### 3/5 — Features

*2026-08-15, version 5.3.6*

This app is great, I’ve had it for some time now.

Just two quick things I want to say:

Bring back ALL of the app icons we paid for.

And if possible, bring colored accents to the UI and that sort.

### 2/5 — Good app - Don’t get premium though

*2026-06-17, version 5.2.7*

This app is good so I upgraded to premium so that I could follow more artists. It let me follow more initially but now it does not save the data when I follow a new artist so whenever I fully close the app the artist is no longer followed. Emailed about this and have not heard back. Very frustrating as I paid for the year subscription…

### 3/5 — Not a fan of a new feature

*2026-03-23, version 5.1.9*

Used to find this app so easy to use, but a recent update now forces me to select from various artists options before upload. The selection option appears to function like a radio-button, I can only choose 1 option. Because I listen to mostly international music there are frequently multiple name spellings for a single artist or group but I cannot select multiple options, am required to choose only 1. This forces me to perform the import artist from Spotify process multiple times to get every variant for a single artist. I’m hoping the devs do away with this feature.

### 2/5 — Good app but too pricey

*2026-03-13, version 5.1.8*

$20/year for an app like this is an absolute ripoff. The service is not that involved so this price is above and beyond what it is worth. It’s too bad because it’s a pretty good app, it’s just way overpriced and the free version doesn’t let you add enough artists

### 2/5 — No longer works

*2026-02-13*

Not sure what happened, but for the last month or so the app has stopped working. Hangs at the opening screen and then closes. Was very useful, but now seems to have been abandoned.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. Please try updating to the latest version 5.2.2, which includes some stability improvements that might fix this issue.

### 5/5 — Must have Music release and news app

*2026-01-20, version 5.1.5*

I just want to thank you for creating this application, it changed my life.

### 4/5 — Good Software to stay on top of current music releases.

*2025-12-09, version 5.1.4*

Imports Artist Lists from various services easily and keeps track of release announcements. Cool calendar function, good UX design.

Not good: While it can technically follow labels it only supports a small handpicked selection of labels, useless when you’re into house and techno where following labels is often more important than following artists if you wanna find exciting new releases of a distinct style. - This way you’re stuck to artist and project names and you’re likely to miss out.

All in all still useful for me and worth the price.

### 2/5 — Fragwürdige Preispolitik

*2025-11-17, version 5.1.4*

### 5/5 — Rock out!

*2025-11-13, version 5.1.4*

this app should be a staple in ANY music lover’s library! Have been using it for years, and especially love the Calendar integration so I can always stay up-to-date with the newest releases.

### 2/5 — Good, but deceiving

*2025-11-11, version 5.1.3*

While I love what this app does, they need to be upfront that the import feature is premium. I spent about 30 minutes meticulously selecting artists from my Apple Music Library then when I finally finished and clicked import, it asks me for $20 a year. This angered me quite a bit.

### 4/5 — Loved it, but…

*2025-11-10, version 5.1.3*

Had this for a year, but just cancelled the renewal. It’s a good app, just not worth $20 annually.

### 5/5 — incredibly well designed app

*2025-11-05*

musicharbor is the only yearly subscription i pay for. it’s well worth it and saves me a lot of time searching each week and helps show me things i would have entirely missed.

my only issue is that i cannot change the ‘Sort By’ filter on ‘Released’ and ‘Upcoming’ individually. my only complaint.

otherwise it’s incredibly well made and the dev puts a lot of work into it. 5 stars. 🎧🎧

### 5/5 — Ein Traum -

*2025-11-04, version 5.1.2*

Genial aufgebaut, gefällt mir sehr sehr gut. Vielen, vielen Dank, bitte weiter so. Für mich eine perfekte Ergänzung.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

*2026-09-11*

Linkin Park.

### 1/5 — Lies

*2026-07-21, version 5.3.2*

Despite the response to a previous review there is no option to follow twenty artists to try out the app without paying a subscription.

### 1/5 — Very aggressive paywall

*2026-05-18*

It’s hard to even try the app without paying first. Importing artists from a streaming service requires payment but that’s not clear until you grant access. Too much friction and seems too expensive until I’ve without being able to fully try it.

edit: I’ve manually added some bands to follow and see that there is a paywall to see their news too. I heard that there are limits to the amount of artists you can follow until you upgrade as well. Offering a free trial might be a good option so we can test the value of the service before continuously being upsold.

### 1/5 — Not useful

*2026-04-11*

This would be useful if it pulled in reviews and updates about albums in the genres you follow. Otherwise I don’t see the point.

**Developer response:** MusicHarbor is actually built for people who want to follow specific artists and record labels. If you’re trying to track new releases across an entire genre, you’ll probably have a better experience looking at curated playlists on Apple Music.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2026-02-07, version 5.1.6*

MusicHarbor was once a great app, but now it regularly crashes at startup. It’s been like this for months. Please fix!

