## What is My IBD Tracker?

Living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis means paying attention to a lot of moving parts — what you ate, how you slept, where you were, how stressed you felt, and whether any of it seemed to matter. My IBD Tracker gives you one calm, organised place to capture all of it, and the tools to start spotting what's actually going on.

I built this app because I have ulcerative colitis and needed something that tracked the right things without getting in the way. Every feature comes from real experience of managing IBD day to day. Personally, I only log new meals, snacks or drinks rather than every single one — but the app supports whatever approach works for you, including saving favourites and quickly reusing recent entries.

What you can track
Bowel movements — stool consistency on the Bristol scale, urgency, and blood indication
Cramps — pain level (1–5), location (left, centre, right), and optional duration
Meals, snacks and drinks — with fully customisable trigger lists so you can flag whatever you suspect; define favourites and quickly reuse recent entries
Daily check-in — day type, location, stress level, energy level, and activity impact
Environmental signals (experimental) — optional barometric pressure and temperature capture, for investigating potential correlations with your symptoms
Sleep and heart rate (new) — Apple Health sleep duration, wake events, resting heart rate and HRV, pulled in automatically for extra context alongside your symptoms

On your Apple Watch
Log bowel movements and cramps from your wrist — quick, discreet, and synced straight back to the app.

How it helps you understand your data
History — every event for a day on one scrollable timeline, with your check-in summary at the top
Patterns — symptom trends across 7, 30 or 90 days, with active phase threshold line, energy and stress overlays, location-based pressure data, and now sleep and heart rate charts mapped against your active phases
Trigger breakdown — compare bowel movements and cramps by day type, location and food trigger — same day and next day
Reports — a clinical PDF covering bowel movements, cramps, stress, energy, an exploratory environmental signals section, and sleep analysis and heart metrics sections, ready to share with your consultant

Designed for real use
One-tap logging from the home screen — each tile shows your last entry and opens the log form
Apple Watch companion app for wrist logging on the go
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets — Quick Log and a Today's Summary widget showing your current status
Works without an internet connection
Fully customisable trigger lists, favourite meals and drinks, locations and day types
Active phase threshold you set yourself

I built this for myself first, with full control to customise trigger lists, defaults and categories to match real life. If something's missing, confusing, or could work better for you, I genuinely want to hear about it — this app grows from real feedback, not guesswork. And if it's helped you make sense of your IBD, a review means a lot and helps other people managing the same thing find it too.

A note on the experimental features
The environmental tracking (pressure and temperature) is based on reading research articles exploring possible links with IBD flares. Sleep and heart rate data from Apple Health are included for broader lifestyle and recovery context, not to assess health status or explain IBD activity. None of these are clinically established triggers, and each is clearly marked as exploratory throughout the app and in reports. Apple Health data is read for on-device analysis only — nothing is written back to Health. It's all there for you to investigate your own patterns — not to replace clinical advice.

Important
This app is intended solely as a personal tracking and communication aid. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency assessment. Always consult your clinical team about your symptoms and treatment.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-08-08

Free to try, yours to keep
Download free and use every feature for 7 days. After that, a single one-time payment of £1.99 unlocks the app for good — no subscription, no recurring charges, no ads. If you already bought the app previously, you're automatically unlocked at no extra cost.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-30

Your Apple Health sleep and heart rate data now feeds directly into your patterns and reports — completely privately, with nothing written back to Health.

Sleep patterns — sleep hours, wake count and a sleep quality score, charted against your active phases
Heart rate & HRV — daily resting heart rate and heart rate variability from Apple Health, laid out alongside your symptoms

### 1.2 — 2026-07-24

Apple Watch companion app
You can now log bowel movements and cramps directly from your wrist. Quick, discreet, and syncs straight back to the app.

Experimental environmental tracking
After reading research suggesting possible links between IBD flares and barometric pressure and temperature, I've added optional tracking of both. Enable them in Settings → Environment. The data appears on your home screen, in your patterns charts, and in a dedicated exploratory section of your PDF report. Everything is clearly marked as experimental — this is for your own investigation, not clinical guidance.

Active phase threshold on patterns
The active phase threshold now appears as a reference line directly on your patterns charts, so you can see at a glance when you were in or near an active phase. Set the threshold value in Settings.

Simplified settings
Settings is now a clean list — each category has its own page, making it easier to find what you need.

Simplified home screen
The home screen no longer duplicates logging and status. Each tile shows your last logged time and acts as a direct tap-to-log shortcut.

### 1.1 — 2026-07-08

This update is built around one thing I needed myself: something to bring to my IBD appointment that actually shows what the last few months have really been like.

NEW: SYMPTOM REPORTS
Generate a clean, clinical PDF summary of your bowel movements, cramps, stress and energy — covering up to a full year of data. Choose your date range and what to include, then share or print it before your next appointment. I built this because I was tired of trying to summarise months of symptoms from memory in a rushed ten-minute consultation — I hope it saves you that same scramble.

DAILY CHECK-IN REMINDER
A notification now nudges you to complete your daily check-in, so the gaps in your data are fewer and the patterns you see are more reliable.

REFRESHED LOOK AND FEEL
My IBD Tracker now shares a consistent design with the other apps in my suite — cleaner, calmer, and more polished throughout.

ADDITIONAL WIDGETS
View todays summary stats as a medium widget, or new large widget with both today's summary and log options.

This app started as something I built for myself, and it keeps improving because of people like you telling me what’s missing or what could work better. If you’ve got feedback, a suggestion, or something that’s frustrating you, please get in touch — I read every message. And if My IBD Tracker has genuinely helped you get a handle on your symptoms, a review helps more than you’d think, both for me and for the next person searching for something like this.

Thank you for using it.
