## What is MVIII Workout & Daily Planner?

life lately:

6am routine. chin tucks, washing my face, a glute bridge, vitamin d. one list, and it runs the timed ones for me.

errands + reps. call the physio. pick up the kids. upper body after. the session sits on the same list as the rest of the day, in the order the day happens.

asked coach 8. my knees were caving on the last squat reps. it gave me a cue for the next set. then i asked it to put practice pickup on my day at 3:45, and it did. if i let it, it reads my sleep and recovery from Apple Health before it answers.

lunch out. it read the restaurant's real menu and built my order around the macros i had left.

Sunday reset. Three meals built for my numbers, good for three to four days in the fridge, one shopping list.

gym date. movements where the other person is the equipment, and rounds that only count when you both finish.

my stack. hormone therapy, peptides, meds, supplements tracker. One tap on my day logs it, under my own name for it. When I ask, it lines up what I ate between doses, and it stays on my phone.

cabo next week. i gave it the dates and what the hotel gym has. every workout inside the trip gets built for that kit.

bet accepted. The heaviest bench, most improved, by October 21. the loser sends a photo with the phrase we agreed on.

real progress. a physique scan against my last one. delts better since august.

WHAT IS UNDER ALL OF IT

Your week is the whole app. The session, what is left to eat, a fast if you are running one, and anything you wrote down yourself, on one list per day. A plus on every day takes a task, a routine, a walk, an AMRAP or an EMOM, a scan, a dinner out, or a week away. Anything placed repeats until you stop it. On your wrist, the same day and a Start button.

Ten goals, programmed separately: running, aesthetics, functional, HIIT, tactical, bodybuilding, powerlifting, sport, hybrid, and VO2 max, with two hard days a week, easy days around them, and a ramp for beginners.

PROGRAMMING THAT SHOWS ITS SOURCES

Every prescription traces to published research, and the app puts the papers in front of you. Sets, rest, progression, rate of loss, protein, how fast load may climb before your tendons catch up with your muscles. 201 studies, each attached to something the app actually does. Where the evidence is contested, MVIII says so.

IT ADAPTS TO THE BODY YOU HAVE

Excess skin after major weight loss, pelvic floor, prenatal, postpartum with diastasis, lipedema, a disability, training past 55. Tell it once, and it changes what gets programmed, on the free tier as well as the paid one.

FREE

Daily programming on seven goals, the planner and the month, routines, food logging, recipes, fasting, challenges and bets, your own progress photos, and the watch app. Not a trial. A tier.

PRO, $14.99 A MONTH

Coach 8, the Sport, Hybrid and VO2 Max goals, scan-built sessions, trips, meal planning, the full recipe library, the restaurant reader, photo logging, the scans, training with someone, Stack, and every movement explained.

There are no streaks to keep and no feed to scroll. Your progress photos and your Stack stay on your phone. Nothing here asks you to give up your life.

### 5/5 — Get this app!!!

*2026-07-27*

I absolutely love this workout app! It’s incredibly informative, and the face analysis feature is amazing. The facial workouts have really helped me understand how to improve and tone my face. I also love the postpartum workouts—they’ve been so helpful during my recovery. On top of that, the food recommendations and meal options are a great bonus. Overall, this app has everything I need, and I highly recommend it!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1.0 — 2026-10-13

The library grew from 678 movements to 1,575, and a session draws from the filmed ones first, so almost everything programmed comes with its clip.

Show Me sits first in the workout player's bottom bar, in orange. It opens the movement's video mid-set, without leaving the session. Free.

Cool-downs are built from filmed stretches: 88 holds and 38 moving drills. The clip plays under the clock. Free.

A warm-up row, such as Bench Press · Warm-Up Sets, shows its movement's clip. It used to open a web search.

The home has a first-run walkthrough. Six marks over the real controls, shown once.

Rate MVIII and Share MVIII are in Settings, The App.

### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-03

A Workout page. Today's session, one part at a time: the movements, the muscles they work, cardio, an estimated calorie burn, the warm-up, the cool-down, and the programming behind it. Tap a part to open it. Start Workout sits at the bottom.

Sets change in place, per movement or per muscle group. A set added to a muscle goes on the movement that works it hardest. Change Workout and Adjust Time sit at the top. Pro.

Cardio added on the Workout page goes at the end of the session and runs with it when Start is pressed. Free.

Warm-up drills can be taken out before it starts, and put back. Free.

The pages run Food, Muscles, Workout, Week, Day, Month, Progress. The week still opens first, unless another page is chosen under Opens on.

Every page ends on an orange button. Start a workout on the week, add a task on the day and the month, Log Food on Food, and scan under the muscles. Each one can be changed or turned off in Settings, The App, Bottom Button.

A finished day turns orange, on the week and on the month.

Water is logged inside Log Food. Three pours, any amount, and Undo. It follows the day being logged to. Free.

