Deleted the old unit off my account and added the new one and reconnected the app. Could control original unit from app. Now changes on the app do not change the wall unit and the app just resets back to the wall unit settings every time. Very disappointing given todays technology. ### 1/5 — Not working at all! *2021-11-05, version 1.6.1* My app shows that it's connected and my wall thermostat shows it's connected but my app has not refreshed or updated since July. According to the app at 6:46 PM outside and 85°. Something is wrong and I don't know how to fix it. I can no longer use the app to control the thermostat at all. I looked at the website and it wasn't very helpful it seems pretty outdated actually. ### 1/5 — Worst app on my phone *2021-07-19, version 1.6.1* My system required this app. The app appears to use technology from 10 years ago. If your reading this, sorry you bought a unit that uses this app. ### 1/5 — Thermostat freaked out *2021-04-16, version 1.6.1* Had to have installer replace face of thermostat downstairs. From that point on, I have lost control via the phone app. I removed the downstairs system and added it back, which then updated all the current info. But then, the current status of the system would never update. So I’m stuck looking at whatever the thermostat was reading at the time I added the system online. Any changes I make via the phone app do not save or go into effect on the actual thermostat. Serial number, MAC address, and PIN numbers have all been updated. I go online to try to change settings and it tells me I need Adobe flash player that no longer is supported or works. Observer corporate needs to hop into the current decade with their software design. ### 1/5 — Horrible app; please fix!!! *2020-11-29, version 1.6.1* This app kinda worked initially when I bought my new AC over 3 years ago. However, as time has passed it has become less responsive to attempts to adjust the temperature and would randomly indicate “An error occurred while attempting to connect to the server.“ I upgraded to an IPhone 7 in November, and now I cannot sign in to the app at all. It will let me sign in to my account online, but it won’t let me change the settings on there either; it sends me back to the broken app! 😡 Please fix this app! ### 1/5 — Garbage app *2020-11-29, version 1.6.1* The fact the developer hasn't updated this app in over three years tells you how great it is or how much they care about it. Looks, acts, and runs like it is straight out of the 90's. Barely had any compatibility with iOS AND android. At this point they should just withdraw the app instead of faking like this is a worthy application to have on our phones. ### 1/5 — Not reliable *2020-11-29, version 1.6.1* Why the Hell do we have to control out HVAC system through a third party is beyond me. The connectivity is often down (cellular and wireless) and I don’t believe the app is upgraded in tune with IOS updates. So, you end up getting out of bed to change temperatures the old fashioned way. ### 1/5 — They let their ssl cert expire. Any issues you are aware of ### 1/5 — Seriously disappointed *2020-11-28, version 1.6.1* Clunky app, hasn’t been updated in years. It’s unfortunate that the most high end heat / AC system you can get from United Technologies has probably the worst app on the market. ### 1/5 — Horrible and outdated User Interface *2020-10-07, version 1.6.1* Feels like it’s from the 90’s. We had the Trane system before and the keypad and mobile app were a million times better. Won’t even keep you signed in. Having to manually sign in every time you launch the app is reason enough to never use it. It’s easier to use the web than the app, but to add insult to injury, they force you to use the app and block you from the web when you’re on your iPhone. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2020-07-23, version 1.6.1* App freezes doesn’t follow settings. I had a Honeywell before this upgrade. It worked great. Had a new HVAC system installed. The equipment installed are great but I would not call the thermostat or this app an upgrade. Wish I could use my reliable easy to operate Honeywell. ### 1/5 — Out of date firmware/software *2020-05-12, version 1.6.1* I constantly have to delete and reinstall in order to for the remote access to work. A feature that should work flawless in 2020. ### 1/5 — Functional, yet still terrible at pretty much everything *2020-05-05, version 1.6.1* It’s almost like your grandfather’s thermostat has been ported into a mobile app. It can only display in landscape mode - which is annoying and confuses other apps. All of the confusing, garbage UI of an antiquated thermostat has been faithfully recreated. “How will I remotely program my furnace to follow an inefficient, regimented schedule that will be difficult to change later?” asked absolutely no one. In answer, this app was created. It does the absolute minimum, but looks and acts like hot garbage. ### 1/5 — Unable to adjust