I have over 200 beers journaled and it's become my go to beer app. Their tech support is second to none. Looking forward to seeing them expand and improve over time! ### 5/5 — Boutique Beer profiling app at its Zenith *2015-01-06* If you are exploring boutique beers, you need and will love this app. Easy to learn and use. It's informative and encourage adventures if you are touring. Extensive brewery and product listing attached. Geographical profiling easily searched, whether you are in New York, or Melbourne. Recording (Journaling) your tasting opinion and preferences is both a quick and deep thoughtful process that teaches you more about the beer you selected and experienced. Tasting, palate & visual notes have deep categorisation listings, with the option to add your own titles, if one of the extensive categories is not the word you want to use. One touch sort to find Brewers closest to you. You touch the GPS arrow in the top right corner and then sort by how close or sort by alpha or search and there is the brewery. And there is their full range of beers. WOW. Can't beat this app for your personal beer journal. ### 5/5 — An extension of my memory *2014-08-16* I just love this app. I love craft beer and this app helps me keep track of all the new beer I try. It's great when I look up a beer that's available on tap and I find i had it before and rated it high. And the couple of times I came across a beer not listed in the app, I just used the app to let the administrator know about the new beer or brewery and it was added within a day or two. Yep this is an app I use every week. ### 5/5 — ToddTom *2014-06-27* Great app! Contains a number of features you just don’t find in other beer journal apps. Especially with the new update. Specifically, it allows you to include custom tasting notes for each beer, as well as easily create custom category responses so there is virtually no limit to your ability to describe and capture your tasting experience. And upon reviewing your journal entries, you can sort by virtually any category. Another great feature is you can rate in as much or as little detail as you choose. Only the categories you rate or respond are visible in our journal so your journal stays nice and neat, without a bunch of empty space. Overall GREAT app and after looking through a number of available apps – by far the best one out there! ### 5/5 — Awesome App *2014-02-18* This is a must have app for all beer enthusiasts! The app has a huge database which is constantly being updated. I've recommended this app to several of my friends and they all love it. Now if only I could find a scotch app that is as useful as this beer app. ### 5/5 — Great craft beer app! *2013-11-19* I've been using for about a year now and have almost 300 beer entries. It has been extremely helpful to keep track of beers I have tried (particularly since I have a poor memory). They recently made some enhancements that improves the overall functionality. ### 5/5 — Missing beers but I like *2013-09-29* The journal is really nice and I like the way it is laid out. They have gotten much better at adding breweries outside of the us. Since i travel for work I like the links for local breweries, I just wish they had +/- ratings and they could update the new beers sooner. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — NEVER USE THIS! *2025-01-27* I wish that I could rate this app zero stars! It is now 2025 and syncing has been disabled for over a year now due to “server maintenance.” This was supposed to have been completed in “Spring 2024” according to my inoperative sign in page and still absolutely nothing has been done. Now I can neither access my synced data nor download my data file for use elsewhere. As a result, I have over 500 journal entries that are utterly inaccessible! The developer’s tech support is entirely unresponsive as well. NEVER, EVER USE THIS SOFTWARE OR YOUR PAINSTAKING WORK WILL BE LOST FOREVER! ### 1/5 — It won't sync, and it's very irritating *2017-08-27, version 2.3.0* I had this app on my iPhone. I had more than 119 beers journaled from all over the world! Unfortunately, my iPhone stopped working. As a result, I had to download it on my iPad. However, when I logged into my mail through the app, it doesn't seem to have saved ANY of my journaled beers. I CANOT lose those journaled beers! I had it synced. Why is it not working? ### 1/5 — Go for the free apps *2016-01-19, version 2.2.1* It's not a terrible app, it works and all, but it is missing so many breweries. I only bought it because I figured because it's paid it would have a more comprehensive list. Most of the free apps list more than this one, save your money. ### 2/5 — Buggy app *2023-06-03* Takes a full 10 seconds to load the brewery search page. ### 2/5 — Only for American Beers *2012-10-21, version 1.4.14* The app itself is nice and clean. However, you can't add German or Belgium Beers. Only