I do feel that the descriptions are lacking. I have also not had any luck using the scientific name in the search function which is kind of a bummer. Thirdly, it lists psilocybes as poisonous which is a little dishonest I think. All in all I feel like I wasted $5, had to give it 3 stars because it still has some good features and a decent library it still needs work to be a 5star app ### 4/5 — Good app *2019-06-23, version 8.8* It’s quite useful while out walking around, but I find several types aren’t in the database. I’m sure it will continue to improve over time. Also there are several mistakes in the identification. When I enter "boletes" I should not see gilled or toothed mushrooms in the results. ### 4/5 — My expert review. *2017-06-02* I find the app very handy. It's great to have in the field when hunting different species. I only wish it had the common name as well as the scientific name on the quiz part of the app. Getting people to learn different mushrooms is fantastic. I just wish on the quiz part you had an option to change to proper scientific names. Nicknames can be confusing and passing down nicknames instead of proper scientific terminology does nobody good on the quiz section. Everything else is great. Great app. Thanks for all the effort on the app. ### 4/5 — Good app needs more work *2017-05-25* Pretty good list of mushrooms with some important details like spore print, but many species are not yet listed, photos are limited and identification through criteria is not the most accurate. Ive inly had it a couple days and this app is educating me tremendously. The description includes scientific names for mishrooms, paragraph detailed description, and multiple color photos of each mushroom. This app helped me identify look alike mushrooms. You can also enter in your description of a mushroom and it will populate multiple possible matches based on a percentage scale matching your description. Well worth $5. ### 4/5 — A bit pricey for what it is so far but nice app *2016-12-06, version 8.06* A really nice app but limited. Don’t waste your money! Other apps let u snap a photo of mushrooms you find this one does not! Terrible mushroom ID! When i put in precise mushroom descriptions, its comes up with mushrooms that are NOTHING like i’m describing! If you try to userhis to ID mushrooms, it couldcost you your life!!! ### 1/5 — Sucks *2018-08-03* I live in the boreal plain ecozone of Canada and there no relatable material. All fungi id pics should include gills, stem and cap. Moreover, their edibility data is wrong on several species. The first one I spotted was Clavariadelphus truncatus, which is described as inedible, but in reality is highly edible with a sweet flavor. I would really like my $$ back- this is a bunk deal. ### 1/5 — .... Really? *2016-08-10, version 8.06* The utmost information this app provides on edibility is "edible according to some sources". This is a completely useless statement. You really got to do better than that when it potentially comes down to life and death. Why not at least cite the ressources so everyone can judge their validity? Not worth $4.99. It also doesn’t tell you where in North America you can find the mushrooms. Taking pictures and doing a google search for free is more useful. ### 2/5 — Not too good *2018-07-27* This app is lacking a bunch! It doesn’t have lots of very common mushrooms that you would actually find in the woods. (Turkey tail, chicken of the woods, only one oyster) It also does a very poor job of giving a good description of key features needed to identify some mushrooms. Also, why wouldn’t list the spore print color for every mushroom? That’s very important! I’m very disappointed in this app and feel like I just threw $5 in the garbage. If you are serious about identifying mushrooms, this app is not good. ### 2/5 — Mushroom identification *2016-11-09* I enjoyed this app in the beginning but was disappointed when I found several mushrooms with only one picture in one stage of its growth. I can at the very least describe in the detail section of the app the different stages of a mushroom.
