### 3/5 — Renewal glitch

*2021-04-04, version 3.1.3*

Every 6 months when my subscription renews the app gets stuck in the review subscription screen- deleting and reloading doesn’t fix the problem. So I have to send a message to get it fixed. Aggravating- as it’s been going on for a few years now and I get locked out for at least a few days at a time. I like the app otherwise- it keeps me on track- but it would hugely benefit from a setting that acknowledges terrain and trail running.

### 1/5 — Crashes a lot

*2019-01-14, version 3.0.9*

I have used this app for 4 runs now and the app has shut down during 3 of them losing all of my progress. Time to find something else.

### 3/5 — Only got one year, now won’t let me in and no support

*2019-01-13, version 3.0.9*

I have used this app for a year and had a good experience, but when it auto renewed I suddenly could not open it anymore- keeps showing me a page with ‘subscription options’ then telling me ‘you have already subscribed ‘ when I select the option. I tried contacting the maker and no response, but they already got my money for the second year. Tried deleting and redownloading app and no dice.

### 1/5 — Stuck in an endless login loop

*2018-12-13, version 3.0.9*

This app looked like something I’d like to try. However, when using it for the first time, it prompted me to register. I do so, and successfully logged in. When I try to set up a plan, I’m given a choice to logging in or registering a new account. No matter what I pick, it takes me to register a new account, which I can’t do because it tells me my email is already taken. If I try to login using the credentials that I signed up with (that worked the first time I used them) it tries to register me as a new user again.

### 2/5 — Maybe better for experienced runners?

*2018-11-26, version 3.0.9*

I haven’t loved this app - doesn’t feel like it was made for runners who are just starting their training. Rather than coaching / calling out exercises along the way, it dumps all of the instructions on you at once, expecting you to guess your own distances. Once you’re familiar with the exercises & rhythms it gets better, but wasn’t effective coaching for me.

### 4/5 — I love most things about this app

*2018-10-21, version 3.0.8*

This app is great at creating an effective training plan for me. However, there are some things about the app that I do not like. I do not sync my Fitbit with it because if you use the Fitbit and the app to track your run, it logs it as 2 separate runs. If I just use the Fitbit to track the run, then I don’t get the app’s feedback while I’m running. The problem with using the app to track my run is that I have to start it on the phone, which is fine for a training run, but not ideal during a race. So, my current frustration is that I’m trying to enter my race manually, but I am unable to enter it as a race because that is not an option. I would love to see a fix for this or get some feedback on how to do this. If this were not an issue, I would have given a 5 star rating.

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2018-10-03, version 3.0.8*

Too many technical issues: I had to contact the team for help when it would not let me enter a rest period. And when it was scheduling a 5 mile long run in prep for a half marathon (that was the longest run in the plan 3 weeks leading up to the race). That’s a recipe for injury. The interface takes months to get used to and figure out certain features- like entering your test instead of assuming you rested bc nothing was entered. Also, the spin dials for entering time are annoying. Why can’t I just type in my time? It would be faster. Not sure my plan is built for an increased speed since the times do not change on projected race time.

### 1/5 — Not user friendly

*2018-08-13, version 3.0.4*

I love the idea behind this app but it is poorly executed. Runners World needs to reach out to some of the users of this app and make some changes.

### 4/5 — Almost there

*2018-08-03, version 3.0.4*

Overall very pleased with the app, but two things I hope can be in the next (or very soon) update:

(1) Any manual updates I make in the app to a workout imported from Apple Health seem to be overwritten the next time the app syns with Health. There needs to be a backend flag to either not import previously sync’d workouts or to not reimport if the workout has been updated by the user

(2) Needs an Apple Watch app the allows me to start/execute my training plan workouts from the watch. I don’t run with my phone and have zero desire to start.

### 1/5 — Not individualized at all

*2018-07-26, version 3.0.4*

I really didn’t find this app worth the $. I requested a plan for a half marathon training and was given a completely unrealistic plan. I sent a message to one of the coaches & got a very generic & quick response. I’m an experienced half marathon runner & was looking for specific guidance re: speed training, etc. Also the app had some issues. I was disappointed and just cancelled.

### 1/5 — Continue to charge

*2018-07-26, version 3.0.4*

Quit the app but company has still charging my account months later

### 1/5 — App won’t open

*2018-07-25, version 3.0.4*

Cannot get back into the app. Brings me to a screen to choose a subscription and when I select one, it tells me I’m already subscribed (which I am). I’ve deleted and redownloaded. App is up to date.

### 1/5 — Expensive and poor features

*2018-07-16, version 3.0.2*

This app has no option for indoor activities, a hugely limited number of kinds of activities you can log (nothing indoor, no mountaineering, snow sports or climbing). Relies entirely on GPS so if you're trail running in the wilderness it is useless. When it cuts in and out of GPS the alters are irritating as hell.

Furthermore, the training plans are limited and inflexible. It recommended distances and times that clearly did not match my stated fitness level. It is about what you would get reading recommendations for your level from a training manual and making a calendar with run days, distance and time, rest days and cross training.

