One touch of an icon on your smartphone or tablet enables control of your entertainment plus smart home devices. Check your security system, turn on pre-set lights, start the music and settle into movie night in a way you never thought possible. The MX HomePro app works with the URC MX HomePro system. The app requires the MX HomePro Smart Hub for operation. MX HomePro systems are installed and maintained by a network of trained systems integration professionals. A unique “app launching” feature lets you launch any of eight other apps from a scrolling ribbon. Incorporate almost any app – including the native app for smart devices. You can even incorporate your favorite social media apps onto the scrolling ribbon for quick access. For example, if you already have a security app to control your home security system, you can add that native app to the ribbon. Just get a physical remote…unless you want to be frustrated just simply clicking right…DO NOT GET THIS! ### 1/5 — (Still) Can’t recommend yet *2019-12-11* Updated review: Don’t bother going the URC route. Installer required...and they are as flaky as you’d expect. Changes to your system? You need a “professional” installer. Do yourself a favor (if it’s not too late) and go with the Harmony Elite remotes. This system is stuck in 1983. Look at the update history. It’s a joke, and it was an experiment gone wrong. They originally designed this to be installed by the homeowner, but they realized that their help desk would be flooded with calls, so they made it a professional install (again, professional installers are basically between jobs). Old Review: If you have more than four activities set up on the home screen, you can’t scroll down to see them. Until that is fixed, I can’t recommend this system or the app. Also, no sleep/timer functionality. Hold off for a few releases. This will be updated once the app is. ### 2/5 — Menu does not work with Apple TV 4K *2019-10-20* The menu function stopped working on Apple TV 4K. Power button works , and menu works with other streamers. Frustrating ### 2/5 — It worked for a year *2019-08-09* Worked great for a year but now it will not connect. It actually connects and I can change settings but the remote does not show up any more which is frustrating ### 5/5 — Great for AirBnB and guests too. *2018-08-30* When I let someone just download the app (you can make a QR code so they don’t even need to type) they can use my lights, fireplace, AV, Sonos, TV or Projector intuitively. We have it on iDevices and Android and it works great. Very cool. The installer can remotely update the system via the internet which is great as there were little changes I wanted in the beginning and it was no big deal or cost to polish the controls for how we live. They just logged in and made the changes and it was fixed before I got home. We also use the app launcher and it’s a favorites with everyone. ### 1/5 — Always an issue *2018-03-11* If it actually turns on what it’s supposed to the app times out and has to restart. At least 50% of the time I turn the volume up 1 or 2 touches of the button and the app goes out of control and turns the volume all the way up! Complete waste of $500. There has to be a better solution from a different company.
