## What is My Music Alarm Clock?

My Music Alarm Clock is an alarm clock app to allow the user to wake up to their favorite Apple iPod songs, playlists or Internet streaming music. It allows the user to select the song, playlist, or streaming music they wish to use for the music alarm function. Playback can be over the IOS device, Bluetooth, or via AirPlay. A location bread crumbs feature is also included to track location if desired. Current temperature can also be displayed, based on location. The app also has the option to speak the time when an alarm goes off.

A companion Apple Watch app is also included that supports showing current alarm time, enabling the alarm feature, snoozing a current sounding alarm, and turning off a current sounding alarm.

Alarm data is stored in the Apple Cloud system and can be shared across iOS devices on the same AppleID. Each user can select whether they accept Cloud alarm updates, whether the master alarm on/off can be updated via the cloud, and those other iOS devices from which they will accept cloud alarm updates.

Multiple alarms can be configured, each with their own date/time, music selection, volume, and frequency. Frequency includes daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, weekdays only, and weekend days only. Any subset of alarms can be active at the same time, where each will go off at their prescribed time and day. Each configured alarm can be named, for easy identification, and enabled/disabled with a single control.

A full screen clock display option is also provided (portrait and landscape). This allows the user to see the time of day displayed on the entire iOS device display (when the app is in the foreground on the device). The user can set whether this option is used, whether it is available when the device is connected to A/C power, and the screen brightness to be used for late night operation. When enabled, the current temperature displays in the upper left hand corner of the full screen clock. When enabled, the next alarm time shows in the upper right corner of the full screen clock.

Music can be selected from the current iPod music songs and playlists. Playlist alarm music can have shuffle enabled as desired. Music can also be used from Internet streaming music sources. Playback can be over the iOS device or over other devices that support AirPlay. Streamed Internet music can also be played over a connected bluetooth device. which bluetooth headsets.

The option also exists to force streaming based alarm music to always use the iOS device speaker, which will over ride any other device sound settings that the time of the alarm. So even if headphones are still connected, from an earlier music playback session, this will still force alarm music to the device speaker.

The app includes a dozen of so common streaming sources as possible selections. See the Settings area for more information.
The app allows for a snooze timer from 5 to 15 minutes. The user can enable the snooze feature by using the volume control on the side of the iPhone or shaking the device.
The app also has a sleep timer where the user can enable a variable timer between 5 and 120 minutes for late night music that automatically ends after the set time.

The app also includes a location feature to allow the user quick access to the current location based on Apple maps using GPS. The location is updated throughout the day and an option is provided to display the path that has been followed (like breadcrumbs) since the program started. The break crumbs path starts over each time the app is restarted or the iPhone is restarted.

The app includes the option to display the current temperature, based on GPS, for the USA and many other areas around the world.

Note that "Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life." So be aware that the use of the background distance tracking option will use more battery power.

### 1/5 — Forced location tracking

*2022-03-27, version 5.0.0*

I did not realize this app forces you to keep location tracking on. Turning off and on is not functional. Ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work waste of money

*2018-07-19, version 5.0.0*

Just downloaded it and multiple pop ups and frozen warnings won't allow me to use it. Wasted money.

### 1/5 — Alarm doesn't work

*2015-11-16, version 4.0.0*

The alarms don't go off.

Total fail.

### 5/5 — Great alarm- Contacted Developer-very helpful!

*2015-07-29, version 4.0.0*

I purchased My Music Alarm Clock last week.

There are a lot of features in this app. Being a bit dyslexic (for real), I could not consistently get my alarms to go off. (I like to test alarms before hand so I’ll know they’ll go off in the a.m. when I need them to.)

Some went off, some did not. I decided to contact the developer, Ed Dixon, who responded to my email immediately.

We emailed back and forth a few times and he was extremely helpful.
Before people write bad reviews, they should contact the developers-that’s why they have the “contact developer” button there, they are there to help.

