### 3/5 — First and last time

*2026-07-29*

I downloaded this app as a way of getting rid of some dvd’s we’d had for such a long time. The app gives you a price when you scan them, then a week later when the payment came through it was £5 less than what they’d given. Turns out they give you zero for apparent artwork faults. Most of the dvds are 15+years old and had barely been used. A box set of 10 dvds, which had everything there apparently was worth zero because the outer box was damaged. It wasn’t damaged before it was sent. Definitely not worth the hassle of sending items and I won’t be back

### 3/5 — problem delivering.

*2026-03-03*

I ordered a phone on Sunday before 12 pm with next day delivery, they said it would be delivered the following next day, there was an issue so it didn’t come. So i thought it was ok because of course it was ordered on a Sunday. Today, (Tuesday) still haven’t gotten any notification on when it will be here. Now i don’t know if this is a delivery issue, or they messed up during packing/ address but i paid for next day delivery so i was at least expecting for it to come today. It has stopped at a post office for several hours (17+) that i live an hour away from. I contacted MusicMagpie and i have to wait in between 24 hours for a response. If you want a product to come asap i wouldn’t recommend this app! Although i have had a phone that came from here and lasted me 5 years until now. (or whenever the new one comes.) This isn’t a complaint about the products because every product i have gotten from here has been great quality! It’s just the delivery, i did check with the delivery company and they said it wouldn’t be their fault as it’s when the company ships it off. Obviously delivery will be different for everyone so don’t hesitate to order anything.

### 3/5 — Good service bad app

*2026-03-02, version 70.0.305*

I have used MusicMagpie for years and recommend the site. However, the app misses basic functionality: I cannot view my order within the app and cannot track the order from within the app. I can perform both of these functions on the website.

### 1/5 — Scanner doesn’t work

*2026-02-25, version 70.0.305*

Considering I have a new iPhone pro max my camera isn’t the problem

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2026-02-11, version 70.0.305*

Waste a load of time scanning DVDs and then sign up for an account. Need to respond to an email account verification…which never comes through. Don’t waste your life people.

### 1/5 — Stole my items

*2026-01-24, version 70.0.305*

I sent in good useable items games dvds etc and they gave me nothing after stating on the website I would of got something for them DO NOT USE!

### 2/5 — Not worth it

*2026-01-19, version 70.0.305*

We have sold a few books, DVD’s and games on this app along with other similar apps. We understand that these apps will claim some items are missing or damaged even when these items sometimes aren’t. I haven’t had an order where an item isn’t missing or damaged. A lot of things are only going for 1p. But it’s very suspicious that it’s the items they claim are worth more, usually over £1 are the items that have arrived damaged. We had an order over £22 with 64 items and only got £6. The most expensive thing they accepted was 84p. I spent ages sorting through these items I have binned a lot that aren’t in sellable condition and checked that discs are in boxes and it’s not worth it anymore.

### 1/5 — Read the reviews they steal items from trades

*2025-12-20, version 70.0.305*

I sent in a Nintendo switch. They stole the box ( and admitted it) and the buttons. I have taken pictures before I sent it so know exactly what was in the box. Just look at the other reviews they are well known for this. I wish I had read the reviews first.

### 1/5 — Simply Doesn’t Work

*2025-12-07, version 70.0.305*

Open app, sign in to my account, scan items, checkout, get told to sign in. Deleted and reinstalled the app and even tried creating a new account, but still keep being told to sign in.

### 1/5 — Scanner doesn’t know most barcodes

*2025-12-02, version 70.0.305*

I have just tried scanning several barcodes, most of which are for items only a few years old, and none of them were found. Even keying in the barcode manually doesn’t work.

Completely useless app. Someone buy their developers a book on “developing apps” for Christmas!

### 1/5 — Waste of Time !!

*2025-11-14, version 70.0.305*

Awful App & Website, put everything in, went to change address, constantly pinging me out of the app not loading on website !
Use World of books instead !!