### 1/5 — Refuses to integrate with Spotify & help is non-existent

*2026-01-15, version 5.1.5*

I’ve uninstalled the app and reinstalled, restarted it, restarted my MacBook, reset to default settings, etc. yet every time I try to integrate with Spotify I get the same unhelpful error message that states it failed and to try again. The Help bar just opens a pop-up that says help isn’t available for the app. The FAQ within the app doesn’t address any integration issues. And the support link from the App Store doesn’t provide any support- it just links you to a site telling you how amazing the app is. I’ve never been so frustrated before with a macOS app!

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-11-02*

Download, and had to subscribe prior to doing anything at all, so deleted immediately

**Developer response:** That’s simply not true at all. You can follow up to 20 artists for free.

### 1/5 — Paid

*2025-10-19, version 5.1.2*

Most of the app is locked with a paywall…

### 1/5 — Rip-off

*2025-09-17*

Edit: Response to dev response:
While it is true that you keep the individual features you bought, switching the ability to track artists to a subscription model is the issue. It’s the core function of the app. I only purchased the additional features on the pretense that I was able to use the app for what the app was designed to do. So this is very much a bait and switch. “Here’s what our app does! Love it? Support us by buying some extra features. Hey, thanks for your support, but we went ahead and put the entire reason you use the app behind a paywall now. But don’t worry, you can keep your custom icons and stuff” See how that’s an issue?

——————

I was one of the earliest users of this app. I deleted it a while back after they made some changes, but redownloaded it recently to give it another try. To my surprise, even though I’m an early supporter and I bought all their in-app purchases back then, they now want me to pay a very expensive subscription to use the app how I was able to in the past. If you start charging a subscription, you should never take away features from current users that paid money for the app and helped support it from the start. Terrible.

**Developer response:** That’s not true. If you’ve purchased all in-app items, you will always retain access to the features you’ve already bought.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastic stuff!

*2026-07-03, version 5.2.9*

I installed MusicHarbor yesterday and it has already proven itself to be way more useful than I had anticipated! My only complaint is the app only seems to show new releases for artists that are already in your collection. It would be great if it tapped into the Apple Music “New Releases For You” feature as well.

### 5/5 — Fantastic New Music Tracker

*2026-06-17, version 5.2.7*

Simply the best and cleanest way to fight the algorithms cluttering modern streaming apps. I have used this app without issue for years and regularly recommend it to friends. It is a great way to track the artists you care about that is thoughtfully designed and maintained by a responsive developer.

### 5/5 — Removing the distraction

*2026-06-10, version 5.2.6*

It would be hard to overstate how good all the Loop Apps are (MusicHarbor, MusicBox, and MusicSmart). I would really like to see a single app combining the features of all three though.

The main benefit here is the straightfoward presentation. Most of this info is available in streaming services, but it's crowded out by AI generated garbage and other "features".

### 5/5 — Well designed and a breeze to use

*2026-06-02*

Beautiful app, does exactly whats expected

**Developer response:** Thank you so much!

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2026-05-15, version 5.2.5*

Nice integration with Spotify is fine for tracking releases

### 5/5 — Cada vez melhor

*2026-05-11*

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-05-11*

This is a fantastic app. I wouldn’t know half the hip hop that is released without it.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much! That is exactly why I built MusicHarbor, so reading your review absolutely makes my day.

### 5/5 — The Joy of Specific Apps

*2026-03-22, version 5.1.9*

This is how great purpose-built apps can feel. It does everything I want for keeping in touch with the artists I love. I’m not big into social media, so staying on top of news and releases has always been a struggle — and with streaming services you don’t have control over what you see. This app lets me stay informed the way I want. It’s also nice to have a dedicated place on your phone just for checking out releases.
The design and interface are beautifully crafted too — it shows real care went into it.
If you like this, do yourself a favor and check out the developer’s other apps. Marcos Tanaka is one of my favorite indie developers out there. ❤️

### 5/5 — Works phenomenally

*2026-02-13, version 5.1.6*

This is my go to system for keeping track of what new music is going to be released, and what album were recently released. I like that I can import artists from multiple sources.

### 5/5 — Must Have For Music Enthusiasts!!!

*2026-02-04, version 5.1.6*

MusicHarbor is hands-down one of the best music companion apps on iOS. If you care even a little bit about staying up to date with your favorite artists, this app is essential.

The release tracking is insanely good—new singles, albums, EPs, features, even surprise drops are all surfaced cleanly and reliably. No clutter, no algorithm nonsense, just exactly what you want to know, when you want to know it.

The UI is beautiful, fast, and thoughtfully designed. It feels native, polished, and intentional in a way so many apps miss. Everything is easy to scan, easy to act on, and genuinely enjoyable to use.

Notifications are perfectly tuned (finally). You don’t get spammed, but you also never miss a release that matters. And the integration with Apple Music and Spotify makes it effortless to jump straight into listening.

MusicHarbor feels like it was built by someone who actually loves music—not just data. It respects your time, your taste, and your attention.

If you’re the kind of person who gets excited about new releases, follows artists closely, or just wants to stay in the loop without the noise, download this immediately. Five stars without hesitation!!!