The app is great.

First, you can set it to announce the time before playing your song, playlist or stream music in the morning. (or whenever you set an alarm.)

Second: Options! I love options!

You can set it to snooze for between 5 and 15 minutes, instead of the classic 9 minutes that all alarms and most apps have. I like this feature a lot. Just slide the slider a bit to the right of 5 minutes, or between 5 and 15, wherever you want.

Make sure you set the “shake to snooze” because there is no “snooze button” … I like the shake to snooze!

When setting a playlist to play, simply go to the playlist you want to go off at alarm time.

Make sure to tap EACH SONG in the playlist and then tap DONE.

It will show as the first song you tapped, but trust me, the entire list (each song you tapped) will play.

Now, here is a real cool feature: If you have a bluetooth speaker, you can have the music play through that, and who doesn’t want to hear their music a bit louder in the a.m. to get moving?

All you have to do is go to SETTINGS>ALARM. Where it says “alarm music to speaker”, UNTICK that.

Yes, you read right. UNTICK it. Make sure you have your blue tooth enabled on your device and speaker. Your music will play through your BLUETOOTH SPEAKER.

If you do NOT want the music through the speaker, then set the ALARM MUSIC TO SPEAKER to GREEN. That means it will play through the DEVICE’S speaker and NOT the blue tooth speaker.

You also have the option of “Fade in Music” for those who want the music to SLOWLY get louder.

There also is a VIBRATE ON ALARM feature in SETTINGS as well.

There also is a FULL SCREEN CLOCK setting in the CLOCK settings, enabling you to have the obvious, full screen clock, which you can adjust the brightness to. Remember, though, you have to have WIFI ENABLED so that could eat up the battery.

For me, I’m not going to be staring at the clock all night so I don’t have those enabled.

You must enable Location Services for the app so that it can display the Temperature, which is neat.

….On the bottom …you’ll see a clock icon, a music note icon, settings, location, about.

When you tap the music note, it shows all of the songs that you tapped from your playlist for the alarm you have set.

You can set up multiple alarms and you can see all of them by tapping the CLOCK icon on the bottom left. You can scroll through each one. You can name them and then from there, edit or turn them on or off.

It’s that simple.

I like the functionality of this app a lot. I like hearing the voice announce the time before my music comes on. When I grab it to shake I get a quick peak at the weather and then snooze for 7 minutes.

Great app! Thanks, Ed!

### 2/5 — Messed up my Headphones

*2013-07-07, version 3.3.0*

I have used this app for 6 months it works well. I like how it still works with the playlist we when iris not open. However I just traced my headphone problems (randomly switching to speakers) to this app. Please fix- deleted until fixed

### 1/5 — Deve

*2013-01-04, version 3.3.0*

O programa nao tem configuração especifica para AirPlay e no iPad travou varias vezes, joguei fora 0,99

### 4/5 — Works fine if iCloud services are turned off

*2012-09-22, version 3.0.2*

This alarm app seems like the only one that ACTUALLY works with Airplay. I got it to stop crashing by turning all the iCloud support off at the bottom of the settings tab. Yeah, its a little ugly but once you get your alarms set up it works as advertised. Besides a little tweaking to the aesthetics, id love to see this app work even if its closed. For example, just in case it crashes for some reason in the middle of the night, it'll still wake me up. This could be a problem right now. Overall the developers are on the right track, probably just could use a little more funding. I'd gladly suffer through some ads if it meant a more solid product.

### 1/5 — Does not work with airplay

*2012-04-07, version 3.0.1*

I downloaded this app because it said it worked with airplay. It doesn't.

### 1/5 — HORRIBLE

*2011-09-06, version 1.0.5*

This thing isn't worth a dime. It never works.

### 1/5 — Waste!

*2011-08-09, version 1.0.5*

Horrible! This app totally freaked out on me & I had to delete it to get the alarms to stop! Worst app ever.
