19, version 2.14.44*

Even though the app is free and it has many good sheet music, this app for some reason likes money too much just like CapCut and puts a price tag on everything, might as well be cousins with CapCut. At this point I would prefer to go through the whole day looking for some sheet music on a sketchy website that promises free V-bucks rather than to pay hundreds per year, and even having the audacity to ask for my payment choice way before the 7 day trial starts. I don’t like this app, at least CapCut is at least a little useable, I might as well sit at the cd player sweating myself off listening for all of the notes. I can’t even turn ONE page without getting forced to pay like I’m going on a trip from place to place with tolls. it’s practically like these devs think they aren’t getting to much Cha-Ching in. I guess nobody can do anything fun on the internet these days without some fat bill in their face all the time.

### 1/5 — A shame

*2026-08-18, version 2.14.43*

I would love to use the app but it forces you to answer intake questions and sign up for a subscription I don’t want or need. Musescore is great; I wish the app were designed with humans in mind.

### 4/5 — I want to edit

*2026-08-16, version 2.14.43*

It has been good so far, but at this point, I am on my phone and I will want to be able to add instrument to my score

### 1/5 — DO NOT DO THE FREE TRIAL! Shady billing!!

*2026-08-15, version 2.14.42*

They tried to bill my card several days before end of the “free” trial. So
I canceled immediately. And yet they are trying again to charge my card. For a YEAR membership to an app I have already canceled prior to the end of the supposedly free trial. Make it make sense.

### 1/5 — Used to be my favorite app

*2026-08-14, version 2.14.42*

Now I can’t do anything on here I stg

### 1/5 — Dark pattern subscription trap

*2026-08-14, version 2.14.42*

I signed up to their 7 day free trial. On day 6, the subscription page showed no upcoming payment or renewal due (basically making it look like I wouldn’t be charged) and sure enough the next day I got charged £99 for their annual plan anyway. No phone support, no way of contacting them. I’m now having to file a refund claim directly with Apple (still pending).

Be very careful before a trial ends and don’t trust what the sub page tells you.

### 1/5 — Money Hungry app that ignores already purchased content.

*2026-08-12, version 2.14.40*

Listening to scores on your phone is practically impossible because the app literally asks you to purchase the score every 15 seconds, even for scores I have purchased on my computer. This is type of aggressive marketing is extremely inconsiderate and makes for a bad listening experience. I thought scores were free to listen to but need to pay to download. I am extremely disappointed and I am removing the app from my phone now.

### 1/5 — Charged for an account I can’t access or cancel

*2026-08-12, version 2.14.40*

I was charged $69.99 for a second MuseScore subscription that I did not knowingly sign up for. MuseScore says this subscription is tied to a second account using an Apple private-relay email address, but I cannot access this account or cancel the subscription.

There is no record of this additional subscription or charge in my Apple account, and I never received a confirmation that I had signed up for it. MuseScore repeatedly sends me to Apple, while Apple provides no way to access or cancel a subscription that doesn’t appear in my account. MuseScore support has been unwilling or unable to resolve the problem despite repeated requests.

Charging customers for subscriptions they don’t knowingly purchase, tying them to accounts they can’t access, and then providing no effective way to cancel or get help feels dangerously close to fraud. I would strongly recommend avoiding MuseScore’s subscription services.

### 1/5 — Smh

*2026-08-11, version 2.14.40*

Some of the worst ui design and mechanics I have ever seen. Constantly breaks, nothing is labeled.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Insufficient Information

*2026-08-26*

I paid for a song score of the lakes by Taylor swift. I usually pay for scores to get the midi and go, however because of how the app is structured, I wasn’t given sufficient information about the score and realised after purchasing that there was no midi file, only a pdf. Now I have to find a pdf to midi converter. This is ridiculous. Why am I unable to view ALL scores and listen to it being played before purchasing. I usually don’t have an issue with the app because I would never use it because of the constant ridiculous pop ups portraying the apps greediness but if I’m gonna pay for any score on the app, I should at least be given full information about what I’m paying for instead, requesting me to pay and only getting that information after payment. Just a money hungry company. Rubbish

### 1/5 — Pro + sucks

*2026-08-26, version 2.14.44*

What is the point of paying for this when most good scores are still locked behind a $5 payment?

