## What is MVIII?

WORKOUT PLANNED. ALREADY LOGGED.

Every other training app opens on a blank screen and asks what you want to do. MVIII decides first. Open it and the day is already written: the session, the macros, and if you are eating out, the order.

The deciding was the part that cost you the evening. You still go to dinner. Nothing was given up for this.

DAILY WOD · Your session is built for your goal, your sport, your injuries, and the equipment you actually have. A guided player counts your sets and times your rest. Change the session, and it takes note: a movement you add comes back on the days it fits, and one you keep removing gets you asked whether to stop programming it.

CARDIO · Runs and walks measure themselves. GPS counts the distance with the screen off, and the route stays on your phone, never uploaded. Log what the machine was set to- incline, resistance, or watts- so there is something to beat. A walk is a session, on the plan or not.

FOOD, DECIDED · Tell MVIII the macros you have left and it builds a day of meals around the foods you like and none you cannot stand. A cook once prep comes with the shopping list. A snack comes when you say what you are craving. Or log your own by search, barcode, or photo.

DINE OUT · Name the restaurant and MVIII finds their real menu, or reads a photo of the one in your hands, then writes an order off it that lands on the macros you have left, with what to ask for. This is the part nothing else does.

WHILE YOU TRAIN · On the first exercise, MVIII asks one question: do you want your food sorted by the time you finish? Pick a day of meals, a prep, or a restaurant order, then put the phone down. It waits until you rack the last set.

MAXXING SCANS · Point the camera. The physique scan highlights weaknesses and symmetry issues. The posture scan maps your alignment. The facial scan ranks the changes worth making, biggest return first, and never scores your face. What they find reaches the workout generator, so a lagging calf change on Thursday happens without you filing a request.

COACH 8 · Speaks first about your week, out loud if you want it.

HANDS FREE · Switch on the microphone and MVIII calls the session out: each movement, the reps, the weight, and which set is next. Say "reps twelve", "skip rest", "undo". Speech is recognized on your iPhone. Nothing is recorded or sent.

TARGETS THAT LEARN · Every calorie formula is a population average with a wide error bar. MVIII corrects yours from what you have actually eaten against what you have actually weighed. Hard days get more carbohydrate, rest days get less, and protein stays the same.

FREE IS A FULL TRAINING APP
A workout every day on a four week program. The food log, with barcode, search, and water. Every meal you have ever logged, no cutoff. The fasting timer. Custom alerts, weight, personal records, your training log, and Apple Health both ways. No card, no clock, no nagging. It stays free.

MVIII PRO adds the parts written for you: workout generation and customization within a time budget, meal planning, meal prep, snacks, restaurant orders, food photo logging, and scans.

THE NAME · MVIII is said "M-eight". M is a thousand days VIII is today's work.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN · Posture photos are face blurred on device before they are saved. Physique and facial photos are analyzed and discarded immediately, never stored. No analytics trackers. No ads. Sign in with Apple: no sign-up form, no password to invent.

MVIII PRO · $14.99/month, auto-renewing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon purchase confirmation. Your subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.

### 5/5 — Get this app!!!

*2026-07-27*

I absolutely love this workout app! It’s incredibly informative, and the face analysis feature is amazing. The facial workouts have really helped me understand how to improve and tone my face. I also love the postpartum workouts—they’ve been so helpful during my recovery. On top of that, the food recommendations and meal options are a great bonus. Overall, this app has everything I need, and I highly recommend it!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5.2 — 2026-08-31

The generator listens when you change your workout.

Add a movement to a session, and it comes back on the days it belongs on, without
you adding it again every week. Take one out twice, and you get asked once
whether to stop programming it. Nothing leaves your training because a counter
reached two.

Movements you skipped stay skipped. If you told the app to stop programming
something, the workouts written for you now honor it. They did not before, which
meant the tier paying for written-for-you workouts was the tier getting its
skipped movements handed back.

The muscle figure follows the session on the sheet. Drop the only pressing
movement and the chest goes dark. Add a curl and the biceps light up.

Your facial scan is a report, not a list. It opens on the one change with the
most visible return and ranks everything under it. Eleven areas instead of six.
Every tip says whether it shows in days, weeks, or months. Still no score, and
still nothing rating your face against anybody.

Coach 8 stopped asking why you missed. Thirty-six studies say a person talking
about why they are not doing something predicts them not doing it, while talking
about doing it predicts nothing on its own. So the most sympathetic question in
coaching is the one that works against you. It asks what you want to be able to
do, and what the next session is.

Cardio counts for something.

Runs and walks measure themselves. Turn on GPS and MVIII counts the distance
while you go, keeps counting with the screen off, and starts looking for you
before you set off so a short walk is measured from the first step. Your route
stays on your phone and is never uploaded.