temperature *2020-02-20, version 1.6.1* App worked fine for 3 years and now as of yesterday the app will no longer allow me to adjust anything, have to use the wall thermostat for any changes. The app displays everything fine, but if I try to adjust the temperature, fan speed, schedule, or anything else, the equipment doesn’t recognize the setting from the app. After about 2 minutes the app settings revert back to what the wall unit shows. I’ve deleted/reinstalled the app multiple times as well as log out and log back on with no success. So the app has become worthless at this point in time. ### 1/5 — Ugh ... won’t update *2020-01-24, version 1.6.1* Stuck on data from half a year ago. Deleted app. Uploaded again ... still shows old and wrong data. Not useful at all ### 1/5 — Horrible *2019-10-28, version 1.6.1* Used to work about 10-15% of the time. Now it will not update at all. Have deleted/reinstalled the app, still not working. Shows “live” data from hour(s) ago. I’ve had this system since 2017 so I have years of experience with it. Works with my apple router, no third party hub required. What's not to like? Only that it doesn't work yet with my Apple Watch. I do wish it updated the display a little more often, as it sometimes seems to go a few minutes without updating what I change at the wall thermostat, or the actual ac unit takes a few minutes to engage whatever change I put into the app interface. Not always, but sometimes. It really does usually work pretty well. I haven’t had any bug issues others reported. ### 4/5 — Buggy but still useful *2017-05-06, version 1.6.1* Looks exactly like the thermostat but functions are not complete. I can not always set the fan from Low to Auto, for example. ### 4/5 — Great first version *2015-10-03, version 1.2.0* Overall, a reliable and useful replica of the same Observer interface that is present on the thermostat itself. A few things could be improved though: 1. The interface should scale better across screen sizes (iPad vs. iPhone vs. Desktop window and fullscreen). 2. The Fan indicator doesn't reflect the status quite accurately as on the thermostat. For example, it shows Auto even when the fan setting is set to Low. 3. Wish the thermostat (or somehow thru the app) had quick Home or Away modes to quickly move between being on the normal programmed schedule versus favorable settings when away from the home for a period of time. Bonus points if this setting was communicated to your other Observer thermostats in the same residence (like how Nest does it). 4. Would be nice if the thermostat supported over-the-air updates (again, like Nest). 5. A little concerned about long-term updates and support (5, 7, or 10 years from now) for this product unless it reaches a high level of customer adoption... 6. Could see push notifications for this app being useful for messages or alerts that originate from the thermostat. 7. Would be nice to see developer API support thru the observer website. Similar to Nest here again. Standard interface welcome but if not, at least a reliable and well-documented one to allow integrating with other current and future home comfort and automation products. 8. Support for the HVAC advanced/installer menu (press and hold Fan for about 10 seconds on the thermostat) from within the app would be a nice plus for comprehensive configuration remotely. 9. The mobile access is not always available. There seems to be connectivity issues or problems with their servers to keep them up constantly. Would like to see this issue resolved for the long-haul. Very annoying. ### 3/5 — Wishful thinking *2019-01-10, version 1.6.1* I purchased two inverters and was hoping to get a seamless operation out of my thermostats yet, I continually lose communication from stat to system. Then I have to delete app from phone and then reinstall in order to establish communication once again and hope that it actually does. I have had my first system for a few months and it worked great. The moment I purchased the second one and added it on myobserver.com site, it only worked for a few days and now no more communication. Please work on this issue for it’s the only one I have had to deal with and I love the system but I loved being able to monitor my homes comfort levels while away. Please fix your app. ### 3/5 — iPhone X *2017-11-22, version 1.6.1* Need to fix this app so we can get off the screen on iPhone X, I have to use Siri to open another app so I can force close the app, please fix otherwise this app works great, Bob ### 2/5 — Not a good app but works *2022-09-19, version 1.6.1* I don’t write a ton of reviews but figured I would for this app. It works to control the thermostat. That’s about it. Apparently the variable speed furnaces won’t work with other smart thermostats or I would replace it. It is very simplistic and hard to use. They could drastically improve their ratings (if they care) if they just had someone write a new app that sort of looked nice and was easy to use.