American beers for that matter. ### 3/5 — Crashes *2020-03-21* I like that this app has breweries and beers from all over the world and not just the United States. However, when I go to use the google search feature to add one not listed it crashes every time! Fix that and I'll give it 5 stars. ### 3/5 — Great interface, but short on data *2011-12-23* The interface is very clean and intuitive. Great map feature for locating breweries. Of you want a beer journal, however, you should look elsewhere. Although the app carries the basic data for breweries, you'll find that it lacks beer offerings for many of the lesser-known breweries. You can take the time to do it yourself, but I don't want to have to do that, especially because I have a hard time remembering the names of some beers. If you want a more comprehensive database of beer, go to BeerVault. If you want a user-friendly brewery locator, try this one. ### 4/5 — Good experience *2024-04-11* Have been using this app for over a year now and been very pleased with its performance. It was the only app I could find that replaced a previous app that ceased to be supported. A lot of breweries are on the database but living in the UK it’s mainly only the popular breweries that are covered. The good thing is you can expand your personal database. I mainly use the app as a personal record of ales sampled when and where. Hoping the developers keep supporting it in the future ### 4/5 — Pretty awesome *2014-02-06* Really love this app! The only issues I have is with the rating. I really wish they had + and - to the other grades as well. This is really needed IMO and should be easy to do. The features like the map to locate the nearest brewery makes for a blast when you travel. However, the neatest thing has to be how it makes you break down and really malt e the beer you are having, smell, taste, color, mouthfeel, total before and after for people alejo are really into beer. ### 5/5 — Almost perfect for me *2020-04-19* I’ve been using this app for about two years, and it has been ideal for me. Able to add beers and breweries simply, easy to put in the information, and able to customize what you want to put in (I.e. if you taste kumquat, just hit “add custom” in the taste part of the log and you can add kumquat.). I did have an issue with crashing for a bit - contacted the designers, and Alex from Looking West worked until he found the issue. Much appreciated! Even if you only go on one Beercation, this app will set you in the right direction. I belong to a beer club in San Diego and this is my go to app. Updating the breweries must be a huge undertaking. And for sure some breweries may be missing. But there is a place to request adding breweries. They did for me and within 48 hours it was up. Awesome support Pro's: Provide a map with location and websites of breweries It allows you to rate the beer and actually judge it, for taste and quality (much better than untapped) Very user friendly Prompt response to requests. Dedicated to making updates $4.99 app worth the price of not missing a craft brewery Con's: Not all breweries are listed. I like the usability and it was updated to make it easier and provide more tasting notes. It does not have every brewery list that has opened in the last 6 months but they have added an option to"add a new brewery" now. Great Journal. ### 5/5 — Wow *2015-10-05* I love this app! I have been using my 'notes' in my phone to keep track of the beers I have tried, but it's very lack luster to say the least. I tried a free app, but it did not list the beers the way I like and I want a place for notes if I choose to add any. This app allows you to sort your list. While my preference is by brewery, you can choose to sort by beer name, date of entry, your ranking, beer style, ABV %, IBU, or price. When looking at a brewery, it shows you if they have a tasting room, tours, or food. You can mark whether you have visited it, toured it, if it's on your wish list, or if it's your favorite. It usually already has the beers that that brewery makes for you to select from, but you can also add to the list if it is not there. It also has the address, phone number and a link to the brewery's website. The map feature lets you see where the breweries are and if you marked as visited or toured. I like the fact that it syncs to all my devices (iPad & iPhone). I'm in the processing of transferring my notes to this. I have two improvements I recommend: 1. The ability to share your list with others. Maybe it has it, and I just haven't found it yet. 2. Since it lists the beers already for most of the breweries, why can't it already have the style, ABV, & IBU? Thank you for this app!!! ### 5/5 — Good beer journal *2015-10-04* From all the other apps I've tried many this is by far the best! I love keeping track of the different breweries I go to and beers I drink. I think this is well put together. I recommend it!
