My kids and I found the puzzles manageable, although the later levels were a little challenging if they had been doing them without adult help. The story itself was age appropriate even for younger children, and since it didn’t rely on reading text conversations they were able to follow along without too much trouble. The one thing we would have liked was some sort of hint mechanism, even if it were something like having to solve a separate puzzle to get one. There were two or three places where we needed to consult an online walkthrough, which always brings the risk of spoiling yourself on other parts of the game. However, after some reflection, I decided that wasn’t fair. I pre-ordered this game based on the eloquent description provided by Artifex Mundi. I thought it would be similar to their other HOAG, except much shorter and possibly geared toward younger players. This game was so misrepresented it infuriated me. Let’s see: no trial, cartoonish graphics, a confusing and useless tutorial, no hint system or skip button that I could notice, and then a couple of minutes in I reached the first mini-game. This game was where you connect the same colored gears with chains, one I have done many times with ease. I couldn’t even manipulate this puzzle; it just didn’t work! Needless to say I deleted the game immediately and will demand a refund on the App Store. However, the good news is that Artifex Mundi released Endless Fables 3: Dark Moor. The first two were terrific and this also looks like it will be lengthy as well. Don’t bother with this poor excuse for a game, but do download and play Dark Moor! Remember, Domini won’t port anything to iOS again until April 30. I even started over again and it happened again. Once I collected 3 pills it deleted one and I couldn’t “recollect “ objects I already found all of. So game over.