### 1/5 — Total Rubbish Site

*2025-10-15, version 70.0.305*

After seeming an advert about selling your unwanted dvd’s I thought I’d get it ago. 200 scanned dvd’s later and only one excepted for 11p. What a waste of time, do yourself a favour don’t bother to download it’s not worth it

### 1/5 — Mr

*2025-08-19, version 70.0.305*

Terrible app. Extremely slow when searching for items

### 1/5 — ‘Lost’ My Items

*2025-08-08, version 70.0.305*

I once sent them an order worth £30 & they ‘lost’ it. So my items were gone & of course I didn’t receive any payment for them. No communication from anyone on their side.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2025-07-31, version 70.0.305*

Every time I try to sign in to complete check out, it instantly says I’ve been signed out so can’t complete check out. But looking at the reviews here, it probably saved me plenty of hassle…and to be fair £6.53 for 72 items, think they’ll be heading to the charity shop instead…

### 1/5 — Avoid

*2025-07-15, version 70.0.305*

An absolute waste of time. Donate to charity instead of giving things away to these scum bags.

### 1/5 — Greed incorporated

*2025-07-10, version 70.0.305*

Since the dreadful company AO made magpie part of their “family” a grim ap and service has gone to pot. 40+% of all scans now a penny and all others devalued massively The only one worse than them is enviromedia who pay nothing, not even postage! And zapper who buys almost nothing but a penny for the items they do. This is modern and legalised slavery. For goodness sake everyone go elsewhere

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Exceptionally Poor!

*2026-08-15*

My package arrived with NO PHONE only a charger! It is impossible to get through to anyone and after multiple emails and online chat messages I have finally received a very generic email to say this is being looked into but may take 14 days… I am still waiting! I am beyond disappointed and I have currently lost over £500 for an iPhone, with no idea if I will get my money back!!

### 1/5 — They aren’t what they were

*2026-07-22*

Has used them several years before and had great experiences, this time however send a package that arrived intact with all content. Notification was received…then nothing…

Afternoon chasing didn’t get a response for ages and then they said order wasn’t intact and only partially scanned.

The problem here is regardless payment hasn’t been made, which means this effectively amounts to just outright theft and fraud.

Terrifying and worst just a waste of time. Avoid like the plague.

### 1/5 — Did Not Collect

*2026-07-20*

I thought twice about using the app as prices offered were very poor but weighted up my options and thought the convenience of collection and time spent listing on eBay would save me in the long run. However, I waited in from 8am to 8pm and the driver did not arrive. I could have listed these myself in that time.

### 1/5 — Drastically dropped price of iPad mini.

*2026-07-18*

I sent an iPad mini (2019) to mM and the initial quote was for just over £90. Once they had received it, done their tests, the price was drastically reduced to £9.30. They claimed that there was cosmetic & water damage, and the iPad was bent.
The iPad had been in a fully closable case since new, so unsure how the water damage occurred. To the naked eye, it was in excellent condition.
If you do choose mM to sell your mobile phones or other higher value items, take pictures and note the IMEI number or other designated identification of the item.
I asked for the iPad to be returned, however because I didn’t take pictures or log the IMEI number (as I was not expecting the disrespectfully low amount offered) I was unsure if the iPad returned to me was even the one that I had sent in.
MusicMagpie are not a company I would use for anything.
Heed the one star reviews, but in my opinion, they do not deserve even one star. Poor service.

### 1/5 — Dreadful app

*2026-07-12*

Clunky slow and un intuitive. This app must have been designed by the intern. Absolutely useless

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-06-24*

It’s such a shame to write this review about this company. I’ve had really good service with them most of the time. Unfortunately this time has been terrible Service the lack of communication from them the lack of urgency to sort my claim out the lack of urgency to do anything it makes you feel ignored worthless and honestly you’re better off either selling it yourself on eBay for more money or to a High Street chain or another online company besides this one would not recommend at all.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2026-05-31*

Scanned multiple DVD’s and Blurays and the app just says not accepting these titles.

### 1/5 — False warranty!!

*2026-04-29, version 102.1.102*

Stay clear of this company bought a phone around four months ago had issue sent it back told me it was from accidental damage gave no proof of this I haven’t dropped the phone once terrible customer service AVOID AT ALL COSTS absolutely shocked that this is even allowed all I asked for was a refund for my faulty product gave me a barebones reply after I sent it back to them and said they will send this broken phone back to me once again AVOID!!!!

### 1/5 — RIP off

*2026-04-11*

Do not sell your items with these as they say they will give you £20 but instead you get 0.73p

### 1/5 — Destroyed the all

*2026-03-05*

You’ve totally destroyed the app 😔 Im searching for Movies and its offering me headphones and mobile phones and other completely Unrelated stuff. I Can no longer search for Movies or Tv Shows 😒

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Was quick and straight forward

*2026-08-13*

Sold my phone via the app and was surprised to see I could drop it off at my nearest Timpson. Took around five minutes to get paid.

