I’m having to uninstall and reinstall this app at least three times a week just to keep my child’s tablet covered under the child locks. your router works awesome but this app is absolute garbage ### 1/5 — Poorly designed and has way too many issues. *2025-02-18* This app is poorly designed and has many issues. The way the screen time function works is poorly executed, and does not accurately reflect the time spent on the app. The time drains even when the app is not in use. Closing out the app can slow the rate at which the time depletes, but sometimes even that doesn’t stop it. Not only that, but the time appears to drain in 5-minute increments. This results in the time being drained even faster. Not only that, but the filters are very inconsistent. Sometimes applications and websites will randomly be blocked or unblocked, such as Wikipedia. At random points in the day, my device will claim that the connection is not stable, yet later it will work just fine. Oftentimes the notification alerting that the user has 15 minutes left for an application does not send, resulting in further confusion for the users. Another issue is with the bedtime feature. For some reason, the Bedtime feature is set using the time on the guardian’s phone rather than the child’s. Normally this wouldn’t cause any issues, but if the child happens to be in a different time zone than their guardian, for example, if the guardian were to be on a business trip, the start and end of Bedtime would start at whatever time was set in the guardian’s time zone. This could result in the child losing internet access significantly earlier or later than scheduled. Not only that, but this also affects the time at which the limits refresh. Combined with this app’s inability to accurately measure time, this results in the time draining in the middle of the day, and then disabling apps for the next 24 hours. Use literally any other software to monitor your screen time. Just not this dysfunctional garbage. Not to mention you have to pay for this? Waste of money. My dad installed this app on my phone and I am 15 years old. Apps like this are for parents that do not trust their children. I recommend that parents just teach their children safe internet practices instead of having access to everything they look at. So I deleted the app of my kids iPads but then the parental controls stayed in the Apple>screen time>content & privacy restriction. In order to toggle that off you need a pin which apparently the app enabled and set. So without knowing this pin I’m screwed. The app is so slow and easy for kids to uninstall, it should at least notify you if that happens. It restricted online calculators, quora statistics tutoring forums, comment sections underneath Khan Academy youtube videos, etc. For the parents, if you want kids to be able to get their homework done while still being able to control their device usage, you cant. Even the adult setting for mature content filtering says “filters most mature content” and by the awful coding standards.. “most mature content” seems to be randomly decided. Under the teen setting, I can watch the most disturbing NC-17 movies, but I cant access educational forums. The thing is, you cannot control time limits if you turn off the mature content filtering, so nothing works as it should. 3) IT BREAKS UR TECH. Each hardware component on my pc was registered under a different name within the devices section of the orbi app. On this app, some of those hardware components responsible for internet connection were restricted… this ended up literally breaking my pc. The fans stopped working as well as the hard drive. A burning smell came from my PC even after I shut it off. Now, all programs or browsers I open give me a “program not responding window”, with no fix I could find either by my own approaches into my computers settings and control panel, or by resources online. 4) My dad doesnt know I have control over these settings. He has literally zero way of knowing unless I tell him. You guys are wasting who knows how much money for this service to break your tech and promote a relationship of secrecy between you and your kids. Helicopter parenting only ever ends with you on your deathbed in a nursing home and your kid 12 state borders away living happily and enjoying their relationship with their children because the one thing you did right for them was give them an example of how not to parent. ### 1/5 — Unacceptable *2023-01-10* This app disables all my internet access in my experience it is very insufficient in VPN i.e. I highly recommend a different one to use as it would give a much better service and option than this. I have to state that I am extremely disappointed and upset at this application/VPN.): ### 1/5 — It’s ok… *2022-12-10, version 2.30.1.594* Ok I know it works but their are a lot of downsides. If you a new parent here is the review for you. This is the take from a teen who has had this app sense 10 years of age. 1: It shuts of your phone randomly and will take hours to start again. 2: It invades people privacy and shares what websites and apps your on with you’re a parent/guardian. If you don’t want your kids to be on the Internet, don’t do it. If your going to give them a device that can show them the true world let them see it. You will be better off not giving them a phone if your going to limit it. Once it’s given theres no turning back. When you limit their devices their just going to become more difficult and depending on it. If you don’t want your kid to be mad and rude then I would suggest not downloading this app, or any app like it. If you are going to give them a device I suggest giving them, full access to the world, their going to have to see it one day you can’t protect them forever. The last option is just don’t give them the device at all. The best to choose from (from a teens perspective) are not giving them it or giving them full access. This app or many apps like this can make them sad and turn against you. When you are a growing person you want to have control over your life, I feel as if you take away the online aspect, you are also taking away that feeling of control. You don’t have to agree but here is my review of the app. ### 1/5 — Worst app ever (even deleted) *2022-10-23, version 2.30.1.594* After I deleted this app, my YouTube and TikTok aren’t loading properly and my other apps still have limited access to the Internet. Ladies and gentlemen, (and for teenagers), if you’re seeing this review, then DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT. It will constantly keep messing with your Internet even after you delete it. ### 1/5 — Does not work on ipad *2022-10-07* This is junk! ### 1/5 — 100% Ineffective Security Theater *2022-08-07* The best way to bypass this app is to simply delete it from your Home Screen and voila! Your kids can resume watching inappropriate videos recommended by AI algorithms. Additionally the VPN interferes with so many other things the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. ### 1/5 — Won’t be renewing subscription *2022-06-25* When I first started using this app, I thought it was amazing and recommended it to all my friends. Now I’ve encountered enough bugs that I won’t be renewing my subscription. -You can’t give more than one reward a day (I did find a workaround but you shouldn’t have to do that) -It messes with third party apps. I started using it on my devices to control my twitter usage and next thing I knew, I was no longer able to use my bank’s bill pay or online chat and I when used google search, I would click on an ad but the website would not open. Once I stopped using it on my devices, I had no further issues. -I paused the internet on one profile using the nighthawk app and even after I unpaused it, the user wasn’t able to access wifi on their devices. I had to uninstall and reinstall the my time app on their device. -I don’t know exactly how their system works but it seems to count usage in increments of 5 minutes which quickly eats up time. -The my time app itself counts against the daily time each profile is allowed which also quickly eats up time. This seems to only happen if the app is accessed which is a lot when you have curious kids. All this app does is tell kids that their parents don't trust them. As a teen, I am more responsible and mature then all of my peers and because I didn't eat dinner after I got back from a trip, my parents think I'm hiding something. Even though I'm mature and responsible and whatever else, I get no reward for it. While my brothers are getting in trouble every single day, I'm getting my homework done early and planning my future. To all parents thinking about how to "help" their teen by making them tell their problems and restricting things on devices, don't do it. All that you will do is ruin your relationship with you child.