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2026-08-26, version 2.14.44*

I can’t view any of the sheet music. App expects me to pay for sheet music without viewing it! Waste of time.

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY THIS

*2026-08-26, version 2.14.44*

SCAM. they take your money and they don’t give it back. I’m an idiot for even trying. I wanted ONE score, said it was 99 cents. Turned out to be a $60 subscription. What was included might you ask? I paid to have a discount on sheet music. So I didn’t even get ANY music for paying $60. DO NOT USE THIS IM BEGGING YOU

### 1/5 — Bad Customer Service

*2026-08-25, version 2.14.44*

I was recommended MuseScore by a colleague and went to check it out. I clicked on the “free trial” and a pop up with Back to School Specials came up, so I chose the plan I thought would benefit me the most after what I thought was the free trial. However, I was charged $119 for the app, never got a free trial and it turns out that the app isn’t even compatible with the project I was working on. I tried to cancel and get an immediate refund after realizing I did NOT get a free trial and Apple refused to refund me even though I haven’t used the app. Additionally, MuseScore’s policy is they aren’t responsible for Apple purchases. I feel the “back to school specials” were misleading and false advertising. I don’t recommend this app based on this experience and I am very unhappy with MuseScore.

### 1/5 — Desonestos.

*2026-08-25*

### 1/5 — Scammed me and didn’t give me the product

*2026-08-24, version 2.14.44*

Took the 30 day plan and forgot to turn off the payments, thought it was only monthly so there wasn’t much risk of forgetting, charged me over 200 dollars for a few years and didn’t give me the product. Stuck using the free version and I don’t even want to interact with what I can already predict is an atrocious excuse of customer service. Use the free version or don’t use at all.

### 1/5 — Hidden deceptive subscription practices

*2026-08-23, version 2.14.44*

You think you’re buying a 1-3 piece of music and then they charge you with a subscription that is impossible to cancel. I’m not a boomer I sign up for free trials all the time and realize when I am. They are hoping you don’t notice and you’re signing up for a subscription in the fine print. Run

### 1/5 — NOT FREE! just use the web site!

*2026-08-21*

this app is just a worse version of the web site, & won’t let you actually look at anything without answering a bunch of survey questions & then signing up for a trial subscription (which will, of course, automatically switch to a paid one unless you cancel it). don’t say things are FREE when you can’t even USE the app without a subscription!! also STOP MAKING EVERYTHING A SUBSCRIPTION.

UPDATE: dev response says you can still view a lot of things without a subscription. sure. on the web site. not with the app. because any time you click on anything in the app, it immediately redirects you to the trial/subscription flow with no way to cancel out of it & just view the score. which makes the app utterly useless without a subscription. also, not everyone wants to answer a long survey, especially when they already have a login they’ve been using on the web site for years & just wants to view something quickly.

**Developer response:** Hello. We understand that long surveys can be frustrating. These questions help us better understand users’ needs and improve the app experience. For any further assistance, you can reach us at community@mu.se. We want to make it clear that MuseScore continues to provide a substantial selection of material at no cost. Many scores, chord charts, lyrics, and community tools remain fully accessible without any subscription.

### 5/5 — Tiki tiki phonk

*2026-08-25, version 2.14.44*

I was kicked from my moms basement and had no where to go so I brought my trumpet with me to the street and played tiki tiki phonk and yara yara phonk with the help of musescore. Tom in suit then hired me to play for him and I got a job. Best app ever

### 5/5 — O melhor!

*2026-08-16*

Esse programa é realmente muito bom, tem algumas desvantagens de não poder fazer download de algumas partituras mesmo tendo o plano premium, isso deveria melhor, mas no geral é muito bom

I wanted help in piano it helps good but it doesn’t leave u alone

### 5/5 — better than Spotify

*2026-08-13, version 2.14.42*

I can find almost all the songs here in and each is perfection. There’s something to it that sounds better than hearing Spotify track. While Spotify is still ok

### 5/5 — Fake subscription

*2026-08-07, version 2.14.40*

This sucks. They suckered me into a subscription that gets me nothing. I can’t look at any scores, I can just access “courses”. I tried to open a score and I just get a hard sell to upgrade. I want a refund.
