### 4/5 — good app but wasted my $3!

*2026-03-01*

i used to take piano lessons and my teacher recommended me this app. it helped me a lot to memorize the notes. i bought the upgraded version a long time ago but then i quit piano. i kept the app in case i wanted to pick it back up again and i offloaded it to save space and redownloaded it again and it said i needed to pay again! not mad just upset that i have to buy it again. otherwise i really liked this and i would pay for it again!

### 4/5 — Needs guitar

*2023-02-16*

Would be a killer app with a guitar note section like the keyboard more section. I’ve already learned how to understand sheet music through the app alone In like 30 min. As a guitarist I really need something that can help me pick random keys on the fretboard.

### 4/5 — Excellent app, but…

*2022-10-07*

This is a very simple and basic app, with just flashcards. This is perfect for a beginner of any age, learning how to read music. It’s also good for review for anyone who is advanced as well. It’s fun to see how fast I can name the notes. However, I really don’t like how all the notes are in blue. Will you please add an option to change the notes to black instead of blue? I have perfect pitch and synesthesia, and that means, when I see a blue note, I see and hear the note E. That’s incredibly annoying! My type of synesthesia gives colors to notes. So, it’s incredibly distracting and annoying to see blue on every single note. Will you please add the option to change the notes to black instead? The app will be much more fun when I can change the notes to be black. Please add key signature flashcards. Thanks for reading my review!

When I can change the notes from blue to black, I will give this app five stars. 😀

### 5/5 — 5 stars!!!!

*2019-03-07*

It is awesome I have been doing this for 2 minutes and i already know pretty much all the notes!!! I would suggest this app to the people that are interested in learning how to play instruments.

### 5/5 — Great

*2018-01-15*

If you’re looking to memorize how notes are positioned on the staff this is the app to get. No fluff, just flash cards.
Bonus: also has flash cards for piano key location.
Now I know what I’m going to do while standing in line, and it ain’t going to be Facebook.

### 4/5 — Pretty good...

*2018-01-14*

So far, it’s a great app. It’s really helping me read my music better. But. I’m a flute player and the notes that it’s giving me are not even notes that can be played on my instrument. Maybe in the app they can add somewhere where you can pick the instrument and you can learn notes that way? Other than that, a great app and would definitely recommend!

### 5/5 — Very Useful!

*2017-08-09*

It helps me so much especially when learning how to read notes! Great app!

### 5/5 — It's a simple teaching tool

*2017-03-13, version 1.5.8*

I've been using this app to learn sheet music. It really helps!

### 5/5 — Bravo

*2016-12-13, version 1.5.8*

Great app, this beats a book that starts with "this book is designed for use of first grade students" for sure

### 5/5 — Does what I need it to do!

*2015-12-01, version 1.5.7*

I am an adult beginner at piano & really struggle learning the notes. I spent $8 purchasing other apps that just confused me. This app is concise, to the point & extremely helpful to anyone having trouble memorizing & locating notes.

### 5/5 — I love this app!!

*2015-08-14, version 1.5.7*

I've been teaching piano for 14 years, and I love this app!! I have my students buy it to practice with at home. I also use the app on my iPad during lessons.

### 5/5 — Beautiful, simple, and easy to learn!

*2014-11-02, version 1.5.3*

This app makes a game out of learning music notes and symbols. It starts out very easy and somehow seems to know when to increase difficulty.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Making me purchase again - garbage

*2024-02-04, version 2.0.2*

Keeps prompting me with “what does a vcr do” then asking to upgrade, restore purchase, or no thanks. Won’t let me restore purchase. That’s really poor form - making me pay again. Time to purchase a different app.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2023-10-17, version 2.0.2*

Keeps asking a parental question about vcr and asks to upgrade and just keeps looping

### 1/5 — Wrong notes

*2021-09-15*

Wrong notes! Bass clef and treble clef! Obviously the person who created this app doesn’t know the notes himself. Wasted my money! Can I get my money back?

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2021-04-20*

I have used it before! It was perfect, but now it crashes every time I swap the screen!
It needs some update!
Thank you.

**Developer response:** Fredo, Thanks for your feedback! The swipe issue is fixed. Please give it a try.

### 1/5 — Not suitable for children

*2019-09-12, version 1.6.0*

Thought this would help my child who has had a year of lessons, but this is not a good app for that. It does not mirror the way beginners learn, the first note you are presented with is a high D. The app is also very boring, no colours, images or encouragement of any kind. Suggest it’s better for keen adults.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy

*2017-12-24*

What a waste of $1.99 this app looks like it was developed by a 2 year old any way I can get my money back ?

