### 5/5 — Wonderful Resource

*2014-02-07*

As a band director, this app is a great asset for score study. The definitions are spot on. The search function makes it easier to navigate than my physical musical dictionary. Would recommend to others.

### 5/5 — Learning to Read Music

*2013-01-11*

This App has been great. I'm learning to read music after singing in choirs for 25 years and this is so helpful to answer questions quickly when I am in rehearsal.

### 5/5 — Excellent

I'm a string player, music major in college and this app is excellent. It has everything. Very complete and helpful. I love it and I'd recommend it to musicians of all ages.

I bought Music Tools because I need a good music dictionary. This program has a super dictionary and much, much more. I'm very pleased with Music Tools. Hopefully, you will be, too.

### 5/5 — Best

*2012-05-16, version 1.5*

Best one of its kind out there

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2012-05-04*

Definately worth the money. Enough terms here to last you a long time. I especially liked the shortcuts linking dynamics, abreviations, etc. to their associted terms.

### 5/5 — Superb!

*2012-04-13*

Thanks for a truly helpful app for a string trio player. I have had it for an hour and have already used it several times. I will definitely be recommending it to others.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2012-04-03, version 1.5*

It contains all the music terms I need and MORE! Definitely worth 2.99!!!

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2012-03-15, version 1.4*

This app is very nice. I would recommend it to every musician.

### 5/5 — Amazingly helpful

*2012-03-12*

I always find myself having to look up terms that I'm sure I knew at one point and this app makes that so easy. The only thing that I've had a problem with is when in reference charts, hitting back takes you back two screens rather than to where you were. Otherwise, pretty much perfect!

### 5/5 — Very Useful

*2012-02-02*

Music Tools has been helpful to me as a music teacher. I recommend it.

### 5/5 — The Best Music Dictionary

*2012-01-26*

I have been a professional organist for over 30 years. Even with a Masters in Music, I still need a good music dictionary for reference. This has to be the best music dictionary app on the market today. Keep up the good work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No abbreviations

*2023-04-20*

Unless they are hidden somewhere, if musical notes abbreviations are not included, I will ask for a refund.

**Developer response:** Sorry you are having trouble. To access the Abbreviations, tap on "Charts" on the bottom tool bar. Abbreviations are the first chart in the list.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2021-08-10*

Purchased to have easy access but MANY musical terms are not included and the ones that are are the most basic, rudimentary explanations I have come across. So not worth it

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, and also for the email you sent us regarding your disappointment before you posted this review. We did ask you to provide us the particular terms you would like added, but we've not heard back from you. We'd be happy to add whatever you think would make the dictionary more complete. Just email support@onstagetechnologies.com

### 4/5 — Good, but the search engine could use some upgrades

*2019-08-06*

Not all the words in the dictionary come up by entering the word. For example più does not appear unless you know to add the accent. Meno won’t appear; you have to stop at men , then scroll down through the filtered list. But then you can’t get rid of the keyboard so you can scroll to the bottom of the filtered list.

### 4/5 — M

*2017-04-17*

A much appreciated update for iOS 10; this app is awesome. Thank you!

### 4/5 — Very good!

*2012-06-11, version 1.6*

I like this app I'm excited for it to help me in college. I wish certain parts were more detailed though, like 3/4 and others just to explain different times, I know different ones but a definition is always nice.also when pressing back key in "reference charts" > "symbols" and you are in a topic and you hit the back key it takes you straight back to reference charts. Fixable? It would also be nice to have more about percussion. I already own the drum library but again definitions for things are always nice. I recommend this for anyone into music!!

### 4/5 — Useful; some minor issues

*2012-02-09*

Hitting 'back' in Reference sends you back two pages instead of one. It also needs a list of time signatures rather than just a listing of types. Otherwise, it's pretty nice.

### 4/5 — Good App.

*2010-08-23*

This application answered some questions I hand about writing and reading music. I found the terms to be helpful, especially those relating to tempo. I'd recommend this application and found it to be well worth the money.

### 4/5 — Excellent tool

*2010-08-15*

A comprehensive encyclopaedia of musical terms. I am doing grade 2 piano at the moment and this is great for looking at when not at the piano.

### 5/5 — Great tool to work with

*2024-01-22*

The perfect tool for any musician level. It’s like taking a class in music understanding and definition.

### 5/5 — Music Tools Dictionary

*2023-05-17*

Comprehensive. Great reference tool. Very flexible metronome

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2021-11-16, version 2021.1*

I am not very music trained. I find the definitions very helpful. Thanks so much for this app, which I always have available on my iPhone.

### 5/5 — Brilliant update that was sorely needed…

*2021-02-28*

Despite my last review criticising some of the images used being blurry and unclear, this app has still remained on my iPhone for almost 10 years.

I can finally say that it has definitely been improved and will be my primary music dictionary for hopefully another 10 years.

### 5/5 — Always keep handy!

*2018-06-01*

Great app!! Every musician should have this and keep it handy. I use daily when teaching and performing.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2015-02-20*

I wish it could be updated to support the newest iPhone resolutions though.

### 5/5 — What a great resource!

*2014-10-25*

I'm a music teacher and I need exact definitions for terms very regularly in order to plan my lessons and this app has quite quickly replaced my pocket dictionary other than the very specific things.

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2014-09-15*

As a classical pianist, I typically carry a separate pocket dictionary. With this app, I have all I need right on my phone. This app has a large Italian vocabulary and the definitions are quite accurate. Definitely worth 3 bucks!

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2014-03-07, version 1.7.0*

Has every musical term I have searched for
