### 3/5 — Not connected to my hospital team

*2023-10-03, version 4.7.0*

Although the app is free to users it is not free to Hospitals and my Team at Royal United Hospital Bath are not connected because it is too expensive apparently . I’m not sure what’s the point of continuing?

### 3/5 — Repeated logout issue makes app frustrating

*2022-11-03, version 4.5.1*

Repeatedly logs out between session, constantly need to enter password and re-register Touch ID

### 2/5 — Many missed opportunities

*2022-09-16, version 4.1.7*

If I knew how, I would create my own Crohn’s disease app.
You can log your bowel motions, but they are not saved, so you can’t do it long term.
You can’t log your food, and none of my local hospitals are signed up to it so I can’t contact my medical team through it. The mood tracker is good but I can think of a million ways it could be improved to be more useful for IBD sufferers.

### 2/5 — So so

*2021-12-25, version 4.0.3*

I guess if you really need to know the details of what is happening with your IBD and you can’t remember. Then this app is probably good for you.
You will get constant messages which you can’t delete.
Not for me I’m afraid.

### 2/5 — Last update had made app very buggy

*2021-06-30, version 3.8.2*

The last update has made the app very buggy. You are now unable to input more than two bowel movements and the app takes longer to open and input data.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t open

*2021-02-21*

I can only see the first page, and then it closes instantly.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for reaching out. We are very sorry that you have experienced this issue! Please email us at info@ampersandhealth.co.uk if you are still experiencing this when opening the app. We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused you and we hope to resolve it for you as soon as possible. Thank you.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2021-02-16, version 3.2.8*

Downloaded but haven’t used your app before other than to create a password. Had an email today asking me to log in to the app to update my details and meds info. I tried a few times but it doesn’t let me in. I’ve updated the app and reset my password but it still crashes every time I login after typing my password. Please fix so I can find out why this app is so necessary in my life!

### 2/5 — Keeps crashing and can’t remove medication

*2021-02-13, version 3.2.8*

It was a really good app, it does help monitor symptoms etc but since the latest update it crashes or freezes regularly and I can’t remove my medication that I was on temporarily for reminders because it just crashes/freezes.

### 1/5 — Bad Request Error

*2021-01-16, version 3.2.6*

Unable to register. Application just errors ‘Bad Request’
 Very disappointing

### 1/5 — My IBP Appless

*2021-01-16, version 3.2.6*

Hi, this app looked so promising and spent a serious amount of time setting up thinking wow this could be great. However after spending the first evening putting all my data in, the app has never worked since. Day 1 all my medication data lost, Day 2 all I could do was enter bowel movements and see that days data, Day 3 and I cannot even access the app now. TIME TO DELETE!

### 2/5 — Could be more useful

*2021-01-05, version 3.2.6*

I was on the crohn’s and colitis website and it mentioned this. I was really wanting something to track my food diary and symptoms and show any links so I can manage my symptoms and flares, but this isn’t it. You record stool samples and it reminds you of appointments and that’s about it, apart from some videos which are fairly standard.

It’s very clearly to collect data which is fine and I’m happy to help but I just don’t see what someone with IBD gets from it if they remember their meds and appointments.

It’s a shame it’s such a missed tool for sufferers

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work for me

*2020-11-28, version 3.2.5*

Unfortunately I paid for an annual subscription before realising just how much the app doesn’t work for me. When I try to take a course, the app tells me to upgrade and when I watch videos there is no audio. Contacting ampersand for support does not get any response. £35 not well spent.

### 1/5 — Bad interface and not designed for device use

*2020-11-18, version 3.2.2*

I’ve been asked to use this app by my medical team in lieu of appointments during Covid. I’m not impressed with the app, it has been difficult to set up my personal information and input my medication correctly. It doesn’t seem to want to interact with my phone’s keyboard but won’t activate any drop down menu for me to select alternatives. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling to no avail, the app now crashes.

I will be forwarding this feedback to my medical team and Crohn’s and Colitis UK, as I have no faith in it for how I’ve been asked to use it. Maybe with some updates it will improve, but it really needs to be better thought out.

### 3/5 — So Jealous it Isn’t US Compatible

*2020-10-25*

This is an incredible app and seemed to offer everything I could want. Unfortunately, medicines don’t match up with the American versions/availability. If it is ever expanded to the pharmacology of the US I’ll be first in line for this tool! Without the pharmacology it doesn’t meet my needs.

### 2/5 — Can’t read messages

*2020-10-03, version 3.1.10*

I think that all the information this app collates is a great idea, but I cannot read the messages on it - there’s a character limit and you can’t ‘open’ them, so that part just doesn’t work.

I mentioned this in direct feedback months ago and it seems like a significant issue as I was told this app is now my primary means of communication with the NHS.

### 1/5 — Completely focussed on their own thing

*2020-06-05, version 3.1.8*

This app has potential, but it fails in execution. It's totally focussed on wanting you to do their structured activities, and the daily recording system is beyond vague. With a GI condition like this, I want to be able to record far more detail than just "did I eat healthily today"

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2026-05-28, version 6.0.1*

App doesn’t work. Have managed to register ok then added my username and password, clicked log-in, says ‘success!’ But doesn’t do anything

### 1/5 — Takes Forever to Update

*2025-08-21*

Even before the update it took forever for any of my bowel movements to be tracked and logged correctly. Now with the new flare tracker that fails to work, I can’t even attempt to log a bowel movement. It was difficult enough to wait forever (and I mean hours) for the app to load, now it’s completely useless to me.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear you experienced some technical difficulties with the app. We'd like to resolve this for you. Please send us an email at info@ampersandhealth.co.uk with your registered app email address and we can take it from there.