Log what the machine was set to: incline, resistance, watts. A minute on the bike
used to log the same flat out or freewheeling, so there was nothing to beat.

Log a walk or a run whenever you did one. It does not have to be on your plan to
count. And if you told us you are a beginner, a walk is now a session, where your
bodyweight cardio used to be sprints and burpees.

Your training reaches Health as it was. A walk is arriving as strength
training. A walk is a walk now, a run is a run, a ruck is a hike. Sessions logged
in another app count here too, and calories are priced from a published value for
that exact activity rather than the label the session carried.

Coach 8 speaks first, about your week and nobody else's, and out loud in real
recorded speech. Tap what it says, and your answer will already be started.

Reminders name the session rather than announce that one exists. There is an
evening one for a day with no food logged, and it never arrives on a day there
is. You get asked about all of it once, after a workout.

The camera is on every screen, behind the mark in the corner. Shoot your day, the
session you just finished, or your food log.

Stillness: a timer for sitting still and doing nothing else, ten seconds longer
every time. Thirty seconds is harder than it sounds.

You decide how fast you lose weight. The app used to cap your cut and quietly
work your calories out at the cap. It now shows what the research supports for
someone your size and uses the number you picked, never below 1,400 a day.

Every number has its paper. Ten published specifications, every prescription
graded, and the strongest entries are the ones that deflate something.

Also: personal records kept as they happen, and your goal announced on the set
that got you there.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-23

Meet Eight, your coach.

Eight knows everything you’ve logged and understands the research your program is based on.
It only uses this information. You can ask why your rest is set that way, if you’re on track,
what to change, or what to do if the gym is crowded. You can ask in the middle of a set without
leaving your workout, or even out loud while your hands are on the bar.

Eight can suggest changes to your goal, your workout split, your training days, or your
equipment. Each suggestion comes as a card that shows exactly what changes and how it affects your numbers.
Nothing is saved until you tap Apply. Eight never sets
your calories or macros for you. Those still come from your goal.

Also new:

You can now choose Bodybuilding and Powerlifting as training goals, each programmed from two
published research specifications. Each plan shows its evidence grade,
and you can tap to see the studies behind it.

You can choose your priority muscles and set your weekly volume, as long as it’s within the range supported by research.
research supports.

There’s also a plate calculator. You can ask what to load for any weight, on any bar, even during a workout.
inside a workout.

You’ll get technique tips for any movement, including what you should feel and what often goes wrong.
wrong.

We’ve fixed a few things: Powerlifting sessions built through the Pro path were missing their percentage
overlay, deload days sometimes prescribed work they shouldn’t have, the weekly volume
readout counted movements that had been trimmed for time, and lateral raises
were being credited to your back instead of your shoulders.

PRO IS NOW $14.99 A MONTH

Half what it was. Same everything. If you are already subscribed, your price
drops at your next renewal without you doing anything.

WHILE YOU TRAIN

On the first exercise of a session, MVIII asks one question: do you want your
food sorted by the time you finish? Choose a day of meals, a cook once prep, or
an order from a restaurant, and it gets on with it while you train.

The timing is the whole idea. Reading a real menu takes a minute or two, and a
workout is the one stretch where your phone is already out and you are not
waiting on it. Name the restaurant and the city, put the phone down, and the
order is there on your summary when you rack the last set.

It is also built against the right numbers. The order is written for the macros
this session is about to earn you, not the ones you had sitting still.

You are asked once, on the first exercise, and never again that session. Say Not
Now and it does not come back.

YOUR MEAL PLAN STAYS PUT

A plan you built used to vanish the moment you closed the sheet, and building
it again cost you another generation. Now it persists. Today's plan sits on the
Food tab without a tap, and one tap logs a meal from it.

Plans also stopped being one-at-a-time. A day of meals and a cook-once prep
answer different questions, so both can exist. A new Planned section groups
them by the day they are for, labels them by kind, and gives you Log It on any
meal and Remove on any plan. Prep has a permanent button in the header instead
of a banner that eventually decides it is no longer news.

Meal prep now returns the ingredients, so the shopping list finally exists.

Snacks can be asked for by craving. Food can be logged to a day that has
already passed.

CARRIES ARE TIMED

A carry is time under load. Prescribing "400m" assumed a measured route that
nobody training in a garage or a hotel corridor has, so the same number meant
four different efforts to four different people. Carries are now a clock. Load
still records, distance still records and says it is optional, and two carries
at the same load for the same time rank by ground covered.

PACE THAT NAMES THE RIGHT DIRECTION

A row done on a bench was inheriting the bench press's words and telling you to
press. A pulldown was being given the pull-up's verbs, so it named one
direction twice. "Pull Down" as two words matched nothing at all. And a carry
read PACE "Hold" when you are, in fact, walking. All four now read correctly.

