Start with a field, a generator and nerve. Book the acts, build the bars, hire the crew, and turn a backyard show into a festival people drive across the country for.

Lay out your site the way you want it — cluster the food stalls into a proper food court, put the toilets where the queues won't ruin anyone's night, and light the whole thing up. Grouped stalls run better than scattered ones, so a well-planned festival genuinely outperforms a messy one.

Then run the show. Watch the crowd pour in, spot the trouble before it spreads, send a medic to the front rail, and see whether the headliner was worth the fee.