### 1/5 — Insights not working

*2025-02-01, version 5.0.1*

You can no longer access the insights/stats page. It is just constantly loading. This makes it a little bit pointless as you can’t see what you’ve logged. Please fix asap.

### 1/5 — UK only

*2023-11-16, version 4.7.1*

This is only for the UK so useless if you live anywhere else

### 1/5 — Crashing

*2023-10-08, version 4.7.0*

Keeps crashing everytime I open

### 1/5 — Poor

*2023-06-20, version 4.5.4*

I used to use this daily to Track my bowel movements then it just stopped working. I’ve used this app for about 2 years and just had problems after problems. Just shows how little help there is for IBD

### 1/5 — Need to be updated

*2023-06-15, version 4.5.3*

Every time I go into app on iPhone I have to delete and reinstall to be able to log in as
page either won’t allow fields to be filled. Only works on fingerprint access and not face recognition. Personally not sure why you’d spend time inputting so much day but that’s maybe just me.

### 1/5 — Slow and unresponsive

*2022-10-25, version 4.5.1*

Since last week the app has become slow and unresponsive. When you click to add a bowl movement sometimes doesn’t close and multiple clicks add more than one entry. When you click on stats option check entries your greeted by a long wait / donut timer. App constantly logs you out. You’ve taken an app that was just working ok tweaked it and made it useless, clearly zero user testing before implementation

### 1/5 — Deleted data

*2022-09-30, version 4.1.7*

This app is unusable for me now, cannot log any new medication and it’s lost a years worth of medication data that I can’t retrieve. I have contacted Ampersand but no one seems to be able to help me fix the problem. It’s useless when parts of it don’t work!! Not impressed!

### 1/5 — IBD App

*2021-10-11, version 3.8.5*

Can’t change or delete medications, it freezes. Never got reminded to take them or when appointments were. Found the stool tracker very useful but shame about the other features not working.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — An Insight to My Care

*2025-04-03, version 5.0.2*

Just some improvements around bugs and glitches. Being able to delete previous medications and edit when you started them (same with the appointment book).

I’ve made a couple mistakes and I would like to have the most accurate results on my app to help my team if the time was needed for them to access this information to help me but also to help me keep track of my very difficult condition.

Overall I truly appreciate the NHS taking their time to build an app for this community to help support them and keep track of their day to day developments. It means the world that we are being recognised!

### 5/5 — Highly Recommend

*2021-01-18, version 3.2.6*

I downloaded this app to track and manage my Crohn’s now that I am in remission. I log my well-being every day and use the tracking features provided. A really good way to keep track of things without any hassle, and an easy way to look back for any recurring patterns or trends in my health.

Would highly recommend for anyone who wants an easy to use app to keep track of their IBD.

### 5/5 — excellent app with real impact

*2020-08-25, version 3.1.10*

this has been a revelation in my experience of living with IBD. highly recommended for both those newly diagnosed with IBD and equally beneficial to those diagnosed decades ago. Practical effective information to help improve life with IBD. Easy to use.

### 5/5 — Essential

*2020-04-25, version 3.05*

Really useful for me. Thank you

### 5/5 — Great app!!

*2020-04-25*

HOLD ON! This app changed my life...

### 5/5 — Very helpful app

*2020-04-25*

Very helpful app in supporting my condition

### 5/5 — Awesome!! Finally a holistic approach

*2020-04-11*

This is a great app!! Have been using the app for a month and it’s been a game changer. A holistic digital approach that connects me to my hospital, coaches me on activities, and allows me to track my symptoms

### 5/5 — Really helpful

*2020-04-11, version 3.03*

The app has been vital in helping me with my crohn’s. It really helps me manage my medication and my general well being. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — The best around!

*2019-05-24, version 2.28*

This app has definitely changed how I think about managing my condition. It’s a tool that helps to really monitor and analysis trends in how I am feeling to ensure I get the support and care I need before anything major happens.
It really is a comfort to know that my results are being seen by my IBD team and it isn’t just a robot, it also allows you to have more freedom to ensure you don’t have any pointless trips to the hospital.
Plus you keep up to date with useful news stories of what is happening in the community.
Definitely an app to have and use if you suffer from Crohn’s or Colitis.

### 4/5 — Personally have found it useful!

*2023-10-01, version 4.7.0*

I found this app early on in my IBD journey shortly after a hospital admission for a flare-up and found it great to build my confidence and for understanding what my baseline symptoms were. Without this app I would have never joined the ampersand health community thus would have missed out on many wonderful zoom catch ups with others in similar situations as well as the staff and other resources they bring in to help support IBD, arthritis and dermatitis patients! Now that things are more settled for me I’m not using the app as much but I certainly do still enjoy connecting with the community even while being on the other side of the world to most of them. Highly recommend checking out this resource!!!
