Hasn’t been updated for x-style screen, Touch/Face ID, or wallet. Very discouraging to see the app gets regular (tho infrequent) updates, and they can’t be bothered to include quality of life improvements. I appreciate the security/bug fix updates, but don’t understand how they can regularly update the app yet not be bothered to bring to bring the feature set into this decade ### 1/5 — Overdue for iPhone X/X Max support *2020-01-08, version 4.8.2* It has now been 2 years and this app still doesn’t take advantage of the screen real estate. Also, I recently was involved in a collision. I tried to start my report at the scene. I was impressed, at first, when I saw I could upload photos to the app. However, I proceeded to finish the report when the app crashed and didn’t save my progress. ### 1/5 — iPhone Dark mode *2020-01-04, version 4.8.1* The screen doesn’t recognize when you are using iPhones dark mode. I can’t see my account I’d or password when logging in. I can’t pay my bill using the app because the text for what to enter in each field isn’t visible. Please fix before I find a new insurance provider. I have 5 cars and home insurance with this company. ### 1/5 — Cant even sign in *2020-01-02, version 4.8.1* Iphone xs max. Cant use sign in, nothing i type shows up. On iPhone X, I can’t use Face ID, or save cards to my wallet. Have to log in every time I want to access info. No “Remember Me” on log in. Not anymore. Not able to see the account when trying to log in. I am happy with my insurance but not the app😔. When I tried to login, entry fields remained white although the cursor was moving as I typed. When I was finally able to log in and view my insurance card, the only option I had was to email the card and not print directly. If I have to log in to the website to do anything for real, what good is this app? The app is lame…! You can’t pay early and hit pay early. You can’t set up alerts, which everything with newer technology has (reminder your payment is due on..). And it’s annoying that they don’t catch up with the new technology. This is the only billing company I have that doesn’t… send me an alert close to my bill. ### 1/5 — Horrible!!! *2025-09-11, version 5.18.0* I had Shelter insurance for 2 years and NEVER missed a payment and then one day Shelter the office people had their computer system upgraded and it had a “payment bug” (they even told me this is what was happening, recorded phone call saved) where if you had auto pay turned on it would charge your card but fail to accept the money and it would make your account go “delinquent” and they would call and then get their payment (same day of failed auto pay) this went on for 3 months and they didn’t get it fixed but on the 3rd month of pay fail in their system they claimed my account was delinquent and they even canceled my insurance contract with them and it was effective immediately so I switched to State Farm and have not had a single issue since and all payments are on time with auto pay enabled. Screw you Shelter insurance for errors on your end and you blaming me for it ### 1/5 — Poor app *2025-04-05, version 5.17.0* Claim feature is garbage, app crashes and loses info constantly. Of course it has no problems with submitting payment. They will take your money but design an app that won’t let you proceed with a claim. ### 1/5 — Frustrating Lack of Basic Features *2025-03-26, version 5.17.0* This insurance app is missing essential features that make managing policies extremely difficult. There is no option to add or remove vehicles or drivers, which is a basic necessity for any insurance platform. Instead of handling these simple updates through the app, I have to go through customer service, which is time-consuming and inconvenient. A modern insurance app should provide flexibility and ease of use, but this one falls short. Until these features are added, I can’t recommend this app for anyone who needs to make regular adjustments to their policy. ### 1/5 — Always a glitch *2023-01-20, version 5.11.0* The first time I paid my bill on the app was a breeze and I thought it was wonderful, but nearly every time I try to use it now, there’s some sort of glitch. This time, I cannot put our new credit card info in. It keeps freezing up. I even deleted and re downloaded the app, and I still can’t get it to work. ### 1/5 — Requires SSN *2022-01-04, version 5.4.0* I understand the need for an SSN regarding credit based insurance rates, but why keep the SSN after the credit check? I’m not looking forward to the potential identity theft if the SSNs are hacked from a Shelter database. There are other ways to verify an account without requiring an SSN. ### 1/5 — Login fail w/ correct credentials *2021-07-13, version 5.0.0* App won’t accept password. First, TouchID would be really nice because I tend to forget my Shelter password. Second, it would be nice if ID cards could be exported to the Apple Wallet so that they are easily accessible. Finally, there should be a main tab that shows your actual agent and his/her contact information. Why would I want to search for an agent if I am obviously already a customer by virtue of being signed in?