Log Food stays open for the next item. After a barcode scan, the camera comes straight back, so a meal goes in without starting over. Free.

Stack logs to an earlier day. Pro.

### 1.9.0 — 2026-09-29

Nutrition goes past four numbers. Fiber, sodium, sugars and the rest of a food's label add up across the day, each beside the Daily Value printed on the package, and the day says how many of its foods had a label. Photo logging and Coach 8 carry it too, from the food database and your own logs, never from a guess. Free.

Nutrition labels are read by the camera, on the phone. The photo is never sent. Anything the camera missed or had to guess is marked to check. When a barcode found nothing, reading its label saves the food, and that barcode finds it from then on. Free.

Your own foods. Written down once, per serving, from Quick Add or with the whole label, and first in the list from then on. Free.

A meal you ate can be saved from the Food tab and logged again in one tap. Free.

Warm-up sets before the first barbell lift. A light set, then five at about 80% of the day's working weight, with the plates shown. One set on sessions of 30 minutes or less. A max test climbs the published testing ladder instead. The watch plays the same sets.

A workout another app records in Apple Health, a Garmin or Strava run, shows on the day it happened. It moves that day's calorie target too, the same way an MVIII session does, and the day says so.

Sets per muscle sit under the figure for the day, and for the whole week on Bodybuilding.

Sign in with Google, beside Sign in with Apple.

The week moves like water. Days trail a scroll and make room for each other when one opens.

Coach 8's mark is back in the workout player's header, one tap away all session. The line Coach 8 says as a workout starts is shorter, and tapping it asks a question. Coach 8 is Pro.

"Your plan changed" rebuilds the week again. Distance units have their own card in Settings.

Fixes. Open Food Facts foods could only be logged in grams. Named portions and "half a cup" work in the amount sheet. A run the same length as that day's lift was read as the same session. A fast ended by hand stays ended. "Any" in Adjust means no time limit. Clearing a setting clears it. A late weigh-in is filed on its own day. Today's lunch shows in Recent at dinner. A barbell row is no longer treated as a rowing machine. A walk started on the watch keeps its calories and heart rate. Resuming a workout opens on the next set, not the one just logged.

### 1.8.0 — 2026-09-25

Stack, in Pro. Shots, pills, and supplements are logged from the day in one tap, under names you choose, filed as hormone therapy, peptides, medication, or supplements. Something taken daily is logged once, as started. Show patterns lines up your own logged food, weight, measured lean mass, and training with each dose. Coach 8 reads it back only when asked, and never suggests changing anything you take. It stays on the phone: never uploaded, never in a backup. On iOS 26, doses logged in Apple Health's Medications come in too.

VO2 Max is a goal now. Two hard days a week, four bouts of four minutes, easy days around them, and a ramp of easy running before a beginner gets either. Effort is described as a feeling, never a heart rate zone. Pro.

Coach 8 reads Apple Health, with your permission: last night's sleep, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability against your own month, steps, workouts other apps recorded, and your watch's VO2 max as a trend. The heart rate your watch measures during a session is kept with the session.

Routines. A morning is chin tucks, then washing your face, then a glute bridge, and one list holds all of it. A facial scan's drills arrive as a routine you can edit.

Anything placed on a day repeats without running out, and can be stopped from any day onward in one go. Its hour can be changed after it is placed. A group workout set for every Saturday stays set.

Search, at the top of How To and at the top of Settings.

Setup asks for what it needs. Equipment and height are in Settings, a first goal fills the week without a restart, and a week with no days picked starts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The tab layout is gone. Anyone who uses it opens the muscle map.

The full recipe library, a week away, and the VO2 Max goal are part of Pro. Your own recipes and the ones that ship with the app stay free.

Support is in Settings, under Account.

Fixes. Apple Health forgot it was connected each time Settings opened. A run day with a plank at the end reached Health as a walk. How to send people to buttons that had moved, and said the facial scan blurs your face. It does not. A failed scan showed an error code.

### 1.7.1 — 2026-09-20

Effort moves one thing now. The movement decides which one.

A set reported at your limit holds its load. It does not climb. A set reported
easy moves a single lever instead: load on a top set, reps on accessory work,
rest on a conditioning piece, whichever one that movement is actually for. The
old dial is gone. It added a rep to everything. Plyometrics and sprints never
take load.

The rating is asked while the set it rates is still on screen, and only where
the answer changes what comes next.

A home gym that has run out of iron now gets rep climbs, an extra set and slower
eccentrics instead of weight it does not own.

A short clock stopped taking the same thing every time. Core was cut from 274
sessions out of 396. It is 189 now.

Thirty-three movements. Eight rewritten cues, nine conditioning entries, seven
warm-up drills.

Music from Apple Music plays from a mark on the screen you are already on. It
never takes over what is already playing. Nothing about what you play leaves
your phone.

Fixes. The How To screen had the two ways of training with someone the wrong way
round. Coach 8 could offer a study for a subject the app holds no research on.