**Developer response:** Marco, as per my email, developers cannot reimburse you only Apple can. Please click on the link in the email and follow the directions and you will get your $1.99 refund. Next time please read the description carefully before you make a purchase.

### 1/5 — Buggy! Only treble clef works

*2016-09-24, version 1.5.7*

Buggy. When I tried selecting bass clef, the screen changed orientation, all the buttons disappeared and nothing worked! Horrible! This app is worthless until they fix this bug!!!

### 1/5 — ????

*2010-09-10, version 0*

Does this teach before it tests???? Or does one need to get a book, which one could have done initially.

### 1/5 — not so good

*2009-07-10, version 0*

For me, it does'nt work at all. In fact, all it does do is lock-up my computer and itouch everytime I try to sync it.

### 2/5 — Not what I was looking for!

*2016-05-09, version 1.5.7*

I was looking for an app my kids could use to learn notes & symbols. I expected this app to first focus on the notes within the lines of the staff, focusing first on the treble & then base clef. The app does ask note names but focuses a lot on the treble clef & quickly moves to notes well above & below the staff lines. I'm not saying eventually that wouldn't be helpful but it has poor steps from concept to concept & seems to focus on obscure notes & symbols. Why focus on 16th & 32nd & 64th rests until the basic rests are mastered? Why focus on notes out of the lines until the basic notes are mastered? I'm not talking about a middle c that's barely out of the lines, I'm talking about notes 3 lines above the top line. Sadly this app was a disappointment .

### 5/5 — Piano flash cards

*2023-08-24*

Really enjoy this piano flash cards! I definitely recommend!

### 5/5 — Needed optimization for the newer devices

*2023-08-24*

Looks pretty simple application to learn music. Keep adding more music learning tools/materials. And as mentioned by other reviewers, please add materials for the “guitar” (especially, acoustic guitar) for me. Please!!

Please work on optimization and better UI for the newer devices.

My Device: iPhone 14 Pro Max (latest iOS), iPad Pro 12.9” (2018, 3rd Generation, latest iPadOS)

Note: I regularly update my review/rating for this application.

With Kindest Regards-BR

### 5/5 — Great for building sight reading skills

*2022-08-21, version 1.6.2*

This app is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a no frills layout that lets you practice reading notes very easily and rapidly without distracting games or challenges. Thank you very much.
…if you do update the app - It would be wonderful to be able to practice the grand staff as well.

### 5/5 — Correct notes for a piano!

*2022-08-19*

App is good and correct and does include some ledget notes! „superduperu“ is not correct but maybe has different instrument but review reads like a troll, so ignore that review please. Sorry, I can not tell you how hogh or low it goes, but I assume it goes to Ledger note C or maybe Emin treble cleff and probably down to ledger note E or maybe C in bass clef at least. (C3 and c3? I have forgotten how to write this. Sorry!)

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2021-04-02*

This app really helps me with playing my piano and others!

### 5/5 — Great app for learning

*2020-01-20*

Just what I was looking for to help me learn to read music. One of the best I tried. Really good that it is progressive, so you start with the treble clef lines, then add the gaps, etc, so it gets harder as you get better. Also, really good that you can learn both by name the note or by choose the piano key. Learn treble clef first then add bass when ready. Thanks for this brilliant app.

### 5/5 — I learned in just 3 minutes!

*2019-06-16*

Now I sucked at piano and normal flash cards i cheated ¯\_(ツ)_/
Because i never thought an app would teach me instantly.I tried many apps but all of them were so bad. I learned base cleff and G cleff in 3 minutes. I totally recommend it!

### 5/5 — Clean and simple

*2019-06-11*

A great, no-nonsense app for learning to recognize notes. I'm learning piano via an app, but I've been concerned that I'm learning by using the numbered finger positions and not actually learning to read the notes themselves and the app pushes me right along. Enter Blue Note - an app I can use anywhere, any time. Exactly what I was looking for.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-05-01, version 1.6.0*

Great app for learning musical notes. I use it for 10 minutes or so every day and my music reading is improving all the time. Its actually fun while learning. Small comment-app plays note when I get it right, but why not when I get it wrong?