Wayyyyy too much money for what you get. This is what I would expect of a free app.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2018-07-07, version 3.0.4*

I can’t log on. I get an error or it just crashes every time I try. And the link to app support is just a sales pitch for the app itself

### 2/5 — Poor performance for a paid app

*2018-07-05, version 3.0.4*

I’ll start with the good. The training programs this app produces are good and they have helped me run faster without injury so far. The app, however, has far too many bugs to be worth paying for when free apps are more reliable. My major frustration is that the app periodically makes random changes to my training plan. I have been using this app to train for a marathon for three months. This morning when I went to look at the week ahead, the marathon had been removed as my goal race. When I reset the marathon to be my goal race, all the fitness progress I have made was lost. This means that my upcoming long runs were shortened and the app wants me to train at a slower pace than the pace I had been running for weeks! These kinds of things have happened a few times. There are also minor frustrations with this app. I often get a “GPS signal low” alert when I am running under open sky near my home in a relatively urban area. There is no alert for when GPS strength has returned. The auto pause function doesn’t work well; often I will be standing still for more than a minute and it will not pause the workout. Conversely, if I pause the workout to use the restroom and then set my phone on the counter, it will automatically resume the workout.
To summarize, this app seems to create a decent workout plan but epically fails to reliably incorporate smart phone features and store individual data. Hold off on subscribing until they can improve these faults!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t do monthly subscription!!

*2023-05-02, version 3.1.3*

I can’t use the app because it won’t let me select the $9.99 subscription. It will let me do the six month and the 12 month subscription though, but I don’t want to do that. I want to see if I like it first. I don’t know if this is the apps way of up selling, but it stinks.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2022-05-07, version 3.1.3*

When the app actually works it’s great. However I have an active subscription, the app even tells me I have an active subscription but won’t let me past the “please review the subscription options!” page that opens with the app.

### 1/5 — Cannot open App (but I have a paid subscription)

*2020-08-08, version 3.1.3*

Have the same issue as others. Paid $65 dollars for a subscription but am stuck on subscription screen and can’t open app.

### 1/5 — Do not do free trial - it is impossible to cancel

*2020-05-18, version 3.1.2*

This is a clunky and poor app, but they also make it impossible to cancel when you do the “free” trial so effectively are thieves too!

### 1/5 — Nice Idea, Too expensive

*2020-02-06, version 3.1.2*

As others has said looks a great app, but after entering your details it then wants you to subscribe to a monthly fee which in my opinion is too expensive. If the app worked as described then I would be happy to pay a higher fee for the app but not subscribe to ongoing costs.

### 1/5 — Had no problem taking my money and then deleting my account

*2020-01-28, version 3.1.2*

I used my run plan for 2 years, renewed my subscription, it took my $65 dollars and deleted my account. Now I’ve lost two years of running data and my money

### 1/5 — Not working

*2020-01-15*

This app has not been working for me for about two weeks now, I’ve contacted them on Facebook with my reply. The issue I’m having is that it asks me what payment plan I want, when I select monthly which I’ve already paid for it confirms I have that plan but never loads and will crash. Can anyone help??!

### 1/5 — In app purchases

*2019-03-24, version 3.0.9*

App is free but to actually get plans you need to buy a subscription. It also doesn’t tell you this until you have filled all your details out.

### 1/5 — Set up

*2019-02-13, version 3.0.9*

Really wanted to try this app, but wouldn’t even let me create am account... sigh...

### 1/5 — Stuck on Subscription Options

*2019-02-01, version 3.0.9*

I have used this app non-stop for a year straight and now it’s useless.

### 5/5 — Great customer service

*2018-08-12, version 3.0.4*

We had some login issues today, and confusion with Family Sharing. The customer service was wonderful. After a couple of back and forth emails, our issues were solved.

### 5/5 — I love this coaching

*2018-06-18, version 3.0.4*

I am very happy to be apart of this program. I love that my running plan is ready for me each and everyday. And it’s easy to understand. It’s has helped me become a better runner and the coach always responds to any questions you might have. Thank you Coach, Runcoach is awesome!!!

### 5/5 — Running app

*2018-06-17, version 3.0.4*

Great app to train for a marathon. The coach support is great. The Training plans are very affective.

### 5/5 — Recommended

*2018-06-16, version 3.0.4*

Has worked well for me so far. Coaches are great about emailing back regarding questions.

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2018-06-16, version 3.0.4*

I love this app! It interfaces perfectly with my other apps and fitness devices. The daily emails are great reminders and I get a great sense of accomplishment when I delete the email because that means I completed the task! Open the app up and it’s all synced there also. I used RW several years ago before they had this app and I started at a 30 minute 5k and ended with a 18.24 5k!! Now, I’m back training and stoked to see the app now!!!

### 5/5 — Better than other race training apps!

*2018-06-16, version 3.0.4*

What I love about the marathon training plans on this app is that they include days for cross training (inc. which types, how long, videos for strength training etc) and the runs are varied each week (long, fast, HIITs) so you never get bored.

But favourite thing is that it feels human -for example, it flags that you can take 1 minute walking breaks every so often, which is a life-saver for beginner to races like me and removes the guilt of having to stop and start. Believe or not, have not seen this on other apps.

There are also very well explained strength videos (within and copy before), so you know the real benefit of why you’re doing what you’re doing, especially in the context of training, which for me inspired me to compete them. I think a lot of sites assume everyone understands what all the different strength exercises are and why they need to be done.

I think what this app has should be freely accessible to all because it has real value - I would gladly watch 10 ads a go to help sustain it! Others are charging high fees for zero quality. Although this charges a fee too, at least it’s actually worth it.

### 5/5 — Life Saver!

*2018-06-15, version 3.0.4*

The App has completely changed my workouts for the better! For the first time in my life I have a plan that is easy to follow and tracks the results. It syncs perfectly with my Garmin and accurately records my times and distance. I’ve also had the opportunity to interact with the coaches and they have been very helpful when I hit a snag in my training. I highly recommend this app!!!!!!

### 5/5 — Helped set a PR!

*2018-06-15, version 3.0.4*

The training plans are extremely helpful and tailored to your ability level and experience. I recently set a 15 PR in the marathon thanks in part to the suggestions and daily tracking. I’ll keep using this and highly recommend it!