### 5/5 — Good service

*2025-09-05, version 70.0.305*

Overall I can’t complain having received fast payment and vast majority of items being accepted

### 5/5 — Easy and quick process

*2025-09-05, version 70.0.305*

Easy process and received money for books

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-06-07, version 70.0.305*

Sold my iPad and got exactly what quoted. Thank you.

### 5/5 — 10 out of 10

*2025-03-05, version 70.0.305*

I have sold many devices and bought many on music over the years 10 out of 10

### 5/5 — Great service

*2024-12-01, version 70.0.305*

I use this app to buy almost all of my DVDs. There are some great deals for media items on here and they rarely have faults, and when they do it is always sorted. They are also quick to deliver usually arriving within 3-4 days. The app can be a bit difficult to use, but it’s fine when you get use to it. I would highly recommend this app for any home media collectors.

### 5/5 — A proud Stockport lad...

*2020-02-10*

I had been buying my DVDs from musicMagpie for a while before I found out they are based in the town of my birth, wonderful Stockport (so good they named it once...). I have bought single DVDs and box sets without ever finding any problems when playing them. musicMagpie state that they rigorously check that DVDs they sell are watchable, I have always bought DVDs that musicMagpie rate as good or very good and have never been disappointed. I doubt I would ever sell to musicMagpie having read how little they pay for things people want to sell to them, but I usually sell unwanted tech and DVDs to friends who agree to pay a price that I am really happy with! The speed which musicMagpie have always gotten my DVDs to me once I have paid for them has always left me completely satisfied. I cannot think of one criticism that I think musicMagpie deserves and this app is destined to get plenty of use... (P.S, Someone born in Stockport like I was is called a “Stopfordian”).

😊👍👍👍👍👍++

### 5/5 — Works like a dream

*2015-10-05*

Great functionality; I managed to sign up for the service, add all my stuff and complete the order right from within the app. I only went to the website to add my bank details (so I could check the security certificate) and to read the T&Cs in full on a bigger screen.

I piled everything up with barcode a facing up and pretty much just held my pone camera in one place (or only moving slightly for different placement) and after focusing it just picked up the barcode in about 95% of cases. When it came up with a 'can't recognise the barcode' error, I just let it try two or three times more and it found them no problem.

Worked like a dream, I have lots of empty space in my living room and a nice chunk of money heading to my bank account. Easy!

### 5/5 — Stop moaning!

*2014-03-30*

I buy huge cd collections, import them to iTunes then list the best on eBay but end up with a lot of dead stock. Thought I'd never shift them but thanks to these I've shifted the lot and made £700 in the process. Who'd want to buy Romanian Christmas Carols? They offered me £3 for it! The whole process takes about 3 weeks so if your in a rush for your money than don't use them. Your Robbie Williams CDs will only fetch 25p but it seems the odder the title the better price you'll receive. Mainstream chart stuff is worthless so don't expect big bucks for it. Just popped another order in for £135 for duplicated dead stock for about 335 CDs that I know nobody would really want to buy. If your emotionally attached to your cd collection then don't use this service. If you want a quick turnaround like myself for your CDs than I highly recommend using this service.

### 5/5 — Very good app - easy to use

*2012-12-23*

Used Music Magpie since it was first launched (a few years ago) and never had any issues with them.

The App
Works as well as the normal website does - encountered 0 issues so far

Music Magpie (themselves)
Always found them reliable, a couple of pointers for people new to the service

- it takes a long time to process your 'order' as it takes a while to get to them through the postal or courier service, once received they then test each item and assess the packaging before they pay out. It is a free postal service when sending your box(es) to them.
- always asked for payment by cheque again this takes a while as well (because again it's posted out) and then to clear at your bank. Although they have launched a new bank transfer system.
- I would suggest people taking their parcel to either their local post office or local Collect+ place (usually your local shop they list all your local ones when you place your order) My personal rule is I don't wait for a courier to collect anything from me because it's more hassle than it's worth.

I would not recommend using MM's service if you want a lot of money for your unwanted items and/ or not able to wait a few weeks for your money.
