## What is My Recipe Booklet?

The recipes worth keeping aren't on websites.

They're on index cards in a tin. On the back of an envelope. In a
notebook in your mum's handwriting, with the corner stained from the
time she spilled the vanilla.

My Recipe Booklet is built for those.

PHOTOGRAPH THE CARD. KEEP THE HANDWRITING.

Point your camera at a handwritten recipe. The app reads it using
Apple Intelligence and Vision, right on your device, and types it up
into something you can actually cook from.

Then — and this is the bit that matters — it keeps the card. Not just
the words off it. The card itself, front and back, at a resolution you
can zoom right into. Tap "See the original card" on any recipe and
there's her handwriting, exactly as she wrote it.

The typed version is for cooking. The card is for keeping.

WHOSE RECIPE IS IT?

Every recipe can remember whose it was, roughly when it dates from,
and the story behind it. "Nan's, 1998. She made this every Christmas
Eve and never once wrote down how long to leave it."

That's the part that disappears when a recipe gets retyped into a
notes app. Search for "Nan" and every one of her recipes comes back.

FOR ACTUALLY COOKING

- Cook Mode keeps the screen awake and lets you tick off ingredients
and steps with a knuckle, hands covered in flour.
- Any step that mentions a time gets a timer. Tap it, put the phone
down, get told when it's ready.
- Cooking for six instead of four? Tap plus twice and every quantity
rewrites itself. Oven temperatures stay put.
- A shopping list that adds up properly — 500g flour from one recipe
and 500g from another becomes 1kg, with a nudge that it's about a
  one-kilo bag.

SHARING AND KEEPING

- Send a recipe to anyone by message. They don't need the app.
- Export or print any recipe as a PDF, with the original card on the
  last page.
- Your recipes sync between your own iPhone and iPad through iCloud.
No account. No sign-in. No password to forget.
- A Home Screen widget with your shopping list and today's recipe.

PRIVATE, BY DESIGN

There is no account and no server. Your recipes and your photographs
of your family's handwriting live on your device and in your own
iCloud. Nothing is uploaded to us, because there is no us to upload
it to. The AI that reads your cards runs on your iPhone, not in a
data centre.

MADE TO LOOK LIKE WHAT IT IS

Warm paper, pencil-grey handwriting, nothing shouting at you. Dark
mode, your choice of accent colour, and adjustable note text if you
need it bigger.

Some recipes are just instructions. Some are the only thing left in
someone's handwriting. This app is for the second kind.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.9 — 2026-09-05

Sharing, fixed.

Shared recipes now arrive as a small file alongside the readable text,
instead of inside a link. Messages and WhatsApp were quietly chopping
long links in half, so recipes weren't getting through. Tap the file
and it opens straight in the app; without the app, the text is still
there to read.

### 1.6 — 2026-09-04

Your nan's handwriting, kept.

When you scan a handwritten recipe, the app no longer throws the
picture away once it's read it. It keeps the card — front and back,
sharp enough to zoom right into. Every recipe now has "See the
original card", so the typed version is what you cook from and her
handwriting is still there whenever you want it.

• Whose recipe is it? Record who it came from, roughly when, and the
story behind it. Search "Nan" and every one of hers comes back.
• Cooking for six instead of four? Tap plus twice and the quantities
rewrite themselves. Oven temperatures stay put.
• Cook Mode — the screen stays awake, and you tick off ingredients
  and steps as you go.
• Timers — any step that mentions a time gets a timer button. Tap it,
put the phone down, get told when it's ready.
• Search your recipes by name or by an ingredient.
• Favourites and categories, and sort A–Z, newest, or favourites first.
• Add a photo of the finished dish, and choose whether it goes along
  when you share.
• Serves — note how many a recipe feeds.
• Export or print any recipe as a PDF, with the original card on the
  last page.
• A Home Screen widget with your shopping list and today's recipe.

Plus a fix for sharing recipes you'd written yourself.

### 1.5 — 2026-08-23

• iCloud sync — your recipes now stay in step across your iPhone and iPad automatically. No sign-in needed.
• Fixed sharing so your own recipes always send with the full recipe.
• Small improvements and polish.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-22

A big update to make adding recipes effortless:

• Scan from a photo — snap a written recipe and it fills in the ingredients and method for you, including both sides of a recipe card.
• Say how many it serves — add a "Serves" number to any recipe.
• Dictate your notes with the mic button.
• Shopping list — add your own items or a recipe's ingredients, and matching quantities add up (500g + 500g flour becomes 1kg).
• Make it yours — dark mode, accent colours, and adjustable recipe fonts.

Thanks for cooking with us!

### 1.2 — 2026-08-20

This update makes adding recipes effortless:

• Scan from a photo — snap a written recipe and it fills in the ingredients and method for you, tidied up automatically.
• Dictate your notes — tap the mic and speak your ingredients and method instead of typing.
• Shopping list — add a recipe's ingredients to your list, and matching items add up automatically (500g + 500g flour becomes 1kg).
• Make it yours — dark mode, accent colours, and adjustable recipe fonts and text size for easier reading.

Thanks for cooking with us! Got a suggestion? We'd love to hear it.