MENUS ARE REMEMBERED

A restaurant menu already read is kept on your phone, so looking at it again
costs nothing and returns instantly.

FIXES

- Reservation reminders have never fired for anyone. They do now.
- Today's meal plan could go missing depending on your timezone, and an evening
rebuild could stack a second copy of the day instead of replacing it.
- The screen could sleep in the middle of a workout after a carry or a run.
- Finish could be tapped twice, which wrote one session into Apple Health as
  two overlapping workouts.
- Saying "done" on the workout summary logged a set you had not performed.
- A training goal's target date could land a day early or late depending on
  where you are.
- Running out of daily generations now says so, instead of looking like a
failure and telling you to try again.

HANDS-FREE TRAINING
Turn on Hands-Free in Settings and a microphone appears at the top right of every screen. Tap it and MVIII calls your session out to you: each new movement, where you are in the workout, the reps, the weight to use, and the pace. When a rest ends it tells you which set is next. The last five seconds of every timer are counted out loud.
Log without looking. Say "reps twelve", "weight forty", "skip rest", "undo". Ask it anything on the screen: "what's the exercise", "how many", "how much weight", "what's the pace", "instructions". Heard enough? Say "got it" and it goes quiet for the rest of the session.
Speech is recognized entirely on your iPhone. Nothing is recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, and the whole thing stays off until you turn it on.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-03

Your whole food log, forever. Free. Plus a new look and light mode.

NEW, FREE FOR EVERYONE
• Food history. Every meal you have ever logged, with no cutoff, plus a count
of the foods you eat most often. Built for anyone tracking how food actually
  makes them feel.
• Warm-ups and cool-downs that run themselves. Built from the movements in
that day's session, with a clock on every drill, the cues on screen while it
counts, and it moves on when the time is up.
• Milestones. Sessions finished, weeks trained, weight moved, movements
  learned. No streaks to break.
• Personal records, the moment you hit them. Beat your best on a lift and
MVIII tells you while you are still standing over the bar.
• A walkthrough on every screen. Tap the ? in any corner, any time.
• Tap any exercise in your plan for how to do it, how it should feel, and what
  to watch for.

YOUR NUMBERS, FROM YOUR NUMBERS
• Your calorie target now learns. MVIII compares what you have actually eaten
against what you have actually weighed, and corrects your maintenance from
your own history instead of trusting a formula built on averages.
• Training days and rest days stop looking the same. Hard days get more carbs,
rest days get fewer, and the week adds up the same. Protein does not move,
because the daily total is what builds muscle, not the timing.

NEW TRAINING STYLES
• HIIT. Short, hard intervals with conditioning first.
• Tactical. Military, law enforcement and fire prep: carries, rucks, and work
  capacity.

A NEW LOOK
• A new app icon, and the mark now runs through the whole app.
• Every measured number, calories, grams, clocks, loads, scores, is set in a
monospaced face. They are readings taken off your own log, and they finally
  read like it.
• One thing is orange on any screen: the thing to do next. Green means
  finished.
• Today leads with your session instead of the word "today". The muscle map is
the size it should always have been, and the day's numbers sit in one line
  underneath it.

LIGHT MODE
• MVIII follows your phone. Or choose Light or Dark yourself in Settings,
under Appearance, for the gym that is darker or brighter than your phone
  thinks it is.

FASTER
• The app opens on what you asked for. It used to load all five tabs before
you had touched anything; now each screen fetches when you open it.
• Your week is drawn the moment you open Plan. Every day shows what it is,
rest or train, push or pull, with no waiting. The session is written when
you open a day, so nothing is built for a day you never look at.

FOR PRO MEMBERS
• Tell MVIII how long you actually have. Fifteen minutes to ninety, rest
included. A short session is a real session, not a compromise. Set your
usual day in Settings, or change just today from Adjust.
• Meal Prep. Cook once, eat all week. Three or four ingredients per dish, and
the dishes share a shopping list on purpose.
• Snacks. A no-cook list that suits how you eat, not a calculation. Nothing
that needs a stove, a pan, or a plate.

FIXED
• Workouts landing on the wrong day when you travel abroad.
• Food search finds plain food again. Search a sweet potato and you get a
sweet potato, not a restaurant side dish.
• Log a portion, not a guess. Pick "1 medium" or "1 container" and MVIII knows
  what it weighs.
• Photo logging takes a description. Tell it "93% lean ground beef" and it
  stops guessing turkey.
• A day you asked for one workout could end up with two.
• Your training history stopped loading once you had a few hundred sessions
  behind you.
• Leave the app open overnight and it shows today when you come back, not
  yesterday.

Free is still a full training app: a program built for your goal and
equipment, food logging with barcode scanning, unlimited food history, water,
fasting, weight, reminders, and Apple Health.
