### 2/5 — Same info always - takes ages to release new issues

*2016-09-17, version 4.9.89*

Not sure if this is part of Future, but you can see they don't spend much time on it, or rather they out their energy on the wrong subjects to release their specials. For the past 3 years you get the same... Learn logic, learn live, the only thing they change is the number of the year. Nothing about other techniques, or daws. In addition, they take ages to release a new issue of the same, again, when it is not logic it's live. I haven't seen an issue on cubase in years. Boring magazine and expensive for what you get.

### 2/5 — Seriously needs update

*2012-04-17, version 4.1.7*

When the app works well and the magazine looks super on the iPad.

Right now, the magazines are black and don't show up.

I downloaded the app to get the Native Instruments issue of Music Tech. There isn't much N.I. literature out there. It seemed like 70% of the magazine was simply describing the product, which is fairly useless for people who already own it. I didn't want a brochure, I wanted tips, suggestions and tutorials. I would imagine that most people buying the mag own a version of the product already and don't need sub-beginner explanations of what it does.

The Masterclass magazines from Music Tech are much better. Although there are millions of ads, there is more content and useful suggestions.

### 3/5 — On the iPad: nice! On the iPhone: uh...

*2011-11-22, version 4.1.1*

The iPad version of this app works great! However, on the iPhone, this app looks like it wasn't even designed with pre-Retina Display iPhones. The rendering quality is so poor that I can't read a thing.
Aside from that, there also seems to be an issue with registering an account right now (tells me to check my Internet connection as I'm downloading my free issue without a problem), which makes it difficult to invest in any more issues because I don't know if they'll be restorable purchases. All in all, the app has potential, but has to address some fundamental problems first.
The magazine, however, is Grade-A information. If you have an iPad, get it for the "free" issue (you pay for the app, right?); get more after they fix the app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terribly written app, good content

*2018-10-06, version 6.0.0*

This app still doesn’t support Pro iPads which is not good considering what this is, a magazine reading app.

It is full of bugs, has some really bad UI (clearly not written by someone who has read the Apple Human Interface Guidelines) and is buggy too.

I know a lot of digital magazines use the same toolkit, which is a real shame since those toolkits are very poor quality.

### 1/5 — Love the app & material, but...

*2015-12-25, version 4.9.89*

Have to give it one star until they update The app and make the most recent issues available. Why else would I subscribe? The new music tech focus has been out for a couple of weeks now and still not available on the app. What's the deal?

### 1/5 — Just a pdf

*2014-09-04, version 4.9.54*

This is just a converted pdf, too small to read comfortably on the ipad. i am constantly zooming and panning. i generally like the info provided but cant stand reading it on the ipad

### 1/5 — Bad update

*2014-06-11, version 4.9.54*

Well, this update simply doesn't work. Trying to restore my older purchases crashes the app, as does trying to even open the options (this after trying to reset things by deleting and reinstalling the app a number of times).
Great magazine, terrible app...

### 1/5 — Really bad!

*2012-09-30, version 4.2.5*

This app doesn't work. I would give it zero stars at all.

### 1/5 — App Won't Even Open

*2012-05-05, version 4.1.7*

Need I say more?

### 1/5 — Come on..

*2012-05-05, version 4.1.7*

This is getting so bad. Give me my $20 back or fix this!!!! This is really poor service!

### 1/5 — Magazine doesn't work.

*2012-05-03, version 4.1.7*

I just purchased 5 old issue bundle and the magazine just crashed. Now it doesn't even open up. Should've read the reviews... come on fix this crash issue. Even tried reinstalling the magazine.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work since update

*2012-04-21, version 4.1.7*

Never really noticed a resolution problem on iPhone 4, maybe my eyesight is just bad, but ever since I updated I can't read the issues I bought. It just comes up on a black screen. This really needs to be fixed ASAP

### 1/5 — Garbage! Such a mess of an app

*2011-10-28, version 3.1.3*

The resolution of the purchased issues is so low that I literally cannot read the thing- the pixels are larger than he actual letters of text. Plus, its super slow and always thinks I'm trying to buy something each time I open or close it. Worst app I've use yet.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Music tech focus

*2015-02-09, version 4.9.25*

By far best music producing mag. Great Ableton articles but also their hardware and virtual instruments, VST's reviews always interesting and in general spot on.!!!
Great magazine

### 5/5 — Awesome Mag

*2014-10-07, version 4.9.54*

The content provided in these mags is nothing short of excellent. All of the information is useable immediately. I can't think of a better way to stay current on music tech.

### 5/5 — Very useful!

*2013-09-14, version 4.9.25*

This mag is very useful for want ever DAW you use.

### 4/5 — Great mag!

*2017-06-18, version 4.9.101*

It might be one of the best music technology magazines I've had in a long time. Very informative and very easy to read.

### 4/5 — Great Information- bargain price

*2016-03-12, version 4.9.89*

I ALWAYS learn something new and worthwhile from each issue. The "import" newsstand price here in the US is roughly 4-5 times the price of the iPad version. Good deal!!

### 4/5 — Good Content

*2013-04-11, version 4.9.9*

Never had a problem. CD content should be downloadable within magazine or a separate area.

### 4/5 — Good magazines but...

*2013-02-26, version 4.9.9*

You need to be able to download the bonus cd online, you shouldn't pay the same price for no cd.

### 4/5 — Lots of content but not very deep.

*2013-02-07, version 4.9.4*

The months that contain the software that I use are very good but I don't need most months because they're either about software that I don't have or on subject matter that I don't need. Also they're very expensive, not compare to the print version but still pretty expensive for a magazine.

### 3/5 — Needs More Focus

*2013-04-28, version 4.9.9*

The app works fine, no issues. This review is for the magazine itself. The subject matter is usually well chosen to my liking attracting me to purchase the articles. It seems like I am usually disappointed with the article depth. My understanding is that this mag should be for a more in depth look at techniques. If all the articles are going to consist of 101 content depth such as putting new strings on your guitar and tuning your instrument between takes this mag should be renamed to Musictech 101 and priced accordingly. I will probably continue to purchase select issues as I can usually get one useful tip out of it.

### 3/5 — Support is horrible thank god the content is worth it

*2013-02-04, version 4.9.4*

So I've had this app for the past month and bought the logic volume 3. Well today it decided to stop working. Reset the app, ipad and still no luck. Was it too much to request this in a format that wasn't reliant on The Internet? I've bought every mtf magazine in the past few years and decided to try this version. It's awesome when it works but stinks when you can't even open the issue.

They need to sort this out.
