## What is Music Theory?

Train your musical ear through games. NoteHunter is two apps in one: a guided Journey that teaches music the way real teachers do, and a Free Play sandbox where serious musicians drill the skills they actually need.

LEARN: A FULL MUSIC THEORY COURSE (NEW)

Nine units and 47 short lessons cover how music actually works: the staff, note names, rhythm and meter, scales, keys and the circle of fifths, intervals, chords, and cadences. Every lesson plays what it teaches, and quick drills after each one make sure it stuck.

THE JOURNEY (great for kids, parents, and beginners)

A step-by-step path through four biomes: Meadow, Forest, Mountains, and Ocean. Each biome adds new skills in the order music education actually teaches them. Higher or Lower comparisons, melodic contour, Sol-Mi singing, intervals, rhythm patterns, and sight reading. A friendly Bear mascot walks the map with you. Meadow and Forest are free; Mountains and Ocean unlock with Premium.

FREE PLAY (for musicians who know what they want to practice)

Jump into any drill at any difficulty:
• Note Practice: identify random notes across your chosen pitch range
• Interval Training: recognize the distance between two notes
• Rhythm Hunter: drag and drop beats, from quarter notes to complex syncopation
• Sheet Reading: read notes from the staff with adjustable difficulty ranges

INSIDE EVERY MODE

• AI Coach gives personalized tips and explanations as you play
• Add reference notes to ground your practice
• Multiple time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 6/8)
• Track streaks, accuracy, and progress across all modes
• Haptic feedback so you feel every beat

### 2/5 — Errors

*2026-07-15*

I really wanted to like this but there are 2 big flaws. 1) There is no instructional info so it’s not appropriate for true beginners. 2) There are errors in the rhythm section. For example, it shows a dotted half note as having 4 beats, and tells you an answer is incorrect if you enter two connected eighth notes instead of two separate eighth notes, which doesn’t make any sense.

**Developer response:** Hey! Thank you so much for your review, you were right, it was a real bug and it's fixed now, along with the rhythm notation and some added instructions.

As a thank you, I'd love to offer you a free month. Just update to the latest version, open Settings, tap "Redeem a Code," and enter BUGHUNTER. Hopefully you find it helpful!

I'd really love for you to give it another go. Thanks again for helping make it better! :)

### 5/5 — Saved me from being the guy with no rhythm

*2026-01-30*

I was learning to dance salsa / bachata but I’m hopeless with the rhythm. This app is so playful and helped me get more rhythm at the same time and now I can dance nicely a simple song, stepping on the right times! 😎

### 5/5 — Simple but perfect

*2025-12-10*

Pretty good for practicing my daily ear training

### 1/5 — Concept is ok. Execution sucks

*2023-12-13*

1. I should be able to sign or play an instrument.
2. I should have a larger range than a single octave. In general people are better at identifying the notes they can make.
3. This gets really boring in a hurry. give us themes, the opening 4-6 notes. Get us to play them back.
4. Vary the volume, both for the reference and the question.
5. Too much mousing. As soon as Id the note, it should give me the next one.
6. Too much time. Should be rushing us, or have an adjustable amount of time.
