### 5/5 — I love it

*2026-02-15*

This saves me so much money as I don’t have to pay hundreds a month to learn guitar. Thank you and I look forward to more lessons. I love the visual games cuz I can visualize the guitar from the comfort of bed too. My leg hurts to get up so I can learn guitar without having to sit always. Yaya.

### 5/5 — Learned so much so fast

*2026-02-07*

Short snippets of learning. Explains so much on how the fret board works and practice drills to help it sink in. Big Justin Guitar fan before this app, recommend all his products.

Great new App for learning Guitar theory!

### 5/5 — Simply outstanding

*2026-01-15*

I’ve been working with the Justin Guitar app for a while, and now discovered the Music Theory app.

I must say it is absolutely worth it! Thank you, Justin for all that you do.

### 5/5 — Great and helpful app! BUT

*2025-12-24, version 0.3.0*

Hey Justin! Saw you made this new app on your website so came to check it out and I like it a lot! This is definitely an app a lot of people have been wanting so thank you for making it! Please in the future could you add a little more free options? I know an app like this is worth the monthly/yearly subscriptions but I feel it’ll get more downloads if that was done! But honestly great app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Expensive and unnecessary

*2026-04-19*

Good content, well presented by Justin and easy to follow, I learnt from the free content but could not see how this was worth the early access £45 asking price let alone the actual £80 asking!

There’s just not enough current content and I can’t see how they will justify the price.

Being subscription seems strange, It’s not something I’m going to come back to constantly.

Why isn’t it included as a module for the main Justin app if you wanted it? And why isn’t it a one off price?

Maybe if it was a one off bolt on for the main Justin app and much cheaper, £20? I’d gladly buy it but as it’s a separate app, not much content and unsure about future content, and so expensive it’s a pass.

### 1/5 — Cost

*2026-03-03*

The introduction is too basic. I was not certain subsequent lessons would be useful and was unwilling to spend the money. However if the subscription was around $25 I might have tried it. In summary I think you are asking for too much money for the various additional apps in Justin Guitar.

### 1/5 — Poor value

*2026-02-19*

I have other Justin apps that are good. This app is a good way to learn theory, however even with 25% discount on the first year at £45 there is only enough content to keep me interested for 2 weeks max! Only 1 small update so far. Extremely poor value as it stands.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you so much for being a loyal user of the Justin apps! We really appreciate your honest feedback.

As a small team of developers, we’re working hard to build out the Theory app to the same high standard as the others. We hear you on the content—we’re currently in the middle of a major push to add new modules and interactive exercises. In fact, we just released Units 3.1 through 3.8 recently, and there is much more in the pipeline.

We know the ‘value’ isn’t fully there for everyone yet, but we’re committed to making it the definitive theory resource for guitarists. Your support directly helps us speed up that development. Stay tuned for more updates very soon!

Best,
The Dev Team

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money - also it’s not 4+ years old just over a month or so

*2025-12-23*

Just horrible design, so many bugs and fundamental errors

### 1/5 — Poor

*2025-12-17*

Presented with blank screen after menu selection and taking a considerable time to redownload. Unable to share with iPhone because it will not download.

### 2/5 — Released too soon

*2026-02-23*

Similar to another reviewer I have subscribed to other of Justin’s apps and am enjoying them but this is overpriced even with discount. I’ve completed this course in just over a week .

### 2/5 — Good but not good enough

*2026-02-11*

Good app, but not worth the money, content is good but not enough of it, been waiting months for the 4th part.

Very disappointing

### 2/5 — No web and app subscription option

*2025-10-22*

I’m giving the app two stars because there is no link between the web based music theory course and the app based course. If you want the convenience of the app on the go and want to web based version, then you pay twice!

I love learning with Justin Guitar, but I’m not paying twice to learn music theory.

### 3/5 — Bought the program

*2026-01-03*

I purchased the Practical Theory through the website. However, I don’t have an option to sign into the app, only to subscribe.

Perhaps I’m missing something but I’m not going to pay twice

### 5/5 — Really helped!

*2026-07-14*

I’m taking Justin’s other class and decided that if I was really going to learn to play well, I needed to put in the hard work of understanding some music theory. I’m so glad I did. The course allowed me learn a bunch of concepts that I’ve either heard about and didn’t understand OR that I’ve never heard about before. The concepts take some work to really sink in and I can see myself coming back from time to time to refresh it in my head. Justin explains the ideas well - I just need to using them and applying them to my playing. Really happy I took this and stuck with it.

### 5/5 — Relaxing way to learn

*2026-06-29*

I wanted to thank Justin and his team for teaching me so many things I wish I’d learned years ago. I have played guitar since I was a teenager - always felt that it was beyond me - maybe knock out a couple of standards at a pinch round a fire. I am working through Grade 2 on Justin Guitar currently and although I know the chords and so on the practical advice on technique and practice, combined with an entirely new understanding of the theory from the Music Theory app is making a 59 year old a substantially better guitarist. And I have really enjoyed the process - there is a level of calm that I appreciate in the presentation. I’ve jumped ahead for a taste of what is to come and gone back to revise what I need to consolidate. A completely brilliant full package for anyone who wants to properly make progress on guitar.

### 5/5 — Music Theory App Justin Guitar

*2026-06-05, version 0.8.2*

As with all Justin Guitar products, this is awesome and super useful!

### 5/5 — Best lessons I‘ve ever had. Easy learning. Great Job.

### 5/5 — Helpful!

*2026-04-30*

I am using the other Justin Guitar app for about 5 months and am making good progress. I know something about music but want to know more so I can play better.

### 5/5 — how many units are planned?

*2026-04-25*

and when is unit 4 comming?

### 5/5 — Excellent resource

*2026-04-19*

Justin’s music theory app is neatly organized into bite sized, easily digested sections with interactive quizzes that cement the precious learning ideas. After trying in vain to learn music theory I’ll never ever going back. Ever forward, Stephen.

### 5/5 — Mr Jay

*2026-04-15*

Outstanding so far

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-03-26*

Awesome

### 5/5 — Easy To Use

*2026-03-23*

I’ve always wanted to understand music on a deeper level because I’d love to write songs (singing & guitar). This app makes it so easy to stay motivated because it’s small baby steps and interactive. Five stars!
